[For all his few months on this ship, Thrawn has yet to make a network post of his own: he finds some of the posts here largely juvenile, preferring to stick to direct messages, in-person communication, or reaching out to others in his own time.
This is different; he wants to be just a little bit petty himself.
He addresses the ship from his desk, settling his hands down in front of him]
Good day, Richter Belmont.
When we last spoke, I had some criticism for how you and your fellow warden Zack Fair conducted yourselves as custodial wardens. I told you your roster was bloated, your methods inefficient, your punishments largely unnecessary and your standards nonexistent. You asked for my ideas: I gave them. You dismissed them.
Doubtless you and the rest of our fellow passengers are awakening to an immaculate ship. I did not treat my fellow workers as slaves or soldiers, and I did not issue them commands.
I offered them incentive.
A little creativity, a little more work, and with half the usual workforce, the ship is spotless.
Doubtless your efforts to push everyone out of custodial with your odious behaviors - metaphorically and literally - would have eventually left you only the truly brow-beaten or overly-helpful inmate to assist.
I do not plan to count myself as one of them. I will be transferring myself to Maintenance, effective immediately.
I will also hand over my outline of what I did here today, and what incentives I believe you should offer in order to motivate your beleaguered workforce. My offer comes with two conditions: that you remove your noxious punishment to the rest of the ship and that you admit publicly you were wrong.
I look forward to your reply.

[And Thrawn will know, despite being a little bit dry, it is one hundred percent genuine.]
The punishment was a team effort, unfortunately, so that's going to have to be something I check on with Zack, but I am genuinely interested in seeing your working out.

Incidentally, the most common denominator was potential satisfaction over Richter Belmont being proven wrong.

Private audio
[ Absolutely not. He wanted to slack off. Not smelling like refuse was a basic requirement, but knowing it was going to turn into a military department wasn't much better.
But! For a friend, he'll offer verbal support! In private. ]

My sincerest congratulations to your successful project, sir. The immaculate state of the Barge was indeed noticeable.

Though I think your congratulations may be short-lived. Neither warden seems particularly interested in adopting new organization techniques, let alone new incentives.

Agreed. Which is why my proposal included additional incentives past the point of spite cleaning. A shame Richter felt he could do without.
Video + Text
I'm going to have to clean that up, but it was worth it! Good job, team. I was so spooked seeing something different about the barge, I almost thought the flood had come early.
[He winks and then turns the camera off.
Waiting to get tagged into the gazebo grated on him particularly this day. He might take the plunge and gather supplies to have a hoard for arts and crafts in his own cabin. The death threat over video chat in the meantime... screw it, he doesn't regret staying on the chipper route even then. His text top-level comes soon enough.]
It seems that the custodial team has had some discussions since I've left, so apologies if I'm retreading any ground.
But I think it's clear to see (quite literally see) that Thrawn has made the custodial inmates *feel* heard in a way that they haven't under the current supervisors. Frankly, if any other jobs on the ship really are sinecures for conscientious objectors? (Fancy word for "you can sign up for the job and say no to working".) Perhaps the other supervisors should advertise that more openly, especially because slots in most places besides custodial are limited. It's true that you don't have to work *for them*, but it's not yet fully guaranteed you don't have to work *somewhere*.
Planning some different ways to split up the members and tasks seems to be a topic that's gotten lost in the shuffle, unfortunately. The contrast between the two approaches does make supervising the inmates during shifts look like a higher priority for the wardens than anything else...
Also though, Zack and Richter *were* patient with me when I first showed up and was adjusting to my shift, they really listened to any questions I had about what parts were hard for me, and there weren't any problems when I managed to transfer over to the library. (For the record: library slots are kind of competitive and it's very much *not* a sinecure.) We can trust these wardens to do what they say... but by definition, they're working with new inmates who haven't had time to understand how safe they are here.
P.S. Wardens aren't automatically signed up for any particular job, and there's also no one with the official power to enforce attendance consequences on them, magical or otherwise. They just do their best at whatever jobs they do choose, if any, out of the goodness of their hearts!
Re: Video + Text
Unfortunately the matter at hand is settled. I was unable to come to an agreement or even wring a tepid admission of failure from either and then as I feared, it devolved into name calling and threats from uninvolved third parties.
