18. A letter I wrote to my brother today
[ Text ]
If there are any Officers or Crew of the HMS Erebus or HMS Terror that may see these words—I, Harry Goodsir, would like nothing more than to receive an Answer from you. Likewise any Friends of the Goodsir family of Anstruther—or better yet—any of that Family.
[ Hoping against hope for John or Jane or his father, but any of his family would be a blessing beyond measure. There is also an audio post, the same words spoken softly, hesitantly. And also this: ]
Tunngahuglutit. Tusaalanga. Huřutit? Qanuriŋŋittuŋa.
[ Welcome. Let me hear you. What are you doing? I am fine. (Source.)]

despite her great love of history, and the length of history she has experienced, the name offered when she finally does see the transmission catches her attention on a personal level. it's really too bad harry can't see her smile, for it is a fond one. ]
I'm afraid I fall under none of those labels, although I should hope you would still count me as a personal friend. It's good to hear from you again, Doctor. I hope all is well?
- Helen Magnus
[ just so he really knows whom he has reached out to. ]
Re: text;
Doctor Magnus!
It is a Pleasure to hear from you indeed. I am well—very well, in fact. And yourself? How long has it been, for you?
text;
[ just long enough for her to go find will and make sure the prize of her deal made its way to safety. ]
I am quite well and haven't been doing much out of the ordinary.
[ of course, if he remembers her workaholic nature, this doesn't say much about how busy she may or may not have been. ]
So, tell me: What have I missed lately?
Re: text;
It has been a year and more for us, and much—very much—has happened.
So far as I am concerned, Teddy Flood has graduated, and Tris Kal-El and I are engaged to be married.
[Voice]
Hi. Hello? Other universe calling?
Re: [Voice]
Ah—greetings. With whom am I speaking?
Re: [Voice]
Goodsir, you said your name was?
Re: [Voice]
I did, yes. You may have stumbled on a rather rich mine for your research, Dr. Octavius.

Teddy? My goodness—a wonderful thing to hear your voice.
[ He's delighted! Also ... concerned. ]
How are you? Where—where are you?
no subject
Briar Moss
no subject
[ Briar ... oh. ]
I believe there is some Enchantment at work. Are you the Briar Moss who is Tris's brother?
no subject
That would be me. Have you heard of any others? My sisters would say that one is more than enough.
no subject
No indeed, you are certainly the only one I am aware of.
[ A pause. How do you tell a total stranger that you're affianced to his sister? ]
You may find this very difficult to credit, but I write to you from a berth aboard a ship that sails between worlds, upon which I've had the honour of knowing your sister.

"I feel as if I've talked about nothing but you since I woke up today." Her engagement to Harry is, after all, the greatest change in her life since friends and family left the Barge.
"Come and kiss me, please?"
no subject
He does so—he needs no encouragement, of course. "I've done my fair share of talking about you as well," he says, gently teasing. "Primarily to sing your praises, of course."
no subject
"Likewise," Tris assures him, wrapping her arms around him. "The most important change for me since I last saw anyone is how happy I am about the life we're planning. I had to indulge in a little nice gossip."
no subject
"I hope it was pleasant." He saw the responses to her post, but elected to not eavesdrop out of respect. Which was probably just as well. "It has been good to hear from old friends, at least."

I do indeed have that honour.
Clark Kal-El, I presume?

[ Of course he adds a bow. ]
At your service.

And I at yours—I beg your pardon for my confusion at your proper name. It's entirely mine and no lapse on Tris's part.
It's a pleasure to speak with you, at last.
