Catching up on the backlog of newspapers from while I was away, I discover that, the very day I walked past a crop of cauliflower in Gloucestershire, the Guardian published a bunch of recipes for cauliflower. No cheese involved, and one distinctly unsuitable for me, but I might have a go at one of the others with the second half of the cauliflower I'll be using tomorrow.

Sounds tasty. But I loathe the way the adverts cover the text on that page.

Cover the text? I can see one in the middle of a column, with rules above and below to separate it from the text. Oh, and apparently there's a pop-up that my pop-up blocker's blocking - perhaps it's that you're seeing?

It's the paper version that I'll be keeping for use, of course.

There's an ad with a red carpet that keeps animating and rolling over the text and hiding it. It isn't a pop up per se.

I have seen things like that on other sites, but I'm not getting anything like it here. It must be blocked, happily.

I think there's something similar in the Madhur Jaffrey cookery book I have, though I do her cauli and tomato one more often. Phool gobi... that's cauliflower in Hindi or Urdu. I ought to learn as many words as possible for it, oughtn't I? I think the only other one I know is choux-fleur. Oh, hang on - Blumenkohl!

I have a cauliflower and am planning to use your recipe on it tomorrow night. :-)

What was it like? I bookmarked those recipes and really should print them off. They all sound good but for prawns which I can replace with something else; nuts are always nice.

Not bad, as long as you like fennel seeds and dried chilis. Those and the tomatoes create a sort of mush in which the cauliflower cooks.

I love dried chillis! I have a whole bag of them. I think I have fennel seeds too. It sounds nice. I must try the curry one too.

Cauliflower is totally yummy and delicious, especially with a tomato-and-black-olive sauce. Ie tom sauce as for pasta plus sliced black olives. Serve with couscous and a squeeze of lemon. Yum!

It's 7 am and it's still raining. Unusually, I'm praying for rain at Headingley, because I don't want the WIndies to be whitewashed this series. It's such a shame that Chanderpaul and Sarwan are injured, though I'm glad that Sidebottom is doing well: he may be a Yorkshireman (who are either the salt of the earth or incrediblly rude - there seems to be no middle ground) but his hair deserves a medal all on its own!

But they can't be whitewashed this time, as Lord's was drawn. This takes me back to one of my earliest posts here (http://kalypso-v.livejournal.com/1611.html), though.
