Lookit! I did something!

So I signed up for a writing challenge, with the intention that it would maybe get me out of my funk. For a very long time now I've been just reading things on my phone and not using an actual computer. That lends itself to not writing because, well, I don't really like writing on my phone, the keyboard is small, the spelling errors are many.

I felt like maybe I bit off more than I can chew, because I couldn't come up with an idea that worked. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to accomplish and then looking at the word count and I felt like it was insurmountable.

I'm doing better now, I figured out an idea I want to work with, I've written 2,197 words. I know that's not amazing sounding when considering the 50,000 word count minimum but we all have to start somewhere.

Anyway, I randomly came up with a Passengers fic. Because Passengers pissed me off. It doesn't fit with anything I want to do, and I'm not sure it will go anywhere so I'm throwing it up here for the fun of it, also so I can get it off my google drive and I can stop looking at it.

I'm feeling a bit beat up tonight. I found out this evening that a woman I work alongside for the past 4 years died yesterday. She's been fighting cancer for double the time that I've known her but these past two weeks she really went downhill.

I won't claim to have been best of friends with her. We were work friends really. I didn't even deal with her day in/day out but in the time I knew her I learned that she was an amazing woman. She was kind, she was funny, blunt and honest, but mostly kind. She was a soft hearted person who help raise money for the local homeless shelters. She was in charge of over one hundred people at a time and she'd been doing her job for more that 15 years at the same office.

She was a single mother and her children are mostly grown up and I feel for them deeply because I lost my mom on December 20, 2015, and losing anyone is never going to be an easy thing, but losing someone during the holidays when everyone wants everyone to be filled with comfort and joy is an incredibly difficult thing.

She will be very greatly missed and I hope that her family will be able to find some relief that she's no longer in pain.

I'm not sure how much I'll actually be using Dreamwidth, but I'd like to get back into things a little more than I have been (ie. reading fic on my phone). And I'm attempting to write, who knows how well that's going to go, but one thing we all know is that at some point there will be an Octochicken.

Is anyone out there?


It's been a long time guys, I would be sorry but I've been busy and lazy and really not sorry I guess. Personal Life under the cut. I'm going to try to be around here more. I find as the time moves on I miss the LJ community feel, it just can't be replicated it seems.
