[Open] Silent Hill event
WHO: Hua Binan and you!
WHAT: The Silent Hill flood
WHERE: All over the ship
WHEN: All throughout the event
WARNINGS: Cannibalism, gore, body horror
Fog world
Hua Binan is on his way back to his cabin when his surroundings change. Things become grey, foggy and somewhat dreamlike, but he has enough of his wits about him to realize that this is probably one of those strange occurrences that supposedly happens frequently on this ship. Strange, and unsettling, but it shouldn't be dangerous.
He hears faint screams and wet, chewing noises that set his hair on end, but he tries to ignore it until things return to normal. As much as that is possible. He will try to seek out others when things are normal, mainly to make absolute sure that he isn't the only one experiencing this.
It gets worse
A couple of days later, Hua Binan is anxious, but so far, he's been able to handle the strangeness. Of course, that's when things get worse.
It starts with a voice in his ear, cold and admonishing: "Shi Mingjing, what have you done?"
"Shizun?" Hua Binan turns his head and catches a glimpse of white robes and long, dark hair rounding a corner. He runs to try and catch up. "Shizun! Chu Wanning!" he calls out, but when he too rounds the corner, there's no one there.
It doesn't stop there. Whenever the shift happens, Hua Binan is tormented by Chu Wanning's lecturing, somehow colder and harsher than he had ever been back at Sisheng Peak. He hears Taxian-jun too, mocking him for his failures.
On occasion, he catches a glimpse of that other version of himself. Blind and bleeding from the eyes, but somehow able to always know exactly where Hua Binan. He's not admonishing, not even judging. He seems sad. Hua Binan does his damndest to try and ignore him, but he ends up dreading that thing the most.
All hell breaks loose
He's lost and confused. Paranoid and anxious. Things keep changing. Too much, too often. He can't even trust his own eyes and ears anymore.
He opens a door, hoping it will be his cabin, but instead he steps right into his worst nightmare. A bed covered in blood with two people on it. Hua Binan freezes up completely as the man turns to look at him. There is blood smeared around his lips and the look in his eyes is crazed.
Hua Binan whimpers as the woman sits up. Chunks of flesh are missing from her torso and legs and her ribcage is visible. "A-Nan," she says in a low, guttural voice, so far from the loving mother he remembers, "Run... run... or he will eat you too! Gobble you up in one bite!" They both start to laugh. Horrible, loud cackling that rings in Hua Binan's ears.
The two then come together and while Hua Binan watches in horror, they meld into one awful, fleshy monstrosity. It's impossible to tell where one body ends and another begins. And then it starts to crawl off the bed, still cackling with laughter.
"RUN!" it screams at him.
And Hua Binan does.

He's lost and confused. Paranoid and anxious. Things keep changing. Too much, too often. He can't even trust his own eyes and ears anymore.

And Hua Binan does.

All Hell Breaks Loose
"Is someone chasing you? Poor thing." Jun Wu waves a hand, dispelling some of the fog. Meanwhile his other arm wraps firmly around Hua Binan. He caught him so he is his now. That's how it works, right?
"They can't get you now that I'm here."
Re: All Hell Breaks Loose
Before he can say anything, he hears sickening, wet footsteps and when he turns around, the horrible creature is making its way out of the room. Unlike all the other times, the monster really is here.
His eyes go wide in terror as the monster cackles at him with two mouths and two voices. Immediately, he tries to pull away from Jun Wu so he can get the hell away from it.
no subject
Something. Something Jun Wu doesn't see and doesn't hear. Well, that won't stop him.
"Enough, enough." he soothes and lifts the man, draping him over his shoulder like a sack of grain. Then he disappears with his charge, reappearing in another corridor altogether.
"Is it still here?"
no subject
"Gonna eat you! Gonna eat you!" it begins to shriek as it follows, crawling on some horrific amalgamation of arms and legs fused together.
"Yes!" Hua Binan shouts in panic, "It's after me!!"
no subject
"Disgusting. Why are you keeping such ugly company?"
And, no, as he aims more blows at the monster, he does not put Hua Binan down.
Also... There seems to be screaming. And the sound of fire and...lava? No, no that's nothing to worry about.
no subject
Then it starts whimper pathetically. "A-Nan, A-Nan, how could you leave me... your own mother... Such an unfilial son..." The voice sounds just like his mother's had in life, and it makes Hua Binan feel like he's going to choke on his own grief.
no subject
He might have more room to talk if horrifically burned people weren't crawling up behind the monster, crying out his name.
"Prince! Your Majesty, help us! Save us! It hurts!"
no subject
He goes to cover his ears, but that's when he sees the burned people. They can't be here for him, so they must be Jun Wu's demons.
"L-Let's get out of here..."
no subject
The rush of cleaner air is a relief and he finally sets his friend down, brushing ashes from his sleeves. The ashes of his people. Supposedly.
"Better?"
no subject
Once they reach the deck and he's let down, Hua Binan barricades the door that leads to it as best he can with whatever is around. Only then does he start to feel a little calmer, even though their surroundings look like some sort of hellscape. Clearly, something's happened to the Barge itself.
"Yes," he says, and manages to keep his voice from trembling. "Thank you."
no subject
"Rest." he advises, "Our nightmares are not over."
How he knows that is questionable. He can sense it, perhaps, as someone who has spun his own number of nightmares. Just ask Xie Lian!
no subject
Shuddering, he leans against the railing and closes his eyes. "When I was told about the strange things that happen on this ship, I was not expecting something like this." He can't stop shivering, haunted by the sight of his mother like that, and wraps his arms around himself.
no subject
"Your mother died tragically, hm? Was she devoured?"
no subject
He swallows. "Yes. By my father," he murmurs, his voice rough.
no subject
"Did he always intend to kill her or did she earn his ire somehow?"
Enough to be eaten? She must have done something heinous!
no subject
no subject
From behind his mask, there are other voices:
"People you should not forget!"
"Your Highness, I can't see!"
"You did the same to us! What did we do to deserve it?"
no subject
His eyes snap to Jun Wu's masked face. "What... what's that? Are those voices coming from you...?"
no subject
"An oddity." he murmurs.
"I will not be brushed off so lightly! An oddity!"
"Young Master, we were once His Majesty's councilors."
"Before he pushed us into the volcano's mouth."
no subject
Curiously, he tilts his head to the side. "Are your souls trapped within him?" he asks the voices directly. He can't help but to be a little fascinated.
no subject
"It isn't what we wanted..."
"This is our curse as much as his."
Jun Wu grits his teeth behind the mask, staring ahead instead of at Hua Binan. He imagines there will be disgust on the young man's face. Who could feel differently?
no subject
"And there is no way to extract your souls?" he questions. Isn't Jun Wu a god? That seems like something a god would be able to do...
no subject
Jun Wu smacks his mask, likely hurting himself in the process. That is enough.
"Too talkative." he finally looks at Hua Binan, crossing his arms over his chest, "The cure is useless."
It's difficult to kill a god - much less one of the top martial gods of Heaven!
no subject
At least this has been a distraction from his own demons!
no subject
The voice is small but easily heard. Jun Wu leans back against...the railing? A wall? Who the hell knows.
"I have been stabbed until my heart was mush... Yet here I am."
first day
She shows up just as he's emerging from the fog, looking serious, tired, and faintly perturbed.
"How much have people told you about floods?"
no subject
"Oh!" He jolts in surprise, but manages to compose himself. "Miss Shaw. Apologies, you startled me. Floods? Is this what this is? I was told a little about them by... Xie Lian? I believe his name was."
no subject
That seems like a decent place to start - especially since she's not sure how she'd describe this flood. Some of them are straight forward. This one definitely isn't.
no subject
no subject
Hence the perturbed expression. Shaw finds danger and spontaneity exciting, but only when it's ultimately grounded in a world with consistent rules that make sense to her, and the Barge is most definitely not that.
"So, okay, first thing's first: are you scared?"
no subject
He shakes his head. "I wouldn't say so. I figured that this was likely not real, and so far nothing much has happened."
no subject
This may seem like harping on the issue, but she has no illusions that things are going to stay as low-key spooky as they are right now - and she wants to both prepare him for what feels like the inevitability of escalation, as well as get a sense for how he might react.
no subject
no subject
Shaw pauses, then shakes her head, minutely.
"I just deal with it as it comes, you know? But I don't scare easy, and the things that do scare me aren't the same things that scare other people. Like this - I don't like this."
no subject
"Perhaps it'd be a good idea to stick together. As much as that is possible."
no subject
"Regular check-ins every hour when we're not together - and when we're not asleep - with extra ones if we see anything weird? My cabin's on level one - room seven. If you're in trouble and you're close by, consider it a safehouse."
fog
He supposes that it could be worse, which is always there for him no matter the situation.
"Unsettling, isn't it?" He says.
no subject
"Very. Have you experienced something like this before?"
no subject
"I have several experiences that I might term similar, but that can get complicated."
