Good evening, everyone. I have two announcements to make. First, and unfortunately, it appears that Newt Scamander is no longer on the Barge, as I discovered when I tried to reach him regarding the restoration of the Veterinary Clinic -- which, consequentially, is now without a warden in charge. I was working for him, but I have no key, so I suppose any interested wardens had better speak to the Admiral directly.
[It's a serious announcement, and Fraser's expression is serious enough to match it, but under the surface it's pretty clear that he's in a very good mood. He pauses for a respectful beat, then lets himself relax and smile.]
Along similar lines, though unrelatedly, the Admiral has allowed me to, well, to host a friend from home-- no, just wait a moment--
[He says this to someone offscreen, who seems to be trying to butt in.]
And as I'm hoping to afford him as much free movement as possible-- just a moment, I'm trying to explain-- I thought I'd better give you all a "heads up," in the common parlance of my time.
[The quotes somehow slot themselves into place of their own volition. Fraser starts to move the camera, then stops and frowns at the mystery party.]
Oh, dear. Back up a little, you'll be all nose. [Pause.] Well, fine, then.
[He turns the camera around on what is indeed at first mostly a large, black, wet-looking nose; after a second, it backs away and the image resolves into a pale-gray wolfdog with remarkably intelligent eyes. He wags his tail and barks once, cheerfully. Fraser narrates from behind the camera:]
This is Diefenbaker, my wolf. Or half-wolf, technically. He's very good with people, and we've had a very serious conversation about the animals and other species on board, so I hope no one will be alarmed or concerned if they see him out and about. He's deaf, but he reads lips -- albeit selectively -- so if you do need to tell him something, make sure he can see you.
Oh, and I promise that he's being fed very well by me, so no matter how much he tries to convince you he's in dire need of your snacks, please don't indulge him.
[Diefenbaker lets out a thoroughly affronted little whuff. How dare u, he is perfect, etc. There's a tiny mutter of oh please from offscreen before Fraser turns the camera back around on himself.]
Of course, while he is his own wolf, I take full responsibility for anything that does happen as a result of his actions or lack thereof -- so if anything should come up, please contact me right away.
[Private to Jonathan Sims]
Are you still taking statements, Mr. Sims? I was a bit waylaid by all the, er, aftermath to deal with, but I think I'm ready for you now.

[For those who miss or don't want to respond to the announcement, Fraser can be found in all his usual haunts, with or without Dief: the Dining Hall, the Library, the Deck; plus, of course, he's sneaking into the Enclosure now more than ever, as well as frequenting the Garden much more often.
When left to his own devices, Dief will be exploring just about everydamnwhere, especially anywhere people are likely to have food for him, especially if that food is donuts. Despite Fraser's insinuations he does not actually talk, but he is a Very Smart andMostly Good Boy who may occasionally need to be chased away from the chickens. He is canonically infatuated with blondes for reasons that do not need exploring at this juncture. Feel free to NPC him, is what I'm saying here, and hit me up with any questions.]

Well, given we took care of matters a few weeks back anyway.

Indeed.
What's the best way to proceed? I've written it all down.

Well, then, you've done it. You would just... provide the documents to myself or one of my assistants and we would file it into the archive appropriately.
We'd more than likely ask what they pertain to... and we can- we can, of course, record them for you, audio or video. Or help you record it yourself.

[She sounds nearly as affronted as Dief. It's cruel, to show off a wolfdog and yank away one of the easiest means of building rapport. The necessity of the rule makes sense and she's by no means going to disobey, of course, but she feels entitled to a little pouting.]

[Dief rumbles softly and disapprovingly in the background.]
Well, I'm sorry to be so blunt, but it's true.

[Again: she respects his wishes. Again: this dog, by virtue of existing, is worth fussing over.]
Could get him whole obstacle courses, probably.

Alright, so maybe he's excited about Diefenbaker being here. Maybe. He knows the wolf won't actually know him, but he's pretty sure he can bribe him with food and get some seriously disgusting wolf breath on his face.
He doesn't respond to Fraser's announcement, he just knocks on his door. "Hey, furface!"

Dief smells stranger, for his part, though he sees Fraser is comfortable enough with him to immediately reclassify him as okay stranger. Then he smells the food -- fuck the bread, he's got meat on him, just sitting there in his pocket -- and lopes over to put on a very pretty show. Hello, kind sir, such a pleasure to meet you, won't you give a starving wolf your leftovers?
Fraser eyes Ray narrowly. "What did you do?"

Though admittedly, we... might try taking it on the slow side in your particular case, Ms. Gortys.

But yes, broadly speaking, I have a wolf.

"I'll tell 'im you absolutely insisted. Anywhere you want letting into, my love? Anyone showed you the Enclosure yet? Or did you want the first time to be with your man?"
She scritches his ears.
"You don't need me to tell you you're beautiful. But you are, sweetheart."

Still, Iris, being Iris, gets more than most people. As soon as he's into the jerky he radiates snack-related glee -- the wagging tail helps with that one, too. And he knows Enclosure, because that's the place Fraser talked about going, though he hasn't seen it yet. He'd be happy to go and run around right now, but he does have a dim, doggish memory of Fraser saying they'd go together.
The overall effect is something along the lines of: let's do it, but don't tell the man downstairs.

If you'd like to take him to run in the Enclosure sometime I'd be happy to let you in, he might like exploring alien planets

[He returns his smile broadly.]
I think he'd rather like the place you showed me. The homestead with the blue grasses?

"Sorry, kiddo," she says, "I haven't got anything for you to eat in here, and even if I had---I believe we were given strict orders not to indulge you."
(Yes, she is speaking in full and complete conversational sentences to a dog.)
"Come in, let's get you back to your master, hmm?"
That lip-reading thing, evidently, is no joke. Diefenbaker trots in, parks himself beside Fiona's vanity chair and so she perches there in order to pat between his ears while she types a message to Fraser on her communicator.
Your wolf seems to have taken a liking to me.

Should I come pick him up?
