[When Stolas gets the video running there's a few seconds of his pupils visible on screen, bright white slits against his glowing red eyes, his neck extremely ruffled - the entire effect leads to a very obvious slip in composure - before he clears his throat and smooths his feathers down again. When he closes his eyes and takes a short breath, his pupils are gone again when he opens them, but the glow in them is still intense.]

I, er. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Mr Caffrey has... passed out?

[The camera drifts back and around, and Neal is visible - lying on his bed, unconscious, fully clothed and only slightly rumpled.]

I-I can assure you he was perfectly conscious and engaged mere minutes ago, I- I have no Satan-damned clue what might have caused him to, er. Drop. Like this. Is there some... protocol, that I should be aware of, for when your warden fucks off and falls unsconscious on you??

It's a Barge thing, lovey, don't fret. Protocol these days is that we get 'em to their cabins. Back when I first signed up there were less respecting boundaries and more drawing dicks on people's faces. This is probably better now.

'E'll be fine, and 'e doesn't need looking after while 'e's out, but 'is friends'll take 'is shoes off and make sure there's a glass of water in reach when 'e wakes up.

Must you have told him that? I'm sure we could have convinced him it was some kind of protective sigil.

[That voice sounds so familiar...huh. He can't place it, must be a coincidence. He's never met what ever this person is obviously and if he had, it would have been a shock. The video is easier.]

At least he didn't pass out somewhere dangerous, but that doesn't make it any more pleasant to witness.

Stasis. [Not coma. Norton is still committed to dying on this vocabulary hill. It's how he deals with how perturbed it always makes him. Other people call it something very worrying while saying not to worry, so Norton is committed to calling it something less worrying while worrying a lot.]

It happens to people here sometimes, always suddenly, never planned or intentional. Typically they wake up in a few weeks, none the worse for wear.

[He sees Malcolm has offered to get Neal. But Norton has spent a lot of time in Neal's cabin the last few months, more time there than in his own cabin. He has clothes there, a toothbrush, personal odds and ends, books and vinyls. It feels wrong to have other people sorting out Neal without him there.]
