I dun't wanna

((Note: Text between  {                     } denotes dialogue of Kanako's rarely active narrator.  If you're a character generally aware of the 4th wall you can probably hear him.))

[Out along the verdant green edges of the Lethe Forest, Kanako sat on the ground, long legs modestly folded beneath her in traditional Japanese sitting posture, staring at a flower.]

So I know that if I pick the petals I can find out if someone likes me, but is there a way to find out if I like someone else?  [Whether by that she meant Shizu or Okuu, she wasn't sure, possibly both.]

{Our poor heroine struggles with the bloom of her first romance, it's thorns irritatingly scratching at her heart for, to her, unknown reasons.}

[Kanako scratches her head... she could swear she thought she heard someone talking.]

And Okuu, there's so much to do, it's almost impossible to pick...!  Maybe I should just like... open a page of an S-class novella~ Try to do whatever that would.  Ohh, wouldn't it be great if it was one of those harem love story ones!?

Wait,  no, Kanako, do not get greedy...!

But every time Shizu sees Okuu and me... I just wish I knew what was Shizu was thinking, sometimes.  Kind of like what Mariya does to me.

{Oh, who shall be the kind soul who plucks the thorn from her, like the mouse for the lion!?}

I-Is someone there?

Ack!  Legs cramping... from seiza...!
dawning realization of 'why me'

Back dated to Christmas

[... K-Kana-chan was so lonely on Christmas. It should have been a day to celebrate LOVE as a couple, eating Christmas cake together and making out on a bearskin rug next to a fire place and Christmas Tree and under a sprig of mistletoe and... bawww...]

[So she got this great idea! She'd just stand under mistletoe, and cute girls would HAVE to kiss her then!]

[Except that then boys might try to kiss her too...]

[... and so hatched her genius scheme.]

[She put up mistletoe in a public women's restroom and stood under it, doing her make up in the mirror, pretending she didn't realize it was there and that she hadn't been there for hours!]

[She had put on a lot of make up at this point.]

[Her face seriously looked like this: ]
oh kanako~

WINTER

FRESH POWDER, PURE, SOFT AND LILY WHITE

Aaaah, even in the cold weather I am filled with warmth at the thought that tomorrow I might go outside and see

SNOW BUNNIES

Sparkling there in the winter sunlight that comes after the blizzard calms~

[Goes outside to play in the snow and plays with snow bunnies. What did you think she was talking about?]
FLOWERY KYAA

[In the meadows with many, many flowers she just picked!]

Aah, there's nothing more cultured than the feminine art of flower arrangement! I can't wait to get started! In fact, I'll start RIGHT! NOW!

[plops down and begins bunching up flowers and tying them with ribbons in rather random combinations ; she puts a lot of thought into it, but you might never guess. Still, flowers were flowers were pretty~]

I wonder what it says about me that I really don't know what I'm doing. I was never taught Ikebana or anything like that.

I guess what it says is that I'm a modern girl! Oh Mother in Heaven, please thank those up there with you from the women's rights movements who have allowed our horizons to expand so~

And maybe ask them to tell me how to do this. Hahaha...

Still, I can see it just now! This is just the kind of thing a girl would do in an s-class novella when she has a chance encounter with true love. Maybe if I just sit around here and wait, she'll come to me~

Ahh~ Oh what a beautiful morning~
WHOA

WOAH, check out that breast plate! Haaa, I wish I saw someone in one of these in real life over Halloween weekend--

--Actually, I don't know. You could poke out an eye with one of those things. I don't really think that sharp things should be anywhere near those, even if they are pointing away.

Do you think someone could run with an outfit like that? Would it be like running with scissors?

*imagines a busty girl running in that outfit. Bounce bounce bounce...*

AAAH! THERE'S BLOOD ON MY CARDS! *frantically starts trying to clean it all up*

The circus sounds really fun and everything, and oh how I'd adore going, seeing the attractions. Especially acrobats!

They're so attractive and flexible~ Aah, in my head I can imagine them spinning around me, like dancers of the sky, using my body as a pole to-- ooh, oh no, kyaaaaa, oh yes...

[Bleeds] But that'll just have to stay in my imagination because my medical loans or whatever they are keep me dirt poor... [sniffle]

But Halloween is coming, and money won't stop me from enjoying that! Why, we get free things on Halloween! Like candy, and pennies, and sometimes the local dentist will give you a new toothbrush or a thing of floss. She might give you an apple if you're lucky, but that must be expensive by comparison and oh how I hope there'll be a Halloween party.

Just imagine the costumes! Devil girls and succubi and witch girls riding brooms between their legs~~ and maybe some fallen angels~ It's such a wicked time of year, but it's all in good fun, isn't it~?

I just don't know what I'll do for a costume though. I don't really have much money...

... will Kanako be stuck with the old fashioned bed sheet ghost costume? And then what will she use after that for sheets?
FLOWERY KYAA

[Kanako's feet are in concrete shoes, which heavily scrape upon the ground, aided by a few tentacles in a bag that keeps hopping forward.] Oh my god, dear mother in heaven, I see people! Civilization! The fluttering of pleated skirts in the wind~

Even the brimstone and the pollen appeal compared to the stagnant air~

Oh thank you so much, creepygrueinabagIhavegivennonamebutwillconsidergivingonetonow! Kanako was saved all thanks to you~ I didn't know what I would do... I thought I was going to die down there without ever knowing the joy of a lover's touch...

[A few tentacles reach out and tangle into an awkward imitation of a heart.}

... I'm not sure whether that's adorable or creepy. Can it be both...?

((Demons gave Kanako concrete shoes and dumped her in a body of water. She sunk and drifted into an underwater air pocket in a cave where Kanako has spent the last few weeks. She was then saved by her creepy, loving tentacle monster.))
