TV and stuff
So I kinda had an Avengers day today, watching all the Ironmans, Thor and Avengers and I don't know how often I've watched these movies before, but apparently I've missed half the after-credit-scenes until now. What??? How did that happen??
In other news, I'm still getting used to the fact that it's summer break. Still not sure what to do with all of my free time in the evenings now...lol. I might have to start reading (...which I should anyway to get up to speed with my publisher's program - but lately I don't feel like reading at all). Started watching Graceland this week and I think I'll stick with it at least for a little while to see how it goes. First episode wasn't too bad. I'm also totally into Chicago Fire right now. I started watching it when it first started and didn't really like it and then I watched an episode a few weeks ago because I was bored and it clicked. I've watched the whole season like, 3 times now.
What I'm done with is Revolution. Seriously, Kripke? I know you're fond of "What happened this season"-summaries complete with classis rock in the background, but while that works well for Supernatural, it was totally and completely stupid to do it for Revolution. I mean, I've never really been invested in the show, but that was the last straw. Not gonna watch next season.
Did you guys see my last post, by the way? If not, please check it out! Still looking for someone to help me out!

Kids. Who needs them?
Today was a prime example of why I never. ever. want to have children. Ever. And how incompetent the public transport people are here.
So I was on my way home from work, made it exactly one station by train, then the train stopped. And just stood there for 5 minutes. Until they finally announced: children playing on the tracks, so we'll be delayed a couple of minutes. Couple of minutes turned into another 10 minutes. Then they announced train services would be delayed indefinitely and they'd start implementing a bus service. So we all got off the train and started looking for the busses. Which weren't there. So I started checking for regional trains (which were still running). There was one, but that only ran half an hour later. So I stood there and waited. And waited. And about 10 minutes before the regional train was about to run, they announced they finally cleared the dumb brats from the tracks and the trains would run again. So I went back to the public transport track and lo and behold, a train came in. Granted, not the one I usually take, but I wasn't gonna be choosy. So of course, the train was practically bursting considering people had been piling up at the station for almost an hour. 10 minutes later, we were still at the station. And the regional train was blasting past us. Another 5 minutes later, another announcement (and that one's translated verbatim): "Folks....no joke, I swear, but we just heard that this train won't go anywhere. Please get off and take the next one." (The fact alone that he clarified that he wasn't joking...). So we got off again. And waited. AGAIN. Until finally the next train came along, which finally brought me home. Almost 2 hours after I left work. All because of a couple of stupid kids. Spanking? Valid punishment of choice in my book.

Entertainment Update
I miss the old Doctor Who days. Clara is really starting to annoy me. And the stories lately…meh. I really miss Amy and Rory. And River. And stories like in season 6. I LOVED season 6. And I really need a great moment soon. A moment like when you found out who River is. Haven’t had any of those in quite a while.
Re-discovered Chicago Fire this week. I watched the Pilot when it all started, but wasn’t really convinced, so I never watched a second episode. Now with the ultra-long weekend, I watched an episode…and then the whole season and I have no idea why I didn’t like it the first time around.
They cancelled Monday Mornings. Thank you, TNT. I know it means no more ogling Jamie Bamber in scrubs, but yes, worst medical drama in the history of television, so thanks for putting me out of my misery.
Started watching Downton Abbey. Only season 1 so far, though, because the friend who I borrowed the DVDs from has lent season 2 to another friend. Aaah. Great. I hate not being able to continue watching when I know there’s more.
I’m also starting to lose interest in Arrow. It started out so great, but lately it’s been kinda dull. The guy still only has 2 faces, the island story is still as obscure as it was in fall and the rest…meh. But we’ll see. Not giving up on it yet.
Watched Broadchurch. Resisted for a while, but had a friend who kept telling me to watch and it was really worth it. If you haven’t watched, go do it, you won’t regret it. And it’s only 8 episodes.
Saw Ironman 3 and Star Trek this past week. Aaaah, movies. I’ve missed you. Star Trek…story a bit complicated, but definitely worth watching. Looking forward to the BluRay, cause I feel I’ll probably have to rewatch a couple of times before I catch everything. And Ironman. Aah, Tony, what did I ever do without you? And why isn’t it 2015 yet? I need Avengers 2, so I can get my next Ironman fix! Loved it. Funny as ever and I refuse to think too much about the plot, because I don’t wanna find holes. I’ve realized thinking too much about a show or a movie usually ruins it for me lately. So yay Ironman! And yay Star Trek! Although the 3D-parts were mostly useless in both movies. Could’ve done without them.
And as every year I ask myself: how am I gonna survive the summer break? No idea yet.

Last day of vacation
How is it possible that my vacation is already over again? Seriously. I just want another 10 to 20 days that I can spend in a vegetative state on my couch, man! That vacation wasn't even a vacation!
Got new furniture last week, so besides living in squallor for the better part of a week because all my stuff had to be piled into my living room, I spent almost three days doing nothing but taking apart and assembling furniture by myself. Which was kind of exhausting. Thursday night, I was finally done, but couldn't spend any time on my couch, because I had musical tickets. And Friday to Sunday I had to go to my second job's bi-annual work meeting. Which is usually a lot of fun and we get to stay in a great hotel (five stars this time) and get fed great food, like, every three hours, but which is also really exhausting. I spent all of Monday half asleep (gah, I'm getting old if one little weekend can wear me out so much). Of course I could have done without Saturday night. We had a great dinner at a restaurant on the 20th floor of some hotel that overlooks the whole city. After dinner, there's usually some entertainment and this time it was a drag show (which made sense, considering where we were). Of course, there's a hundred people in the room, and who does (s)he pick to pick on all night? Me. As always. I swear Murphy's Law was invented just for me. So embarrassing!
Anyway. So of course I didn't do anything that was actually on my to do list and tomorrow I start my new job, so it's doubtful that stuff is ever gonna get done. Meh. Also: not looking forward to new job. But at least the month started with a public holiday, so it's going to be a very short first week.

Remember when I was whining a little while ago how much it sucked getting into a fandom years after the show went off air? Case in point: the only actually comprehensive and non-sucky BSG-rec-journal just got taken down. Noooo! That was where I got all my good fic and could search for it by tags instead of having to go through a million links and not finding what I'm looking for. Do not like.
In other news, I'm pretty sure today counted as the first kinda spring-like day here (which means it was sunny and I'm pretty sure we had temperatures above the freezing point). I'm so ready for this effing endless winter to be over. I'd really like to put away my boots and my hats and my scarves. I mean, it's fraking April and I don't exactly live in Siberia. WTF? (Of course, with temperatures expected to reach a whopping 8°C this week, we have rain forecast from Tuesday on. What else?)
Only two more weeks left on the job before I have to use up my vacation days. It's so weird to think about not going there every day and not having all those people around me. :( Especially since I've seen it with so many others before me - you promise you'll stay in touch and you never do. And four weeks later you've forgotten the person ever existed. All of this just sucks. And I know I keep repeating myself and I know I keep whining about it, but the suckage just keeps growing exponentially the closer I get to my last day.
No news really on the job front. I was supposed to get feedback this week on a couple of interviews I went to, but of course nobody called and on Monday I actually have to go to another "round 2", which apparently consists of a 4-hour case study that I then will have to present to management. Great. Just what I need to start off the week. Went to another interview on Thursday for a job which well, doesn't completely suck, but doesn't advance me in any way either (same money, less responsibility, way below my skill level, 12-month contract, but at least it's in publishing) and it looks likely that I might get it, but the question is: do I really want to? (The fact that I probably won't have another choice but to accept if I don't want to be unemployed doesn't really make me very happy either - but well, I haven't even received an official offer yet, so we'll see).
Finally got a delivery date for my new wardrobe and bed (really about time considering my bedroom furniture is literally falling apart). And just looking at my calendar is making me break out in sweat. For some reason, I don't have a single day off during my upcoming vacation. O_o Not how that was supposed to go. But yay for new furniture.
Anyway. Enough whining for one day. I should probably head to bed seeing as I have to work in the morning (and don't I just love working on Sundays. The perks of having two jobs, ladies and gentlemen.).

What a week
Alright, so so far, vacation hasn't really felt like vacation. Had an impromptu job interview marathon all week, which kinda stressed me out, plus, even when I'm on vacation from one job, there's always the other job keeping me busy (And annoyed. This year, most of my applicants can't really be considered intelligent). Also, I had to clean out my basement, repot my plants and refurbish my dresser. Today was supposed to be my cleaning day (can't remember the last time I actually really cleaned here), but I spent the whole day on the couch catching up on this week's TV instead. Seriously, I didn't even change out of my pj's. I really miss my student days when I had like, 3 months off in a row and did't have to leave bed for a week if I didn't feel like it.
As if I don't have enough problems
Aah, life. You tend to suck.
So, what's been going on in the past week? Work. A whoooole lot of it. Cause they dumped this huge project on my desk with a deadline in like, a week and a half (one week of which I'll be on vacation) that has me working 10-hour-days. Which basically means instead of slowly but surely getting rid of my overtime, I'm amassing even more. I have no idea when to take all the vacation days I have left before my contract runs out, not to mention overtime. Anyway. At least I have my own office now and Replacement!Bitch rarely comes to bother me anymore. Though she actually did today expecting me to drop everything to tend to her very needy needs (for someone pretending to be so great, she sure could be a little more independent. Nobody showed me everything in the beginning and I managed just fine). When I told her I didn't have time and won't have time for the rest of the week and oh, I'm on vacation next week you should've seen her face. Oh, she was pissed. Probably because I foiled some little plan to prove to everyone how great she is. Best bit of gossip? Her business card says "trainee" cause, well, that's our job title. However, since we work directly under the managing director as kind of an assistant to him, she decided her job title was inappropriate and didn't show adequately how great she is, so she changed it to "Trainee as assistant to the managing director". Okay. If it makes her feel more important.
Anyway. Had a couple of job interview last week, which were prime examples why I don't get job interviews. Both were for jobs I neither actually wanted nor was qualified for. For some reason, these seem to be the only jobs I actually get interviews for. If I'm qualified? I get rejection letters faster than I can say "rejection letter". Interview one went on, like, FOREVER. I think after 2 1/2 hours we had to stop because both interviewers had other appointments. But I'm still pretty sure I'm not gonna make to round 2 on that one. The other one must have been the most embarrassing interview I ever gave anyone. OMG, I didn't know anything. AT ALL. And I couldn't even sugarcoat it. So what happened today? I got invited to round 2. What the everloving fuck? Seriously. So basically all I have to do is apply for jobs I don't want and am not qualified for and I'm in or what? Go figure.

So my replacement is driving me crazy. No idea what bossmann was thinking when he decided it was a good idea to have her start a month before my contract runs out, because not only is this whole thing extremely awkward, she is driving me absolutely insane with her "OMG, I'm so great and I have to prove myself and I have to contradict everything you say because even though I've only worked here for 10 days I totally know everything better than you do, especially how to do your work." AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! Today took the crown when she decided to forego lunch because she wasn't sure the project we're working on could cope without her for half an hour (Seriously. Her words.). Considering I've been doing fine on my own with much bigger projects, I found that...well, a tad ridiculous. No, that's a lie, actually, I found it infuriating. Especially since that deprived me of the half hour a day I don't have her looking over my shoulder and can actually work in peace. Bad enough that I have to switch offices this week "so she can finally have her own desk". Well, should have thought about that before you decided to have us both there at the same time, shouldn't ya? That's how fast you get tossed to the curb around here apparently. Un-fucking-believable.
