Great article from Million Rural Women & Landless (organisation of peasant women in Tunisia) on the crisis affecting rural communities in Tunisia. The 1995 Association Agreement with the EU, WTO membership, and subsequent World Bank and IMF packages stripped the Tunisian state of tariff powers and other protective tools for agriculture and compelled the dismantling of state backed agricultural cooperatives. The result has been conversion from peasant farms focused on domestic food production over to larger farms growing monoculture cash crops for export. 70% of the agricultural workforce are women, but only 6.4% of Tunisian women own land. The daily wage of a female farm worker is about $6.40.
You can also read this article from the Transnational Institute on how World Bank funding for irrigation projects prioritised funding for projects oriented towards export agriculture, while peasant farming was neglected. This resulted in a degradation of domestic food production while small farmers abandoned their farms for more profitable livelihood, encouraging internal migration.

Can someone explain to me what the diff is between those people the usamericans call libertarians and anarchists?
American-style Libertarians are extreme capitalists, who believe capitalism should be unconstrained by either laws or morals. They therefore hate freedom, and love domination of one person over another (mediated in their case by dollars or bitcoins or bad pixel art pictures or whatever other currency they favor).
Libertarians aren’t against the State they just want to replace the state with essentially all the same systems but you’d have to pay for every single part of it so rich people would be able to avoid all of the rules and regulations. Of course, they believe they would be the rich people in this society.
(Most) Anarchists on the other hand are working towards a world of cooperation where everyone will be free because all of society will work together for the common good, and there will be no more class oppression. Instead of competition wasting so much effort and resources right now, we would coordinate and cooperate for the benefit of everyone. (Most) Anarchists are socialists who think the classless, hierarchy-less societal state that is Communism should be implemented immediately, and that we shouldn’t be using hierarchy or the state to reach that goal.
This separates them from Communists who think we need to take over the State and have a transitional system known as the dictatorship of the Proletariat (as opposed to what we have now; which is the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie), so we can use the State to then slowly transform Socialist society into that moneyless, classless society that is Communism.
In any case, (american-type) libertarians aren’t anarchists, anarcho-capitalists arent anarchists. any anarchist worth talking to is a socialist.

On this day, 21 August 1970, the Black Panther newspaper published a letter from co-founder Huey P Newton in which he criticised attitudes in the left groups towards women and LGBT+ people, and called for solidarity with the women's and gay liberation movements.
Newton criticised homophobia and sexism in revolutionary movements, commenting that "homosexuals… might be the most oppressed people in… society", and called on the left to desist using homophobic language:
"We should be careful about using those terms that might turn our friends off. The terms 'f****t' and 'punk' should be deleted from our vocabulary, and especially we should not attach names normally designed for homosexuals to men who are enemies of the people, such as [president Richard] Nixon or [attorney general John] Mitchell. Homosexuals are not enemies of the people."
The letter stated that as a basic principle, "a person should have the freedom to use his body in whatever way he wants", and went on to say that: "there is nothing to say that a homosexual cannot also be a revolutionary... Quite the contrary, maybe a homosexual could be the most revolutionary."
Newton argued that all radical events should include "full participation of the gay liberation movement and the women's liberation movement".
The move came a year after the Stonewall rebellion, and the subsequent foundation of the Gay Liberation Front, which supported the Black liberation movement, and militantly raised issues such as homophobia within radical organisations.
