[Nineteenth Meditation]
[Voice, public]
[Rosethorn can't put her face on the network right now. Not after that breach. Not after finding Cambridge's door missing and Jim unresponsive.]
Captain Jim Kirk is in a coma. Hugh-
Doctor Hugh Cambridge appears to no longer be with us.
[Voice, private to Alec]
I need to see you.
[Hear him, touch him, convince herself that he's alive.]
[Voice, private to Alan]
Alan-
[She pauses, unsure.]
I don't know what to say. Are you all right?
[Spam, closed to Daja]
[Rose Scott had known of the Decembers, in that breach. But the two families hadn't been close, and the fact that their youngest was named Daja slips her mind, after everything else that happened in those last couple days.
Dead walking. Her son being murdered.
Either way, she expects to come back to a cabin as empty and still as usual, with no one waiting for her when she opens the door.]

During threads that hopefully you don't mind backthreading because OMG life the last week. But he'd never avoid a call. ]I'm... adjusting. After all that.
As far as I'm concerned, it was an alternate timeline. It doesn't reflect on reality for us now. They usually don't.
[ Playing the stoic card? Hell yes. Hell. yes. ]
Of course we can backthread
Be that as it may, it was very real to us for what felt like a lifetime. It's not wise to dismiss the effect the breaches can have on us entirely.
[Perhaps she's biased; last time she'd been tortured and killed. It hasn't been an easy thing to let go of.]
You are superkind!

'Appears.' Is his door gone?
[text, private]
I'm sorry. I would be delighted to find out I was wrong, in this case, but I don't think that's likely.

[It's not much, wouldn't be much from others, wouldn't be much from Dean in another life and another time, but it is what it is now: sincere, and an acknowledgement that it's difficult to find oneself losing people they'd rather not, in any way.]

[She takes a breath to steady herself.]
He and I are... close. I'll miss him, but I'll manage without.
But thank you.
[It's not so much that she doesn't want to look weak for his benefit. She simply can't stand the thought of herself being vulnerable or weak right now.]

I'm fine, Steve. Not tolling.

spam;
Another life and another family inside her mind, on top of an apparently long sleep and a disorienting awakening in her own bed in Discipline Cottage (for a moment, she'd been sure she was eleven years old again, waking from a long, strange dream), is... difficult to deal with. It takes a moment for her to register the footsteps coming towards the kitchen; she didn't even notice the door being opened and shut. It's another moment before she tears her eyes away from the fire, turning to look.]
Oh, Rosethorn.
[Her voice cracks just a little on her mother's name.]

She would've realized faster, if it wasn't right after a breach. But when she does, her expression clears. There might be a glint of tears in her eyes, not that she'll admit to it.]

[So, it's a few hours after Rosethorn makes the announcement, but he does get around to sending her a message.]
I understand this might not be the best time, but I have something for you.

She's a little more together, by the time she gets the message.]
It's fine, Rohan. Do you want me to meet you?
