Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

mrtechlab asked:

You have so much movement in your poses, any tips on getting better at exaggerating that kind of stuff in your art? I’ve been trying but can’t get past “just stretched and messed up” into “stylized”

dedomlette answered:

Please forgive me for replying to your message so late!
I also apologize if I say something strange, because I don’t know English very well.

I’ll try to answer briefly.

I don’t consider myself a master of stylization, but I can tell you what rules I follow when I draw.
I’m an animator, and my profession makes me think a lot about how to emphasize what I see. If you want to depict an action, you need to enhance it, because in reality, an action won’t look good in a drawing with a stylized character.
I want to say that it’s important to enhance the character’s action by changing the proportions and silhouette.

I highly recommend sketching real people. Sketches are quick drawings that you draw in seconds, trying to capture the essence of movement. They force you to make quick decisions. But when you’re depicting something, it’s important to think about what the character is doing and how they’re doing it
It’s okay if your sketches aren’t perfect or beautiful. What matters is that they capture the energy of the character doing something.

To convey the character’s energy, you need to see the directional lines of movement.
These are invisible lines that determine the character’s direction of movement. They also create a composition. These lines help the viewer understand your drawing in the correct order.

I also recommend that you learn about negative silhouette and positive silhouette (I’m not sure if I’m pronouncing these terms correctly, but they are mentioned in the 12 principles of animation).

These are my sketches. I go to sketch sessions where you draw people naked or dressed. Many of the drawings are done in 10 seconds to 3 minutes

I can also show you an overview of my sketches that I’ve made over the past 5 months. I make these sketches when I’m out and about. I made these sketches as an exercise in storyboards. I was trying to create quick compositions

It's been just over a year since Deltarune chapters 3 & 4 released! I did the 3D work, which mostly means Tenna 📺 I figured it's been long enough to share some "behind the scenes" stuff, starting with a look at the Maya file for his static poses...

image

I'd individually render the poses to get that early 3D shine ✨ Here's some of them at their original resolutions! I would work from text descriptions from Toby, and sometimes there'd be a Paint sketch to help out. Gigi drew the concept that I modeled from and some poses too!

image

I had a lot of fun pushing myself to match the dynamic poses Toby had in mind for Tenna - making him so crazy and expressive was something I couldn't have done without his prompts. He'd draw the faces on afterward too, which really brought Tenna to life!

More of TF2 Monster AU

It's getting serious when I 1. color things 2. make any kind of references for characters lol

I landed on Solly being a Sasquatch. I mean. Bigfoot vibes fit him. It was thrown around by someone else too!

The mythical creatures and their basic bitch (all wearing so much brown) boyfriends (not really)

Anonymous asked:

Question about how you format your comics. Do you start with the sketches and then put panels around them or do you put the panels first and then the sketches in after. I myself am experimenting with comics and I really love yours.

wishfulsketching answered:

In short: awfully. Don’t do it like I do. I am not professional.

Thumbnailing is smart!!! Writing down the story/dialogue is smart!!!

How I do it:

image

The dialogue is mostly in my heart. Yes, this often gives me lot of problems

I don’t draw things one panel at the time. I jump around.

image

I put the panel in a separate layer but end up merging them when the art is finished because I DON’T LIKE TO HAVE MANY LAYERS!!!

With Days Off I have been able to keep the dialogue bubbles separate

image

barely professional

Pls have patience while making comics. I don’t have it.

I will merge everything I can whenever I can.
