twenty-one 🍄 video;
[ She looks different. All the basic features are the same--bone structure and eye color--but the weight behind them is gone. Like an illustration with all its dramatic shading removed. She's still a bit too pretty, the fairy kiss lingers, but she looks much more like any human woman now. The dark and the menace is gone. She is pale. And tired.
She licks her lips and contemplates saying something before determining not to. ]

this starbreak is celestial air just
silver; earthlight, dying amber.
underneath an arch of pallor
summer keeps his brightened chamber.
✹
Signs of life and all that. Wresting me free of the unspeakable depths did not kill me. Probably.
Do you think my mother is proud of me?
Nevermind. Tell me the robot does a worse job of manning the dining hall. Or you'll hurt my feelings.

[ 🌼 Not feeling very verbal at this juncture. Probably texting even in person.
🍄 She finds the lack of the outdoors on the Barge more intolerable than usual. So she stands by the door and waits for a warden to open the Enclosure. This time she chooses the seaside. The sky is grey over the resort town of Land's End and the waves are frothy white.
🍄 She does go back to her work in the dining hall but looks frazzled with all the noise once everyone's come in for lunch. She dips out to go smoke a cigarette on the deck instead of socializing and people watching.
🍄 Restless, she wants something to do with her hands and ends up in the art gazebo. She's taking her time with some small and intricate origami. ]

You do a very good job in the dining hall and are much better than the stupid robot.
:)
[ Maybe that helps? ]

And this is me, introducing myself! I’m Dr. Casper Darling. I’m an inmate!

What kind of evil doctor are you, exactly?

That is the biggest litter box I've ever seen.

This is my father's hometown and where he met my mother and Othniel.
[ She walks towards the water, leaving her shoes behind as she goes. ]
Re: Spam
IT"S BEAUTIFUL. EXCEPT FOR THE WATER.
Re: Spam
We tried it a few times as children anyway. Candy's eyes and nose started bleeding.
[ She sits down in the wet sand and lets the surf wash over her legs. ]

Re: Spam
My father runs a seafood restaurant. It's over there.
[ She points much further down the beach. It looks small at this distance. A wooden deck winds around the outside with a ramp on one side. But the big LAND'S END sign is certainly visible from here. ]
And I'm certain that you like salmon.
Re: Spam
Oh! I do love salmon, yes! We should eat some after this.
Re: Spam
Maybe I can volunteer in the kitchen now.
[ Now that she is less likely to cook another denizen. ]
Re: Spam
That would be nice. I adore Carl but he is a terrible cook. There was this awful pancake incident, I will not dare to repeat but it was just awful.
Re: Spam
Haven't cooked for anyone since I was poisoning Haran's brides.
[ She makes an expression of mild distaste. Her absolute rage at her cousin's attempts to start a family feels different than the last time she melted down about it. She waits for the emotions to explode and nothing happens. ]
I'm a good cook.
Re: Spam
Are you? I don't like to eat poison.

I suppose the kitchen demon could train me. No one else is qualified.

[ She gestures again at her father's restaurant. ]
The restaurant is also a front for daddy trading all kinds of creatures and artifacts for us. It's nice to have your own little dock where you claim all the seafood is coming in.
Re: Spam
OMG. Daddy trading? We can get new daddies?
Re: Spam
[ She stifles a laugh, bundling Donut in her arms to bury her face against. ]
Daddy *is* a trader. He'd go overseas for things that we couldn't reach. We used to have to go through people outside the family. That's why Adina was decent with my father: he contributed.
Re: Spam
Well, that sounds less fun, but I see.
