Care of Magical Creatures, 101
Who: Luna, Mewtwo
When: Evening, Sunday night
Where: Up on the Barge deck
What: Luna begins to teach Mewtwo about magic and magical creatures.
It had been a bit of a rough week. Not so much because of the broken Barge communicators - Luna hadn't really been expecting to hear from anyone she knew, given that they were all far too busy with their own lives - but because her inmate, Jax, was upset. One of his friends had gone missing from the Barge, maybe permanently, and there was little that Luna could do except unlock the pub for him and let him drink in peace and solitude. He'd come out when he was ready.
In the meantime, that left Luna open to fulfill a promise she'd made to Mewtwo, whom she'd decided she liked a lot. She sensed there had been a lot of discomfort between him and other humans, and had resolved, at least in part, to make up for it by teaching him what he wanted to know.
Which is why she sat cross-legged on the upper deck in the cold night air, sitting in front of a heated cauldron for warmth and waiting for the Pokemon to make himself known.

It wasn't sure how real that could be. Under pressure, being showed their true colors. But either way - a source of information was invaluable.
It padded around her to the other side of the cauldron and nodded, solemn and serious as always.
{Hello. What is this?}
no subject
"It's a cauldron." She said out loud. "You brew potions with it. Potions were never my best subject but I suppose we could use it to make hot chocolate while we go over magic and things. Are you cold?"
no subject
Mewtwo sinks to sit on the other side of the cauldron, a little complicated with a tail and three-jointed legs.
{I am not uncomfortable in the cold. But I know that humans must be.}
no subject
"It is a little chilly, but it's manageable. So you're here to learn about the magical creatures in my world, yes?"
no subject
[possibly Luna is nice to talk to. :c]
no subject
"I'm guessing you don't just want to know because you're interested in the lifecycle of a flobberworm."
no subject
{What is a flobberworm?}
no subject
"It's a thing that lives in ditches, is blind and toothless, and eats mostly cabbage. No one seems to pay them much mind."
no subject
[Mewtwo settles for sniffing the drink instead of sipping it, to wait for it to cool a little. Sweet.]
no subject
"Mostly we just use their mucus to thicken potions. It's not an exciting life, being a flobberworm. Although I suppose it's always possible they know something we don't."
no subject
no subject
"We should talk more about creatures with their own societies, like centaurs and house elves. I think those are more the sorts of things you're looking to hear about."
no subject
{Yes, of course. Centaurs are a mythological creature in the world that I am from, as are elves.}
no subject
"They're not very tall, and they're mostly found in houses of rich, old houses. Although Hogwarts employs a lot in kitchens."
no subject
{What is their society like?}
no subject
"They live on the fringes, and it's rare you'll see more than three gathered at any one place. They're separated from each other."
no subject
The disdain for this idea comes through in the telepathy like the smell of wet rot.
no subject
"A friend of mine is advocating for their freedoms, but it's not going so well. House elves don't seem to like being told they should be free. At least, most don't."

She flipped a few pages in her book, and glanced up cheerfully.
"Of course, there's always erasing someone's mind and replacing it with something you put in there, but that takes time, too."
no subject
It wasn't as though human minds were very resilient.
no subject
She didn't look frightened. Overall, Luna had a blissful sort of curiosity to her as she stared at Mewtwo with fascinated blue eyes.
"We have Legilimens in our world but it's a little different from being psychic."
no subject
Mewtwo didn't have nearly enough power to enslave a human any more. One more thing to dislike about this place.
{What is a Legilimens?}
no subject
"It's someone who can read minds." She explained, shrugging. "I've been told it's very hard to learn and you need to be almost naturally inclined to it. Wizards use it when they want to know what other people are thinking, which I think is sort of an unfortunate gift. Some thoughts should stay in your head."
