• BTW, that bullshit about the Avatar not being allowed personal relationships and not having a family, yeah that's BULLSHIT. Zuko's mother, Ursa, is the granddaughter of Avatar Roku, making Zuko the great-grandson of Roku. It is specifically stated by Iroh in season three.

All in all, that movie was horrible. I hope M. Night's next gig is directing The Ember Island Players, because they suck, too. Seriously, this director should be fed to La for his HORRIBLE adaptation and I am seriously all for having his movie scrapped and rewritten and refilmed. I hope Bryke is suing M. Night for damages.

For smallearthcat:
I just ordered my Bamboozle ticket. Under Section on Ticketmaster, I bought General Admission/STANDING ROOM ONLY (there are two options, both at the same price). I am geeked!

In other news, I started the painting that I had eight weeks to do this morning. It is due tomorrow. If it sucks, well, it's my own fault. Ritalin and energy drinks will be my friends for the next 24 hours. Yay!

I'm looking for constructive criticism on my painting of floydiankate. I will take anything anyone is willing to give (aside from praise; I don't like praise); should you feel like just saying "You suck," I'm cool with that. However, I'm looking for maybe some advice on where to go. I think I've just been staring at it for so long that I'm sick of looking at it and just don't know what else to do other than "finish" it.

I know most of my f-list aren't in to art and whatnot, but I'm willing to take anything you have to say about it. I promise not to get defensive on anything anyone says, and I will not hate you for saying mean things (you are more than welcome to tell me that it simply sucks). Everyone's input is valid and would be greatly appreciated.

This weekend was extremely unproductive. So unproductive that I ended up skipping my class today because I hadn't done ANYTHING for it and I am ashamed of myself.

Friday was kind of insane. I ended up dropping my Image Making II class due to all of the shit that went down last week. The way I see it, though, is that the class I came in to CCS with was so big, the Illustration department has had to hire more teachers for certain classes every semester. If I wait around to take said class, I'm pretty sure I will get the option to have a different teacher.

However, there is a slight hint of drama. I went to financial aid on Thursday to make sure that everything would be in check if I were to drop the class and go down to part time (3 classes, 9 credits). I was told that everything would be covered and that I would get a refund check because of it. Well, I checked my stuff this afternoon, and it says that I owe $5,000. Everything aside from my loans disappeared, including my Pell Grant, my State Grant, my scholarship, and my CCS grant. When I went in to speak to financial aid, I was told that not all of it would be lost, and that I would receive half of those rewards based on a part-time status, and that I would probably be getting money back in the form of the refund check. So I'm a bit confused as to what's going on with that, so I might give them a call before they leave their office.

Also, around 4:45PM on Friday, I received a text message from everyone's favorite person, Seth Culp, essentially asking if I was headed to Shinedown that night. Immediately I offered him my +1 that I couldn't get rid of, and OMG he proceeded to get COMPLETELY SMASHED and I remembered why we like him to hanging out with us. Earlier I had mentioned to him (before he proceeded to down his vodka) the incident with Craig a few weeks back. I did this because Seth had worked that album, and had met the band a few times in the past. Well, this was a stupid move on my part based on the fact that when Puddle of Mud played, Seth came back and forth screaming about how HORRIBLE this band was...and then it turned into how awesome my tits were...and then it came down to, "Kristina! Rock stars love your breasts! How can I ignore them!? I LOVE THEM, TOO!"...hand motions included. The hand motions killed me. Seriously, these hand motions were worse than the time he found a condom and played with it (click here for details). After the show, I had to end up calling his wife and being like, "Krista...what do you want me to do with him? Would you like me to drive him home?"

Greatest drunk conversation EVER:

Krista (on speaker-phone): Babe, how much did you drink tonight?
Seth (sitting in my passenger seat): Uh...about that...
Krista: Seth. How much did you drink?
Seth: Vodka.
Krista: How much?
Seth: Uh...Vodka. Four.
Krista: Babe, you know you're not supposed to drink that much.
Seth: No no, I'm good. Everything's okay! I love you!
Krista: You're acting like Darrek [a former Warner FMR...pre-Seth, I believe, who I've met in the past and is a cool guy, but from what I understand, had a very serious drinking problem)
Seth: Darrek isn't here.
Krista: No, Seth. I said you're doing what Darrek would do.
Seth: Darrek isn't here! It was only vodka! What? What about Darrek?
Krista: You're talking like him. Nevermind. We'll be there in a half hour.
Seth: I'm fine. Darrek isn't here. I love you!

And when Krista hung up after saying, "Thank you for taking care of my husband, you can leave him in Detroit to wander around aimlessly until I get there," Seth was all, "You got me in trouble..."

I love this man to death for his epicness and randomness. I was actually telling someone at work about the forbidden listening party in the parking lot a day or two before this happened, too. I ended up leaving him in Detroit at the State Bar, and I was pretty glad to hear him leave me a voice mail the other day letting me know he was still alive. LOL.

Well, my plans for the rest of the afternoon include working on my Miles Davis painting, as well as getting my "Reality is good for you in small doses" tissue together. Hopefully I'll be able to at least stretch the paper by the time I go to sleep. Tomorrow, I'm going to set aside some time to work on my fucking 30"x40" painting of fucking DOOM. I'm actually referencing one of the photos I shot of spilledxpurfume in the Grog Shop, mostly because I'm going to be using some of the Grog Shop shots of floydiankate for my "portrait of a friend" for my Portrait painting class. If the both of them turn out well, I think I'm also going to do the one of sanguinequill from there, too, just to complete the series for the final painting in my Figure Painting class.

Returning to normalcy after this weekend has honestly been really tiring and difficult. I'm still absolutely giddy about everything, from seeing a band, playing some stupid game with a guy, and the best part: actually being around my friends. I still haven't touched my homework, and I intend on getting a bunch done tomorrow morning and afternoon after my first day of Nancy Mitter's class. I've done a lot of thinking over the past two days, too, all for the best, but still...some shit is really starting to bother me and there's nothing I can really do about it.

Meh.

I have no health insurance other than my Plan First Medicaid, so of course, I've been following this story for almost years now.

...It appeared that a compromise brokered Friday night on the volatile issue of abortion had finally secured the votes needed to pass the legislation.

As drafted, the measure denied the use of federal subsidies to purchase abortion coverage in policies sold by private insurers in the new insurance exchange, except in cases of incest, rape or when the life of the mother was in danger.

But abortion foes won far stronger restrictions that would rule out abortion coverage except in those three categories in any government-sold plan. It would also ban abortion coverage in any private plan purchased by consumers receiving federal subsidies.
Disappointed Democratic abortion rights supporters grumbled about the turn of events, but pulled back quickly from any thought of opposing the health care bill in protest.

One, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., detailed numerous other benefits for women in the bill, including free medical preventive services and better prescription drug coverage under Medicare. "Women need health care reform," she concluded in remarks on the House floor...

Uh, THANK YOU government, for allowing me to be able to actually afford health insurance, and as someone who is pro-choice, I think that was a fair compromise. I really hope these "free medical preventive services" include my birth control shot, being as it's preventing me from potentially being diagnosed with a super nasty cancer. Now...to make it's way through the Senate...
