[livejournal.com profile] matildabj tagged me to do this. I'd been sort-of thinking about it for a few days, since [livejournal.com profile] mistraltoes suggested I could do just five facts instead of 20, and I'd got up to three things. But I've had to cheat a lot by breaking some of them down to get to 20. It took about 20 minutes, but I'm definitely not tagging 20 people; most of my friends seem to have done it, anyway.

1. I was born in a house about five minutes' walk from here. Walking briskly.
2. This house has 25 windows, of varying sizes. I think. The sizes definitely vary.
3. Two are covered by built-in cupboards, and I'd like to release them.
4. Twenty have secondary glazing, installed by me when I moved here.
5. Two are double-glazed.
6. One we couldn't work out how to cover with secondary glazing, so it's single.
7. My favourite food is cauliflower cheese, as long as it's cooked by me, so the cauliflower is al dente and the sauce is smothered in crumbly Lancashire.
8. Last night, I went to the Manchester premiere of Pride and Prejudice with [livejournal.com profile] ajhalluk.
9. I wore my green and gold salwar kameez.
10. Afterwards, [livejournal.com profile] ajhalluk pointed out that I had three degrees of separation from Bosie.
11. More happily, I have three degrees of separation from Robbie Ross.
12. And therefore, as she said, four degrees of separation from not only Oscar but pretty much the entire English homosexual underworld of the 1890s.
13. No, neither Bosie nor Robbie Ross nor even Oscar Wilde appeared in this version of Pride and Prejudice.
14. England are 95 for one.
15. There was a nice cartoon on the Letters page of yesterday's Guardian of a Dalek hiding behind a sofa to watch the cricket on television.
16. Actually, it mentioned some other sport too, but who cares about that any more.
17. The cartoon doesn't seem to be online or I'd link to it.
18. Adam from Woodalls has come to put up the extra length of fence over the space by the garden wall where the shed used to be.
19. England just brought up the 100 in the 23rd over.
20. But they've lost their second wicket in the 24th, both to Warne. Don't think I've ever heard such silence at the fall of a wicket.

[21. 115 for three at lunch. Hm.]

I haven't been following the cricket at all, but I love that!

LOL at the Dalek. We were watching cricket too but midnight approaches and I'm going to bed.

I haven't done this meme. I've been tagged twice now so I suppose I'll have to. :-P

Yay for cauliflower cheese! I really must find a recipe so I can make some here.

Break the cauli into florets and steam them, but not for too long - let it be once you can jab it with a sharp knife.

Make a white sauce by melting a knob of butter, stirring in a spoonful of flour, then adding milk in small quantities and stirring until you have a smooth and creamy sauce. Grate as much cheese as you think you can fit in, add to sauce and stir in. You may add various other flavourings, such as mustard (especially whole-grain), sherry, or even turmeric if you're that way inclined.

Pour sauce over florets.

Oh, I'm pretty vague about actual quantities in white sauce, I must have known 30-odd years ago but now I just stick some in and see what works. Try 50 grams.

*Glances at large pot*

*Glances at fridge*

*Decides to go shop for some cauliflower and butter NOW*

*Curses Finland for not having double cream in the shops, damn it, a good sauce needs double cream*

If you've got a good enough cheese, it doesn't really matter!

LOL! It was definitely hiding behind the sofa stuff today.

Mmm, cauliflower cheese! You have excellent taste.

Oooh, what did you think of Pride and Prejudice?

Mmmmmm, cauliflower cheese, and gold and green salwar kameez and cartoon Daleks. Joyful things!
