Wow. So, it looks like more SWAT Kats may finally be in the pipe after all this time!

I'm... I'll be honest, my feelings are cautious optimism. Remakes or revivals of old favorites have a fifty/fifty track record of success for me. Especially in a case like this when it's been so very long. Even with the SWAT Kat creators, the Tremblays, on board, the rest of the creative staff - writers, artists, even voice cast - is likely to be completely different. (Some definitely different as a number of the voice actors have died since.) Will it even feel like SWAT Kats with a new look, new voices, and probably new writing style? I don't know.

Still, the promotional art looks pretty great. (Though the backward sweep of the new TurboKat's wings will have to grow on me.) So, here's hoping it will at least be a solid new show in the same vein as the old one. I'm ready for that kind of adventure again.

Squeaking in late here, but I've been (mostly happily) tied up with the fact that the big family Christmas gathering was at my place this year. I had a lot of cleaning to do.

Anyway, as usual for the season, I've been gathering my peppermint haul. jordannamorgan outdid herself this year by sending me a box full! Thank you!

And, while it still needs a few touch-ups, I have (mostly) finished this year's Christmas image! Felina seems to be getting all the art lately.

It's a little something, but I want to share it. My most unusual birthday gift this year was this perfect complement to my Gamera movie collection. He's from my favorite Gamera era, the 90's trilogy. Many thanks and squees to MintySage.

Continuing my kaiju obsession, I finally broke down and bought this recent Gamera set. It is very nice. The older release I had tended to subtitle only plot critical dialogue and occasionally missed some of that. And, it was sub-only, so... Oh, and catching this in the opening credits of "Gamera vs. Barugon" was hilarious.

Lastly, finally watched the movie "Ladyhawke", which mintysage has been singing the praises of for years. I somehow missed this movie back in the 80's. Having seen it now, I enjoyed it. Oddly, it reminds me of "Dragonheart". It's a fantasy, but there's exactly one fantasy element - the curse - in the same way "Dragonheart" has only the one, last dragon. Still, the cast and scope is so small and focused this works fine. The weirdest element is the synth score main title music. It sounds more like the opener to an 80's TV show than a serious fantasy movie. But, it definitely put me in that 80's groove.

So, I'd been wanting to decorate the main room in the house with a few fannish touches. Recently, I remembered an absolutely gorgeous little journal with FMA's flamel symbol that jordannamorgan gave me. I also had a replica State Alchemist's pocket watch that was a present from my brother. So, I ordered a watch display jar and voila! They look fantastic together.

This was originally an alternate version of my older drabble, "Greed?" But, after a little re-working, I think it stands on its own even if it's exploring similar ideas.
