Zimbabwe beat India for the second time in a week, and this time they claimed a bonus point by winning with nearly 12 overs to spare! It's a bit of a scissors-paper-stone tournament so far, as Sri Lanka beat Zimbabwe while India beat Sri Lanka in the first round - those two fixtures come up again before the final, but Zimbabwe currently head the table. That is not a sentence I type very often.

And meanwhile, may I introduce the new bookcase:

This is effectively an epilogue to the bookcase meme of two and a half years ago. Bookcase No. 10 is a new recruit to the study, which [personal profile] julesjones's Other Half helped me to bring back from my mother's flat on Sunday. Although it's not proper wood, just one of those laminated chipboard things, it's not a bad match for Bookcase No. 2, the smaller one on the right. And it's already cleared several piles of books off the floor, not to mention some of the double rows on Bookcase No. 3. Now, if I can just clear some of the piles of paper, I might be getting somewhere. It would be exciting to uncover a bit more carpet.

All hail new bookcase! I does match the incumbent quite well.

Not just a bookcase but also full of colourful books! It is a pleasing sight indeed.

Well done both to you and to Zimbabwe. However it's frustrating to not be able to read most of the titles on the spines of the books. :)

Well done, Zimbabwe! As Greg says, "It's a funny old game, cricket".

The bookcase looks good! What's that on top, a bull?

Yes, [livejournal.com profile] steverogerson gave it to me after I lent him The King Must Die. Can't remember where he got it!

I recently acquired a new bookcase (#5 in my case) to accommodate all the books from my grandparents that I wanted to keep. Typically, out of all the stuff crammed into that house, there wasn't a single bookcase anywhere, which was why I had to buy one.

Oh dear, that's as impractical as I'd expect from your earlier accounts. There were several in my mother's house, but she'd already given me most of the nice ones. I did take one other, a rotating one which didn't require any of my ever-decreasing wall-space.

And a very splendid thing the bookcase is, too. It fits in, and it must be very pleasing to be able to clear some of the piles. Does this mean that you will need to re-arrange books on other shelves, too, now that you have the extra capacity?

Oh, there's been a lot of rearranging already - the new bookcase has absorbed books from the three others in the study, and other books have moved around. I hope it means the ones I regularly access for reference purposes will be easier to reach, with less climbing over piles of paper!
