i'm SO goddamn tired of seeing people rabidly demand that other people produce fanworks (fic, art, etc) for shit they want to see, while also framing it as some weird Big Fandom conspiracy against them specifically, and not, like, understanding that behind every fanwork are other real actual people writing or drawing the shit they want to write or draw and simply having fun with it.
"there really should be more content where—" like come ON, dude. if you so desperately want to see something: make it yourself; cheerlead others; cultivate an atmosphere that builds community and encourages whatever you want to see or what the fuck ever. stop being a tar pit and stop demanding shit of others like fanworks are content to be consumed and there's no one else behind the other screen.
i am begging people to remember that fandom isn't a goddamn content mill for your entertainment. it's real actual people participating in a community. maybe try being part of that community, instead of screaming demands at it.
maybe you'll even have more fun that way. who knows!
I’m cosigning all of this, and I’d like to add – and this is so true, I’ve seen it so many times – that “there really should be more content where” is NOT an actual request. It is a virtue-signalling whine. Not only will they never make that content themselves, if you come upon a “there should be more content where” and you show that person where that content is, sometimes for free, they will not go to that content. They will continue to whine, because their real fandom is whining.
