Kara Stillness

...participation here has gone way down. I've seen it for a long time. Liz and I even talked about it. And to be honest, she understood it too. The fact that this community carried on as long as it has after BSG ended is amazing. It really is. But with participation being so low before the hiatus and even lower now that we are back, I am so sorry to say that I'm going to close this community.



Should one of you really want this community please comment here (Comments are screened) and I'll pass on the community. I can't make anyone a 'mod' because of the 'ownership' issue that LJ is still going through with this (and many other) communities, but I can give you posting access.

We love and miss you Liz.

Over at icon_talk we've been doing this 1 image 100 icon thing. In part one we listed the most popular fandoms on lj. In part two we were asked to provide the most popular screen caps...and well it will come as no surprise to you that BSG and Kara were well represented. BUT...I was surprised to find that I hadn't iconned many of the BSG images. So I thought this may be the prefect time to do so.

Behind the cut are the 5 images that include Kara that were included in the screencap list of most common BSG images iconned. Your challenge is to...well obviously, Icon them.

You can use only the screen caps provided and you can submit up to the normal 5 icons. You can submit 5 from the same cap, or 1 from each cap or any combination of them. Blending of these caps is allowed, but please do not use any other caps.

I have to first say how excited I am to see some of our 'regulars' names back in the voting! I hope this means you'll be submitting icons again in the upcomeing rounds. I also have to say that were were a bunch of new names in the voting as well! I also hope that means you'll be joining us. I'd love to see this community pick up back where it was - or go even further.

And...while we are talking about where we were, there's another reoccuring theme this week...I have ties to be broken. :) We have ties for our 1-3 places. So if you'd take a moment and vote here, I'll be able to get your winners and banners up ASAP for you.

As most of you know our co-mod amidala_thrace lost her battle with cancer in March of this year. For this round I'd like to honor our beloved Liz.

There won't be any voting this round. Just simply a ton of Love for Liz.

Your icons can be of anything Liz would love. For those of you who might not have met her, Liz was a diehard Ottawa Senators fan. She adored Star Wars (mostly the three prequels), anything BSG (she was a multishipper of Kara with both Lee and Sam), and she was a trekkie. Liz also was a cat mom and enjoyed good Zombie stories/movies.

Many of you know her and her other interests as well. Anything Liz would love is acceptable to submit.

Like all challenges here, you can submit up to 5 icons. Since this is a Kara community, at least one of your icons must include Kara, but for Liz they all don't need to have Kara in them.

Again there will be no voting for this round, but I still ask that you keep all icons private until they are reviled at the end of the round. At the end of the round I will post all the icons.

Sorry for the delay, with the US holiday yesterday and I didn't get a moment last night to put this up. I'll give you an extra day on voting to make up for that. :)

As usual, when voting:

Um...are you guys still interested in this community? Maybe you just aren't into this challenge.

So far we've only had 2 people submit icons for our 'redo' round. I'd love to see atleast a few more before the challenge ends on Monday. If you have any questions about it let me know. So...your friendly neighborhood Mod here with a reminder, extension and information (is that too much to put into one post?)

First off the reminder:
We are still looking for more icons to be submitted for round 143. This round should be simple, no need to make icons from scratch, just spiffy up one (or five) of your older Kara icons and submit.

You can find all the information and submit your icons HERE at the original entry. So far 2 has submitted icons.

Second the extension:
Since I've sucked at putting up reminders (once again) I'm going to extend this one more week. I'll run voting with just the two peoples submissions (as they are SO pretty) but I'd love to have a few more in the mix. So even if you just can submit one icon, we'd love to see it.

The next close date is Monday May 30th.


and lastly the Information:
I've updated the user profile. I've added our loving memory of amadala_thrace to the page. But the only MAJOR change is that I have added the list of affiliates to the user page. I wasn't able to update the entry they were in before, and should this community (for what ever reason) change hands again I want the mods (or all the mods for that matter) to be able to update this list.
