If anybody feels like a quick one-off game of DD&MD, I'm setting up in the first level stern-side common room. Everything's already made, just turn up.
Spam 1
[Bodhi has nothing but a bit of guidance he got from Ford a long time ago, had to raid the library for enough books to work it out, and is bad at keeping papers tidy. They all spread out in odd directions. There are no minis and the dice look like he stole them from the casino. Your character sheet, should you choose to accept it, might take a little squinting. He's better than he was, but "handwriting" remains a bit of a foreign concept to him.
The game is straightforward. He was tempted to slip a city to save from a horrible weapon in there, but decided that exorcising his demons here would be both unfair and counterproductive. The whole idea is to let him live in someone else's head as long as this lasts. So it's a pretty ordinary story, definitely ripped off from a holodrama he saw once. You're scientists investigating a newly discovered moon for resources, but Things Go Wrong.
He does the voices, surprisingly enough. They're even not bad. Watch for brain spiders. And giant cats, as Diogenes has come along in one of Bodhi's pockets and will occasionally jump onto the table for attention.]
Spam 2: CW alcohol
[It works as long as it works, but he's still Bodhi, and the press of time catches up eventually. Once his delightful distraction has dissolved, he does eventually filter over to the lounge to stare accusingly at a glass of bad whiskey. (Yes, he has to work to find bad whiskey under the circumstances. It's a self-flagellation thing.) It was never going to be a good night. He just didn't have to live it for a while.
He does take the cat home before he gets to the bar.]

You come up with solutions to problems and roll dice to see if they work.

UH, I'M ASSUMING FORD WILL COME AND WE'RE AVOIDING EACH OTHER RIGHT NOW! NOT IN A BAD WAY! EVERYTHING'S FINE!
[Everything's not fine.]
SO LET ME KNOW IF HE DOESN'T SHOW. I'LL COME AND CHEAT!

I'm using some of his old notes, so I don't know if playing would be that much fun for him.
[In case that also effects Bill's call here. He has no idea what the conflict is, but it doesn't seem like his business.]

BUT IT WILL MAKE IT WAY EASIER TO CHEAT.

[Isn't that quaint. The idea of a game where Bill does not destroy all nerds in his sight.]

Is it okay if I've never played before?

[He is, well, wrong about this, but he's also willing to do all the math for people.]
I've got an engineer, a biologist, a security officer, and a minerologist ready to go if you have a preference?
[He pushes several character sheets in her direction.]
Skillwise that's tech, medic, combat, and survival.

Mineralogist.
[She drops down into one of the armchairs, curling her legs up underneath her.]

[She comments, scanning through the character sheet.]
This is pretty intricate. Did you write it all yourself?

[And most of the storyline, but hey, Ford said that was fine.]

[She's vaguely aware of games like this, but has never played one herself; she certainly hadn't known how detailed and involved they are.]
Am I keeping my backstory secret, or sharing it with the group?
