Who: Alan, Hilbert, Shaw, and Ulla
Where: Infirmary
When: Various points through the month
What: Inner demons come and go but stress headaches are forever
Warnings: TBD
[ Chronic isn't the right word, but since arriving on the barge there's definitely been an uptake on his head pounding like it's being bashed in by Tor's hammer. The good thing is that there's medical care on the barge. Alan by no means thinks he's going to keel over and die due to it -- if that was the case then he would have done so a long time ago -- but there's just no point in suffering when all he has to do is pop on over and ask for some extra-strength advil. That's exactly why he's knocking lightly on the frame of the door to get someone's attention. ]
Hey--got a minute?
[ He'll return a few more times, half-lurking but patient if there's a line since there's a lot more shit going on here than a guy that has headaches from time to time courtesy of years of god-knows-what. There's a different person each time, and he's fairly certain at this point it's just easier to ask for a bottle to keep in his Writer's room. ]
I'll be quick. [ Easy assurance, half of a fast smile that looks more like a grimace than anything else.. ]

Shaw, Ulla

Ah, wait. There's someone here. Hilbert looks up, giving Alan a little nod before, ]
Of course. Please sit down and tell me the problem.

You have anything for tension headaches? [ He's saying it as he crosses the room, sitting down. He's not expecting to be here long, but he's already fairly curious about the affairs of this place. Mainly how the hell it can sustain itself considering the amount of odd cases this place has to have. ]

Do you have any pre-existing conditions that would prevent you from taking certain medications?

I'm surprised there's still anything here. With the amount of shit constantly hitting the fan, wardens should be popping advil for stress like they're flinstone vitamins.
[ Hell, he's feeling it and he's not even in charge of anybody. ]

I have gaps, sort of? Spots where my memory isn't the best. If I try to concentrate on it I can usually remember what I need to, but... [ He trails off. Eyes the medication, shrugs lightly. 'Hey. What're you gonna do. Sometimes you get giant migranes from God knows what' ]

I can give you enough to help deal with current migraine, as well as spare dose for next migraine. But after that, I highly recommend you swap out medication for different brand. Mostly to spare liver, after all.

[ That earns a wry, dry laugh. In a weird way, it's almost relaxing, talking about something mundane. ]
I'm hoping it'll lessen with time.

[ It's obvious that Hilbert has a LOT of feelings about the whole 'murder a week' thing. ]

[ He glances around the little setup he has. ]
Shared sentiment from everyone here, I'm assuming.

I do not think the idea of death toll versus lingering symptoms cross people's minds until they deal with it themselves.

[ There's a tiny, tiny smile on his face though. ]

I am not one for gentle terms. But I know others might appreciate it.

Good to know.
Hey--shot in the dark--is there anyone here that deals with holes in memory? Lapses, that sort of stuff.
no subject
Dr. Sheehan, perhaps? I believe he is only trained psychologist on board.

Anyone that's not a shrink?

[ Though he doesn't outright say it, Hilbert's tone of voice implies that he thinks Alan just asked a stupidass question. ]

I am sure one of our ridiculous wizards has some magic spell for poking around in your head and seeing all your memories. But I also know that basic concepts like 'ethics' and 'patient privacy' might be foreign to them. If I have someone helping me work through something undoubtedly sensitive—which is what your situation must be, do not try to tell me otherwise—I would like knowledge that they at least have some idea of what they are doing. Some idea of code of conduct.

No one has to take the hippocratic oath to work here? You just walk in?

[ Alan doesn't trail off so much as he gets a little stupefied. There's genuine horror in his eyes. ]

Do you have credentials?

I think I'm gonna just keep going to you and no one else, if that's alright.
