Just popping in to say...

My book is now available on Amazon, etc. Due to unexpectedly high demand, there are a few minor shipping delays, but that's a nice problem to have.

I'd really appreciate it if you could share the link with your friends! (The book is getting good reviews, don't just take my word for it...)

Here it is.

With apologies for absence...

Although I'm still reading LJ regularly, I seem to have abandoned posting, preferring lots of shorter status updates on facebook! I'm not entirely sure why -- just one of those things.

Anyway, for those of you who are here but not there; we're all still very happy and very busy. Publication of my book is next week -- see here for details -- and I did a fun signing session on the school's prizegiving day; Neuromancer is doing well at work, and has taken to participating in triathlons; and the kids, both of whom are very happy to be on their holidays, are enjoying life. Katy has rediscovered horse-riding, and Dan is continuing with his dancing.

Sample Chapter of New Stars for Old

Amazon won't let small publishers list books for free, alas: but UK readers can now buy a sample chapter for 77p and US readers can buy a sample chapter for $1.17

It's for Kindle, but there are free Kindle apps for nearly every device (including PC/Mac) available from Amazon.

I hope that you enjoy it, and look forward to reviews of the sample! Do feel more than welcome to re-post the links to your friends-lists, or to share the facebook link over there.

Snow poetry

I can't post about snow without thinking of one of my all-time favourite short poems.

"She Tells Her Love" (Robert Graves)

She tells her love while half asleep,
In the dark hours,
With half-words whispered low:
As Earth stirs in her winter sleep
And puts out grass and flowers
Despite the snow,
Despite the falling snow.
