[she can do this she can do this this is okay and she is fine she can do this just turn the camera on]
Hi. Um. I'm Vaggie.
[Obviously not human, with gray skin and orange eyes--well, eye--Vaggie does otherwise look like a fairly young, slightly uncomfortable human woman. Whatever she is isn't that wild by barge standards, anyway. When she speaks it's a little clipped, but firm, and she has a low, simmering growl of a voice that makes everything sound just a little menacing.]
First off, I've taken a position as a warden here, and I'll also be supervising in the gym. I need to take a good look around and figure out schedules, but just off the cuff I can offer strength and combat training. I'm best at polearms, but I'm good for sparring with whatever.
Second, I'm absolutely going to do the job to the best of my ability, but I'm really here for research. I'm involved in a project with the same goals--redemption of sinners--at home, and frankly we could use all the help we can get. Any insight is appreciated. Anybody willing to sit down for an interview, I'll owe you a favor as soon as I figure out how that would actually work here. Ongoing offer.

[Vaggie's video was shot pretty close. On purpose. In person, there's nothing she can do about being tiny and skinny, though the pretty goth princess look makes for an odd contrast with her martial mannerisms.
And she may or may not have wings. She puts them away in narrow hallways and small rooms, but she's trying to relearn them, and in a place where no one knows her and her baggage, she figures she can get comfortable with her own set of limbs again without freaking people out. They're more sharp than fluffy and she's not going around with a fucking halo on like some kind of nerd, but yeah, those are angel wings.
She reports first to the gym, because she likes concrete responsibilities, but she considers mapping the place to be a basic responsibility, and will turn up anywhere that isn't locked or a private room, with the distinct air of patrolling. She made herself leave her spear in her room, but the vibes are still there.
While she checks out every door that'll open, she only makes two long stops, one on the deck to do the standard newcomer stargaze-and-brood, and finally in the lounge, where she finally lets out the breath she's been holding to stare at a beer and try not to feel like this shit is already hopeless.]

[This is the worst introduction he thinks he's had, but best not bite the bullet. God, he knows he looks like shit, but it would have been inappropriate to do this over a text or voice chat.] I will be out for the next few days, but Zerxus is currently standing in for me in my absence.

Uh. So noted. Anything I shouldn't touch in there? And have you done a lot of calibrating? Looks like the population's mostly mortal.
Re: [private]
[Again, he's so terribly sorry Vaggie.] I think most people who use the gym would be using it in a more human capacity, I've noticed those who are not quite human or are powered in some way don't use the facility as often, and if they do, they haven't complained about the machines as they're set up now.
I...Actually, I could use a walk, I can give you a little run down, if you'd like? I feel incredibly rude not showing you in person.
[private]
[She isn't opposed to anybody but herself taking time for self care.]
But I can stick to the basics for a while, too.

I'm on the I'm not on the redeemed side, but I have been here for some time so I can say something about methods. And I have free time.

[What the admiral thinks isn't irrelevant, but hearing from someone inside the system who she doesn't have months of weird baggage with is going to be more telling.]
Okay, so, really nonspecific goalposts is a problem, that makes sense...
[Sadly it is probably not a problem with a solution as things stand at home, but it's a goal to set!]

Welcome to the Barge, Vaggie. I'm Zerxus. ...Has Abel spoken to you yet?
[ He just assumes that's going to happen despite the lingering death toll, because he knows the type. (It's him. He's the type.) ]
Private
[She knows the type.]

Is there anything else you'd like to know? ...Either about the gym, or - a general interview is fine, too.

video;
I haven't been here long enough that I feel I'd be of much help for your interview endeavors, but your description makes me curious in turn. How do you define rehabilitation back in your old line of work?

Re: audio
And if you think the magical prison boat that signs on mass murderers as prison guards is actually meant to rehabilitate people, you're fucking delusional.

Deck
Or, the owl-like demon with four eyes who is nearly twice her height, lounging on one of the deck chairs with a book in his hands might just be some random stranger.
Stolas, on the other hand, looks up briefly, back to his book, and then does a sharp double-take of alarm when he recognises a fucking angel just strutting around the deck like she's ready to fight someone about it.
The temptation to run is very real. But instead he clears his throat as he sits up, ready to run but visibly unruffled as he closes his book.]
Do you... need a hand at all, madam?
no subject
Uh, no, just kinda figuring out where everything is. Hi, I'm Vaggie, I'm a new warden.
[It's already awkward, she's just gonna go for a handshake so it's a ritualized awkward.]
no subject
Stolas, darling. [He takes her hand, and his own is nearly twice as large as hers, wrapping easily in a politely loose grip.] I'm an inmate myself, unfortunately, but I assure you I'm not going to be a menace about this place like some of them. I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that violence is quite normal around here, so you'll certainly get your fair share of it to participate in.
