Video
[Thrawn sits in his office, hands folded over his desk, looking intently at the camera]
Good day.
It has now been forty-eight hours since my last physical check-in and as such, I am either dead, captured, in a coma, or have left the ship.
If I am dead, please take whatever necessary steps are required to revive me. If I am in a coma or captured, please do what is necessary to recover my body. If I have left the ship, a subsequent message will play when the dead man switch I have implemented has realized my 'door' has returned to its usual, pre-occupied state.
[no subsequent message passes. Thrawn continues.]
If I am currently paired, my assignment should be handed first to the inmate minder, whoever they may be at this time. After that, and barring my return or revival, I wish them warrior's fortune.
If I have a job assignment at this time and it happens to be mission critical, I request that my seconds, Sokie and D'Vana, are to be temporarily in charge of my key. If not mission critical, my key should be returned to the Admiral forthwith.
If I am injured, incapacitated, or in a coma, I request my body be delivered to the infirmary and remain there until such time as I either awaken or disappear.
Thank you.
[The camera shuts off. Thrawn's body is asleep in his cabin, having never woken from his last power nap]

He wasn't carrying anything, but twenty minutes later finds him with a whole ass computer with a couple dozen censors that he is carefully placing all over the man's body. Peggy pecks at a button or two here, though its unclear if she is helping or just being a bird.
He places the last sticky censor on the blue aliens temple and nods to himself.]
This is a wonderful opportunity, Peggy. I'm sure the information we can get from him will be fascinating...
Who knew we would encounter a Barge Coma so soon? We're so lucky.
Re: Spam
She didn't say anything. Instead, she made to grab Christopher by the back of the rain jacket and jerk him (sort of gently) backwards.]
Re: Spam
Oh...hello? Are you here to take him to the infirmary? I wasn't done getting data.
Re: Spam
[If Chris doesn't resist, or does, she's aiming to grab him and plop him over her shoulder like a sack of rice.]
You're not getting any data on Thrawn, invader.
Re: Spam
[He does, barely.
They spoke about how the ship needed more canons. But of course doing experiments on his comatose body never came up. He wonders if perhaps he could try and convince this woman that it did...]
I'm sure he would be fine with this!
Re: Spam
[She gave him a gentle swat on the back of the knee as she started to tote him out of Thrawn's cabin, over her shoulder. Nope, this would not be what Thrawn would want. She has his blood in exchange.
She knows him.]
If you knew him, you would not have violated his space, because that would have threatened your life. If he was fine with this, he would have said so.
That's the kind of person he is.
Re: Spam
[That at least was true, when he'd first arrived.]
How do you know? He probably doesn't tell you everything.
Re: Spam
[And she was going to keep toting this kid over her shoulder. Yup, real casual in kidnapping this kid.]
You don't just take medical facts or data on someone without consent. You saw the dead message. If he welcomed it, he would have been specific in mentioning how and what limits.
Re: Spam
He is now pouting. Peggy, who had flown into his hood coos quietly.]
Our first coma Peggy, and rules and feelings are ruining it...
Re: Spam
[She doesn't touch Peggy. Her senses are twitching at her direction as it is.]
What's wrong with feelings anyway?
Re: Spam
[Potato Chris's hair bounces with every step and he sighs heavily. Wasted potential.]
Feelings get in the way of everything! I ran history through my machine and it was single handedly the worst thing to happen to any best laid plan! I have the data to prove it!
Re: Spam
[She growls a little. No Thrawn harm today.]
You see, that's the problem. You tried to run history. History is a series of accounts from various records that are filled with biases, even when it is attempting to be attached- and most of the time it isn't.
Stories are filled with emotions, kiddo.
Re: Spam
[He doesn't like restrictions, and this is definitely one, though now that he's stopped squirming, he seems rather fine to be toted around, limp and complaining over her shoulder.]
Well, seeing as I am a person who has emotions and am biased myself, I believe this is still an accurate hypothesis. If I remove my emotions then I can become a better scientist and succeed at all my goals without fear of failure!
Re: Spam
Also, that, my little goblin, is a biased, and flawed hypothesis.
[She's going to poke him. Repeatedly, because she knows its annoying. Where is she taking him? Right now, Up.]
Fear is what causes us to seek better ways to do things. They say that necessity is the mother of invention, but fear is a great motivator. It creates war, but it also creates penicillin. Yes?
Re: Spam
The pursuit of knowledge and curiosity is what should drive you, fear is a motivator for making mistakes and rash decisions!
A problem to be solved doesn't require fear to ask the questions that need asking to create penicillin...
Re: Spam
Kiddo, it is originally made of bread mold, and also a lot of people are highly allergic to it. Fear can push you places. Not just bad places.
Curiosity pushes you places, and that is also an emotion. Without emotions, there is just...ennui.
Which would be troublesome for a teenager like you. This is the age of learning emotional regulation. You know what that is?

[ No response? No response. ]
[ That was very worrying message to see. Since Thrawn's name was still on his communicator, Wu Xin assumes that meant he did not disappear from the ship. So the monk goes searching for the man... or at least hangs around his friend's cabin front to find out more. Since that message went out, he expects there must be plenty of people responding already. ]
