SOUNDBITES (2). Bitch-slapping and shit.
Disclaimer: You know. Malin Rydén!!!
Context: Coming back to life / from the war / from brainleakage after a hell semester and this is just a short dialogue to warm back up. Post villain reveal for Rom, which means post break-up for Rom and Daniel. If you squint. If you squint REAAAL hard.
What to expect: Yappers be yapping and sharing spit. A cop eats the wall. Very indulgent on all front.
2023.
(ROM)
You don’t, you don’t hesitate at the door. You knock with the heel of your hand, hard. On the other side of the dark you feel the light of his mind approach, and stop—and breathe. He’s the one hesitating: so close to the threshold, and as poised to step close as to step back.
He doesn’t usually think before he jumps, but then—maybe it’s harder to fall in truth than to fly above the fray. You’ve felt that first-hand, didn’t you?
When the door opens you’re almost surprised; when you meet his gaze you take the strike, the mind strike, you take the stroke, the sun stroke. Mh.
Do you still miss this?
“Good evening,” you say, breezily, as if you didn’t.
He tilts his beautiful luminous face; he doesn’t open the door wide. Still at the threshold.
“You saw the video.”
“I did.” Is that a smile on your mouth?
There is none on his.
“And you’re here to congratulate me?”
“For bitch-slapping a cop? Nah. That was a little limp at the wrist.”
That is not the right answer. Quick he’s closing the door in your face; quicker you wedge your foot in the space between and push it back. The offensive gets you an in, but no struggling, no surrender; with a scalding look, Daniel only turns around and walks away, thinking you to leave, sinking back on the sofa.
