Attempt 17; Liberté
No songs today, mes colombes. Perhaps this announcement should have come with more fanfare, but certain members of this ship have decided, entirely of their own volition, to steal the attentions of the masses.
No matter, I can adapt, as I always have.
I have a poem for you all.
What worlds we seek beyond the life we know
What adventure we find beyond the one we grow
There is nothing we must do but learn to look
And give ourselves the right to go.
I have graduated and I must thank you all for the small parts you have played.
I will not leave here until my sweet Billy does, so you are not free from me quite yet. But I do think my life of work is over, so Monsieur Lester, please consider this my formal resignation from the Wardrobe. I am devoting myself full time to my art and my science.
…consenting science, of course.

Private Audio
[It's very... polite.]
When he graduates, where are you planning to go?
Re: Private Audio
Perhaps I will live on a farm like he did.

I'm never really happy to hear someone is going to be a warden, but I offer my sincere individual congratulations that you've been cured of being dead.

And I do not plan on being a warden for long.

Welcome to the club, darling. It's terrible and you can hardly stab anyone.

Like breath or a balloon, I'm rising,
I hover six inches in the air
in my blazing swan-egg of light.
You think I'm not a goddess?
Try me.
This is a torch song.
Touch me and you'll burn.
[Her voice is still a little hoarse, but she feels like this was maybe something worth speaking aloud for her.]

I am glad you two met.

Text -- Private;
This vessel will be a darker place without you. A vast, cosmic ocean devoid of its most brilliant star. An unhappy cadre of workers without your inspiring light to guide them. A morning chorus without you to lead the sweetest of songs.
You have long earned the right to go. I hope you have everything you need, Justine, and more.
Re: Text -- Private;
I hope we see one another again. You are a good man, Gale.
Private
I look forward to seeing what this inspiration helps you create.
Re: Private
It shall be a wonderful adventure.
I will bring your shrine with me. Perhaps, one day, you will hear me pray to you again.
If not, know that you are not forgotten.

I, uh, I wrote a poem not that long ago, in the hope that this day would come. Do you want me to read it to you? In person?

[Her excitement makes her still-rough voice crack, and she has to pause to cough for a moment. Not that Justine would know why, since she hadn't announced her attack off of the Warden filter.]
And it's probably selfish, but I'm really glad to hear I get to be stuck with you a little while longer.

[Cloud smiles, and for once there's nothing melancholy about it. His words are casual, but his eyes are warm and proud.]
Congrats. You really deserve it, after all the hard work you've done.
[There's more he wants to express, but he's no good with words or feelings, so instead he says:]
Hey, now we can go to the Enclosure whenever you want. No escort.
