Saban Acquires Digimon Anime Franchise

Saban Brands confirmed on Tuesday that it has acquired the Digimon anime franchise outside of Asia. Saban noted that it will work with MarVista Entertainment to distribute the series outside of Asia. Toei Animation will handle licensing and distribution of the franchise in Asia.

Saban "will debut the newest season, Digimon Fusion," to potential broadcasters and distributors at the MIPCOM event in Cannes, France on October 8-11.

Romi Paku Takes 3 Weeks Off Post Surgery

Voice actress Romi Park (Fullmetal Alchemist's Edward Elric, Bleach's Tōshirō Hitsugaya, NANA's Nana Osaki) reported from her hospital room on Wednesday that she is recuperating for about three weeks, after undergoing surgery for an unspecified number of polyps on her vocal cords. She cannot use her voice at all for several days, but she is doing her best to recover and return to work.

Voice actress Romi Park (Fullmetal Alchemist's Edward Elric, Bleach's Tōshirō Hitsugaya, NANA's Nana Osaki) reported on her blog on Sunday that she was discharged from the hospital without incident. She is taking three weeks off after undergoing surgery to remove an unspecified number of polyps on her vocal cords.

Park wrote that she will continue to abstain from talking when possible and focus on resting. She will be recuperating at her own home.

Digimon Adventure Season 1 on DVD

ANN has confirmed that the North American distribution company New Video Group will release "The Official Digimon Adventure Set: The Complete First Season" on DVD on October 9, 2012. The set will contain all 54 episodes of the first season of Digimon Adventure on eight DVDs. This release will be the first anime release by the New York-based company.

The set will also include a 36-page guide booklet featuring the original seven characters plus photo galleries and behind-the-scenes sketches. The set will include only the English language audio track, and will retail for US$79.95.

The DVD set is currently available for pre-order on Amazon and Right Stuf.

Digimon World Re:Digitize Will Be Made Into Manga

"The July issue of Shueisha's V Jump magazine announced on Monday that Digimon World Re:Digitize, Akiyoshi Hongō and Namco Bandai Games' upcoming game for the Playstation Portable, will be getting a two-chapter manga adaptation. The manga will be published in V Jump starting this June, a month before the game is released. The manga will be illustrated by Kouhei Fujino, who was an assistant artist for the Eyeshield 21 manga
