[ Private : Video : Benton Fraser : Twenty Minutes After Port End ]
[For someone that just tried to bite through a man's arm, rip his leg off, and drag him back for medical experimentation, Alec sounds very calm. Actually he sounds - and looks - calm for anyone.]
Do you have your communicator?

[A few hours after everyone is back on board, Alec is on the network, calm and cool and professional. Almost detached.]
My name is Alec McDowell, for those of you who don't know me. I'm head of the infirmary. If you have any remaining injuries or modifications you'd like for us to treat, the infirmary is operational and fully stocked. We will do our best for anyone who comes here, regardless of species, status, or disposition.
I will also be conducting a rolecall of the manifest of the ship as I understand it. I would like 100% of passengers currently present to be accounted for. If you're conscious, please check in. If you have personally engaged with someone you know would not like to be contacted at this time, please let me know. I'll be searching for anyone that does not fall into one of these two categories.
It's important to make sure your needs are met in the wake of severe trauma. Thank you for your attention.

[And indeed, anyone that is not personally accounted for within 24 hours, Alec uses the list of the occupied cabins he keeps updated in his own head to track them down. He is insistent about knocking on doors, and thorough about checking common areas of the ship to find everyone he knows they're supposed to have, even if he's never spoken to them before. He has always been a soldier, but something about this port in particular means he's unwilling to have left anyone behind without at least knowing about it.
Around that, he does spend most of his time in the Infirmary, with occasional breaks to shower and change clothes or to collect food for himself from the dining hall, which he takes back with him. He seems okay, except for the absence of his usual easy greetings and smiles, the way he normally rebounds off the people he knows when he sees them; he's just busy, is how he acts. He doesn't feel much right now - he's locked it all away, mercilessly, with the rest of his life that looks at once startlingly similar and glaringly different - but he does know he's one of the few capable of fixing most of what might still be wrong with peoples' bodies. That's the first priority. Minds come later.]
