tonight we're gonna party like it's
Who: EVERYONE
Where: On deck, and anywhere else partiers might wander off afterwards
When: New Year's Eve
What: PARTY.
It's a party. You know what these look like, right? There's a buffet with nibbles and drinks of all kinds, music, swirling lights - and some outdoor heating to take the winter chill out of the festivities. Arrangements have been made to keep noise confined to the deck, so even any grumps on Level One won't be disturbed by revellers upstairs.
At midnight, there will be a countdown, and of course there will be fireworks (magical, chemical or maybe even both). You may or may not choose to kiss someone. No pressure.
Please post your characters' starters, mingle, imbibe responsibly and try to keep the fist fights off the dance floor.

Still, she'll be dancing to the music and mingling. Because fun

Mikodez, open; note for increasing failure to imbibe responsibly
He cheerfully networks the party; offering at least a friendly word to everyone he meets, picking up food from the buffet table and cheerfully taking to the dance floor. He might not know dances from Earth but if that was obvious, he would've been out of a job long ago.
As the night goes on, his careful projection of slight tipsiness accidentally slips when he misjudges what's in the glass he picked up. Perhaps he should've tried to eat or sleep even slightly responsibly over the last week but he's not thinking about that as he leans against the railing, staring out into space with an unreadable expression.

Alec McDowell
He's watchful but mostly leans on his usual charisma to greet and talk to people, and even dance if anyone invites him - or looks like they need to be invited. He does disappear before the ball drop, so to speak, though.
no subject
Eggsy sidles up alongside, cheerful in a blue tux with black silk lapels, sipping from a champagne flute. He offers another to Alec.

Callisto
She doesn't hang around long, doesn't show interest in the food or the drink, and only glances at the dancing, but she does turn up a time or two throughout the night.
And when the midnight fireworks go off, she's standing near enough to see, and she watches those with a hungry kind of intensity, too.
Re: Callisto
They have to live on the ship, together. He can't hide from her forever. And if they fight again, he'll win. The thought gives him a novel sense of comfort.

Letty Ortiz
She turns up in a floor length red satin gown, her dark hair loose and glossy, and not the least bit self conscious for almost the first time since she set foot on this ship for the second time.

It's a genuine compliment, nothing flirtatious there at all. He's dressed to the nines himself, as befits a gentleman spy.

She thoroughly approves, of course. Besides, a party is just what she needs right now. She's dressed simply, by Iris standards, in a little black dress accessorised with sparkly fishnet tights and ropes of haematite beads around her wrists and throat. The only bright spots are her wide scarlet smile and the cherry in her cocktail.

She can be found with a glass of wine in hand and a few things to munch on if she's to the side, looking to mingle, and if anyone asks her to dance, she might be in the mood to comply this time. The last year has changed so much for her. Why not begin to crack on this, too?

Jean Grey
It doesn't burn to the touch, and its warmth is more mental than physical. She doesn't shy away from anyone, as she mingles and dances and eats. She avoids the alcohol, though.

"You look radiant." He tilts his head a moment, turning over the word before grinning. "I'm not sure that's as good a pun in English so you'll just have to trust me when I say that there's a definite connection to fire in the High Language. Care for a dance?"

Hans Gruber | Open
If anyone were to ask him, he's likely to deny being there for the party at all; he just happens to be standing on the deck at this particular time, as people do on occasion. New Years celebrations striking him as a bit meaningless in this situation anyway.
Not that he'd be averse to a glass of champagne if anyone's handing them out.

Tris Chandler
She even dressed up. All her braids are twisted and tucked up around her head, with glass flames in blue, orange, red, and yellow glinting in between them. Her usual necklace matches, blue and red flames on a simple black cord. The dress is the unexpected part. Clark gave it to her over a year ago, and while Tris is incredibly self conscious in the thing at first, she's willing to wear it for his sake. It's considerably more fitted than anything she usually wears, and there are no petticoats in sight.
It will take some doing to pry her away from the edges of the deck. Tris has never been particularly fond of parties.
no subject
She's made her own (slightly more...haphazard) attempts at dressing up but, unsurprisingly, the only change to how she's sitting is that she's idly kicking the beautiful hem of her long skirt out with her combat boots.

Fives - come admire his pretty dress, dammit, he made an effort
Perhaps unfortunately, none of them, despite multiple breaches and floods, have any real grasp of fashion or gender roles, which means he's not wearing a beautifully tailored suit or tux, like he might have been had Clark dressed him, though it's undeniably beautifully tailored. It just so happens that it's an elegant, floor length gown in vibrant red, with a slit nearly up to his hip (because he had insisted on ease of movement and the ability to fight if necessary). He even caved and shaved his kriffing chest again, something he hasn't done since he stopped wearing his blacks, or the Under Armor he'd been substituting for them, because it had been visible under the tightly stretched fabric. The color suits him, and it stretches nicely across his broad chest and massive shoulders, showing off the sharply defined lines of muscle. The lack of sleeves is a bit odd to him, but it does show off the tattoo of a rotary blaster on his right shoulder, which is kind of nice for once... even if the heavy black combat boots he's taken to wearing in place of his uniform boots, his left vambrace with its compad, and his gun belt don't exactly accessorize well with it. But comfortable footwear is important and he's not interested in being unarmed.
All in all he's fairly pleased with the result, especially given Clark hadn't seemed disappointed, and he's not even remotely uncomfortable or self-conscious (at least about his appearance) when he arrives at the party, even when it turns out he's the only man present dressed as he is. He might have lived his life in a uniform, but he's seen enough of his own galaxy to know how variable fashion is, and to have seen more than enough powerful and well thought of men dressed similarly to what he's wearing. So he keeps his shoulders back, his chin up, and focuses on making an effort to actually enjoy this year's party.

Shiro
Whatever the reason, she's made an appearance at the party, and that appearance is very, very unlike Shiro. For one, she's wearing a dress, brightly colored and baring much more skin than she usually does. She isn't trying to hide the scars on her arms or legs, and her hair is braided and pulled back from her face in a complicated updo that seems to imply much more hair than she actually has, decorated with red and gold beads and clips. There's even jewelry involved, a pair of clip on earrings, bracelets, a pretty necklace, all in shades of red and gold that seem to make her eyes almost glow. There's a confidence to the way she moves that's also brand new, although there's still more than a touch of trepidation in her eyes. Even Kuro's dressed for the occasion, sporting a red and gold bejeweled dog collar that sparkles against his black fur.
She doesn't dance willingly, but she does say hello to a surprising number of people, and makes her way around the banquet table to investigate the food. And eventually, in the way of a Shiro, later in the night she wanders away from the noise of the crowd, finding a place to lean on the railing of the deck, looking out at the stars and toying with one of those braids that's come loose over the course of the night. There's a lot to think about, this year.

He grins at Shiro, easily moving to stand next to her without appearing to get in or out of anyone's way.
"I'd say you put me too shame, but, really, you'd do that every day if I hadn't lost the ability to feel shame centuries ago, so lets just agree that you look, as ever, amazing - just now in a different outfit than usual. A very nice one."
He tilts his head toward the dance floor.
"Care to take a spin? Not just so I can say that I got a dance with one of the prettiest girls here, though I'll admit that's part of it."

Erskine Ravel
He says friendly hellos, always ready to drop into conversation - or try to get someone to come out to dance with him. He drops by the buffet to pick up some food to keep his energy up and gives into the temptation to add a little magic to his festivities.

Hope Summers
She's also doing her best to enjoy the party making sure to find her friends for at least a few words, devouring large amounts of food and maybe even dancing - if someone else suggests it.
Re: Hope Summers
Comes the cheerful greeting of the supervillain, as he makes his way over to Hope. Cold still feels the lingering feelings of paternal affection, thanks to that breach once upon a time, and now extends his hand over to his "daughter."
"Wanna dance?"
Re: Hope Summers
Laura Kinney
She's even taken the opportunity to dress up, wearing a green chiffon dress from the wardrobe that brings out her eyes; she's accessorized with the leaf necklace from Mikodez and the bracelet from Shiro.
While she won't necessarily seek others out, she'll happily engage in conversation if approached, dance if asked, and drink if offered. Overall she prefers one-on-one conversations, but she's here to have a good time, not to grouse about social situations -- and she's pretty sure she'll actually manage it this time.

Scott Summers
Nothing terribly fancy, probably, except the part where everything is tailored (thank you, Emma), but black slacks and a white shirt and dress shoes - all in expensive fabric (thank you again, Emma). The one exception there is that his socks are atrocious (thank you Laura, for that one).
He's there, he's dressed well and, may miracles never cease, he's eating, he's drinking, he's talking to people and maybe most surprising of all he's actually making a point of getting people out on the dance floor with him. In fairness, the later is because he's much better at dancing than small talk.
But still, he's there and he is making a real effort.

Odd Thomas
He might have missed the memo about dressing up, he realizes as he walks in. A lot of people seem to have put on their holiday best. By comparison, Odd is dressed pretty casually in just a pair of jeans and a slightly nicer than normal t-shirt. It's just a solid blue, no cartoony designs this time. He shrugs it off and decides it's not important enough to go change.
He passes the bar without so much as a glance and heads for the food table. Best part of a party is the food, right? He'll grab a plate and then shuffle off to the side to check out the scene. He's determined to be less of a wallflower for this event. Although, dancing might still be a little too much for him to handle. At least he won't use his food plate to hide behind this time. He'll have his few pieces and then actually put it down and go talk to people.
New year, new him.

Bucky Barnes
People can probably find him lurking in a shadowy area, doing his damndest impression of a wallflower. Look, he might have once been a ladies man, but the road back to humanity
frequentlysometimes involves baby steps.Re: Bucky Barnes
The shadows seem to be a good bet; Yara spots the person she's only spoken to once on the network, and with a half-drunken bark of laughter, reaches for him to pull him out into the light.
"Knew I'd find you lurking about. Come on, find a drink with me. We've got things to talk about."
