Very Scary Hole: The Plot
Who: Envy and like half the boat
When: Morning of 8/8, then probably some fallout throughout the day
Where: On deck, then after the ceiling is smashed the dining hall, also inside a mostly dimensionless hole in reality
What: Envy's escape attempt results in bad times for everybody
Warning: Death, blood and gore and dismemberment, violence, suicidal ideation, will add if anything gets more specific
Early Tuesday morning, a couple of creepy little maniacs converge quickly and efficiently on a sheltered bit of the deck, Envy to draw out an elaborate alchemical circle, Johann to do some mild to moderate human sacrifices, Xue Yang as backup (and, well, Envy figured they could kill him, too, if it turned out to be necessary). This ceremony doesn't exactly go off as planned, but in the end, the circle activates.
The deck is the first casualty. The false gate of truth devours, and it eats structural integrity fast. The portal roars to life without much regard to directions, smashing through the deck and the ceiling underneath, which belongs to the dining hall. Sorry about breakfast. Debris rains down, and the portal itself, in its initial opening, will snap up everything in its range, whether that's a whole person or not. There may be some unclaimed limbs lying around.
The portal was supposed to close as soon as it opened, but this one doesn't. It's a gaping hole in reality. Whether you were pulled in by the initial opening or opted to go yourself, it's dark and cold inside, and very little else. There's a floor. There's poor visibility. There's up and down, and some broken furniture (and possibly bodies) from the opening, but it's mostly just endless emptiness.
Oh, and Envy. Envy's bolting into the darkness and has no intention of coming out.

Now You're Thinking With Portals: Closed to sacrificers and sacrificees
early morning
He's not unaware of his surroundings, but there's a limit to how much even paranoid caution can do without more to back it up, and the Barge can offer a false feeling of relative safety even in the paranoid. After all, there are more reasonable places for someone to plan an attack and he does have an alarm in his pocket.

Envy and Johann
So he went with "crap he could steal easily," most prominently a painstakingly sharpened butterknife and some rocks from the greenhouse. He's scraped his circle straight into the deck through the night, very glad there's no warden in the picture right now, determined that even if they're caught last minute, no one will be able to scrape away the symbols with their foot. Amateur hour.
Now all it needs is power.

And while his cultivation is suppressed here, he still knows how to kill, and is more than happy to help with any human sacrifices. Or anything else that needs doing, really. He's just happy to be here.

Deck (a.k.a., come murder them)
Avalon’s morning starts out quietly. They go through the motions of taking care of their currently-human body. They eat breakfast in the dining hall, sitting in the corner away from everyone else. Today, they want to be alone with the Enclosure’s weak impression of their brother. They find a Warden to let them out on deck, and are halfway to the Enclosure door when someone grabs them from behind.

Yes, he is occupied with wardening Kalim. Yes, he is quite happy to have his fiancé and boyfriend.
But the Barge is a small pond for a big fish. Without a proper economy and all the mental acrobatics of his businesses and deals, Azul feels horribly understimulated. It's not a great way for an octo-merman to be.
He's become more paranoid, but he's also frustratingly found it more and more difficult to sleep.
In the library, absorbed in some book about the world of Earth and particularly its Arabian cultures, his restless mind finally finds some sanctity in the absorption of knowledge, and his body sags with the threat of looming sleep.
Collateral Damage on Deck and in the Dining Hall: OTA

The only saving grace is that he was wearing a rather drab mauve number he had been considering retiring before today. The question is moot now, and even if it weren't, it is no longer mauve.

closed to Wiffel and Wednesday
It doesn’t matter, he’s back. Almost a year later, but he’s back. He’s mentally making his list of people to contact, starting to get excited about picking up his cat from Malcolm. He’s back, back to Norton and Raylan and sibling movie nights and a clear way forward, a clear deal to make.
Neal enters the dining hall with his walkie talkie in hand, grinning to himself as he clicks the button down and it crackles to life. “Space Ace, Thelma, this is Lupin, do you copy?”

Dining Hall
She's out filling the coffee carafes and the little table of snacks when the roof begins to buckle. There's only a second or two before the structural integrity gives out and the dining hall is covered in debris, though Trixie somehow manages to dive under the table before she can be completely smushed.

He has no interest in going anywhere near any hole, but he does start picking his way across the dining room. There's no reason not to check if there's anyone injured who might need help. It's probably less of a hassle, in the long run.

This ultimately leads to Zerxus being battered himself, but it doesn't seem to faze him; he just wipes the blood from his eyes and whirls around to find the most injured survivors.
Next time he's wearing his armour to breakfast.

Get In The Hole: OTA
JFJ - OTA
Fitzjames narrowly misses the carnage in the dining hall, but he's there for the aftermath. There's a minute or two where he freezes, overwhelmed and more than a little frightened, but then he snaps into crisis management mode and immediately starts doing what he can to help—assisting with triage, pulling people to safety, and otherwise making himself useful.
When the initial dust has settled and it's clear that the hole isn't going away, he volunteers to have a look inside for anyone who might have fallen in, and maybe track down the miscreants who did this. He arms himself with whatever improvised weapons he can (and if someone wants to offer him a proper weapon, he'll take it), gets a flashlight, and joins anyone else who wants to jump into the darkness.

Fuck Goddamn Pits - signed Arthur
And then he lands. With a splash and an explosion of pain down his left side - he can hear John roaring in his head about it, but he's ignoring that in favour of pushing himself up so his face is out of the - not water, his smell registers before his touch, and he almost retches as he makes it to his hands and knees as the smell of blood, stuck to his face and clothes almost overwhelms him.
"Fuck- Jesus Christ-" His voice is hoarse, weak from the impact, and his legs wobble as he gets to his feet. "Fucking- J-John?"

To chase down Envy in particular
Landing was a disappointment. He didn't exactly hope to see the familiar ruins and bones, but it was a thought he had. If the real gates bring humans to Truth, then why shouldn't the false gates all go to the same place? But. He can deal with that. It's barely a problem.
The problem is the light and activity. The gate takes energy! It should have snapped shut as soon as it gobbled up everything in easy reach! This one's just sitting there like an open wound.
It has to close eventually, right? All he needs to be is still in here when that happens. He doesn't dare try anything decisive until then, or the barge will just snap him up like it did the two souls he tried to cannibalize to open this door.
Envy puts the hazy opening behind him and just runs into the indistinct darkness. He doesn't think this place has walls, and he's quick, even wading through the muck.

Creeping Dust is team "Punch Envy"
His hate rises as he approaches the portal, as he feels its pull on him. Strands of smoke drift from his form for just a moment before he drops in to look for the that one has fled inside. He blends in with the darkness there, like a black dog against a black sky. A dog with a nose for blood and magic.
He probes ahead with tendrils of shadow that he manipulates with a murmured keyword; currents of shadow extend out around him, searching.

"Oh bollocks!" she shouts as she goes in, but they land without damage. Iris scrambles back on board her pig on general principle, draws her staser and goes looking for anyone that needs help.
Zack Fair | OTA
He lands hard on the floor (is it even a floor), and he swears under his breath as he pushes himself up and looks around. Thankfully, he does have his materia on him, so there's suddenly a sharp glow at his wrist as fire envelops his palm.

I'm inside the hole with Arthur. We're okay, other than my fucking elbow which fucking HURTS. I can see where we are and how we're here.
It was some sort of ritual. That's usually the only way to get into places like this. That said? There's not a fucking thing we can do in here so we're going to need some assistance getting this shit fixed. Or broken.
WHATEVER.

Reid - OTA
If you need medical care, he'll be there quick as a whip, probably with the appropriate tools and supplies at hand.
If you died, he'll be checking on you and the others in a similar situation, and you might notice that he comes over rather quickly to check on you if you happen to have a heartbeat and wake up.
Anyone who just wants to talk or needs a sympathetic ear is welcome to come as well. Being a doctor is about caring for the patients and those who care about them.

Re: Zero
He won't care, and that's fine. Without a word she sits down beside his cell and rests her head against the wall, just intent on keeping this little Envy Statue company for a while. She wants to at least show up for him.
Plus the dining hall's a mess, and she's determined to avoid clean up.
