luminous beings are we, not this crude matter

Who: Luke and/or whoever Luke's trading bodies with
What: During Nesting Syndrome flood
When: All during event
Notes for planned and unplanned switches: Luke comes with the Force, so it's up to you how sensitive your character is to the Force and how able they are to use it. This could include: telekinesis, mind control/reading (limited), extra sensitivity to surroundings and senses, enhanced reflexes/speed/strength, and could be at various levels of control.

Feel free to use this log to play out your character being Luke, too.

Luke's been cutting himself off, of late. He's pretending it's practice, working on his shields, working on discipline. In reality, he's missing those he's grown close to on the Barge. The absence, in quick succession, of old and new companions and friends and people-he-wanted-to-be-friends-with-but-were-actually-Sinjir has hit him, and while he goes about his normal routine (meditating, leading and learning from practice sessions in the gym, patrolling, eating in the mess) he's just a little closed off.

He knows the Admiral's announced another potential disaster, but he's never been the type to shrink from known or unknown threats, and the first switch takes him entirely by surprise...

It's not a subtle thing, Tesla's bloodlust. In fact - and Tesla knows this from experience - it rather hits like the metaphorical truck. But it's not a monstrous thing either. More a very insistent sort of hunger, something that's there and that can't be entirely denied. But it can be controlled, and Luke has the advantage of coming into his body when he's relatively well-fed besides.

(On what is a question he might need to ask Tesla himself, given that the man has been on the Barge for upwards of a year and yet has never seemed to avail himself of the blood the Admiral offers for those passengers who have vampiric tendencies.)

Of a lesser, but still immediate relevance is the fact that he happens to be something of a living magnet; while this, too, is something that can be controlled, it does mean that if Luke isn't careful he might find that anything metal and not tied down is more than a little inclined to start shifting in his direction.

Elsewhere, Tesla finds himself suddenly, and abruptly, human again and while he's been prepared to deal with that, it still leaves him blinking for a moment. But it passes swiftly and his first thought is to head back in the direction of where he's just been: the deck is certainly not one of the more frequently populated areas of the Barge, but it's probably better to not leave Luke without at least some idea of how the body he's just recently found himself inhabiting works.

Disorienting is certainly one way to put it. Not that Tesla has really done a lot of exploring what he can do with the body he currently inhabits, but to be fair there are slightly more pressing matters at hand. Plus he's been human a couple of times in recent memory, and while he knows that there are people on board the Barge who are more than standard humans he has yet to realize that Luke actually is one of them.

"I wasn't going to be the one to say it," he answers, with an easy shrug that most likely looks a little out of place on his borrowed body. "But comparatively, yeah."

It's not as different as he might have expected, though. Sure, he's looking at things from a slightly different angle. But that's not really so much of an inconvenience in the long run. Just a slight change of perspective and he can deal with that without too much trouble.

There's a brief moment of silence and a blink on Tesla's end at the question. It's not, precisely, surprising that he should happen to swap with someone he hasn't much spoken to. But neither is it something that he'd actually stopped to consider to any great degree. Still, that's hardly any reason to not offer his name, and given that they happen to be inhabiting each other's bodies it certainly can't hurt to know the name that belongs to the body in question.

"Nikola Tesla. Although I have to admit this is probably the most unusual situation to have to introduce oneself in that I've run into so far."

This isn't the first time Helen has found herself in a male body, but that doesn't make it less unnerving. Or relatively awkward. When she finally finds Luke -- she assumes he's the one who has her body this time, given that she now has his -- she tilts her head at him. It's like looking in a mirror, only the mirror image doesn't always look the same.

"Luke?" she asks cautiously.

Probably the center of gravity. Helen knows hers has been off since she first swapped bodies with Nikola. That had been the strangest. Luckily, they'd been in bed when she swap occurred. Unlike this time.

Instinctively, she reaches out as though to help balance Luke, but fortunately he doesn't actually fall. Helen winces lightly as she glances over him. They're going to have a bit to work on and that doesn't even cover the Force she can feel in his body.

"It takes some time to get used to, though until you're more used to the center of balance on a woman's body, you might want to take off my shoes." She has a habit of wearing two and three-inch heels every day. Those are more difficult to get used to and she doesn't want to risk him twisting an ankle.

As Luke struggles with her hair, Helen reaches up a hand to gently pull it backwards, tucking it behind one of her ears. "Try caressing it," she suggests, indicating her hair. "You can tuck it behind my ears for now, until I can take you back to my cabin and get a hair clip to pull it back with." She can do that even on the outside like she is. At least that way her long hair will be kept out of his way as much as possible. There are always a few chunks that never cooperate, but those can't be helped.

At his question, she purses her lips with amusement and flicks her eyebrows in that traditionally teasing way she has. "Have you seen how my legs look in them?" she teases, though it's with a note of seriousness. She knows she looks good in heels and she doesn't mind wearing them. They have always served her well, though she can understand how some might feel them awkward or dangerous to walk around in. "They do take time to get used to. I should have a pair of flats back in my cabin, but if you'd like to try to learn how to walk in these sometime, I could teach you. A lot of it is balance and knowing exactly where to place your feet."

If that's not enough, how about an out-of-body experience?

Luke's body leans around the doorway of the common room Bill remembers being in before the switch. His hair is a mess, and something is off with his pupils. He grins like a bear trap.

"Hey, buddy! You in there?"

Bill manages to unearth a positively ghoulish laugh out of Luke's voice box as he paces over to pin the triangle down ever-so-carefully with the toe of his boot.

"Wow, do you ever look pathetic! You've got a great voice for cackling, by the way, you should do it way more often! Don't waste your talents!"

"He-eeey, look at you figuring it out!"

Bill leans over his knee and beams down at Luke.

"What's the rush? It took me a long time to build that body! It's not like you're trapped in a helpless prison of a physical form on a boat full of giant apes that can pop your eyeball with one finger!"

Strangely enough, Tarkin too found himself missing Sinjir...or, at least, parts of him. The rebellious, drunken cretin he could have done without, but he finds he misses the challenge of his interesting antagonist. He had hoped to have eventually turned him back to his side...or, barring that, punishing him effectively.

He comes across Skywalker in the gym, walking by the entrance, and has to quietly wonder if he will be the next.

For a brief minute, Tarkin considers fooling Luke. But then, the man is a Jedi, and likely can't be tricked for very long. He gives a brief pause, before replying,

"I'm afraid you're mistaken, Master Skywalker."
grand_mf: (!Han)

"Excellent powers of observation." He replied, dry as ever. "Was it my tone of voice, or does something in the Force tell you the truth?"
