Strawberries & whipped cream
1:59 PM 7/24/08 · As I've noted many times, my Mom is the best cook/baker in the world. When other people are talking about how good their moms being great in the kitchen, whether they're aware of it or not, they mean mine. She is beyond amazing...
...minus the little quirk that she experiments and makes these amazing things that I only have ever had once because she doesn't keep notes for these wonders.
le sigh.
A number of my friends tend to brighten up around my birthday because my cake is consistantly brilliant. Those that've had it anyway...I'm not so much anti·social as I realize the fewer people I invite the more cake I get. Still, a small number of the people I know are aware Mom makes these amazing things and vie for any opportunity to get it.
There's been many a project at home that needed doing that was too much for just me but I didn't want her helping with that I've requested the help of friends. Mom's the type that compulsively feels the need to have something prepared for these times and my friends know this...
...so much they often ask if Mom needs something moved or worked on just for the yummy!
I got a phone call today from
niveK who had an odd request. 
Anna's birthday is the 31st of this month and he wanted to know if she'd be willing to make her a strawberry cake with whipped cream. He barely got that out before I fell over laughing, which considering I was still in bed was pretty amuzing in itself. I relayed the message to Mom and she had about the same reaction, thank the Gods for speakerphone! As it happens Mom is unfamiliar with strawberry cake (wanna volunteer suggestions feel free) and I have to admit I only know of strawberry pie.
Strawberry shortcake, sure...but that wasn't the request.
Mom wanted a bit more information so I hadniveK call her directly and at the moment I'm just waiting and wondering if I'll be invited.
