would you perhaps want to elaborate on the deeply complicated Fizzmodeous engagement fight?
YES THANK YOU I WOULD
the thing about fizzmodeus is that everyone is going to have an opinion about it right. the public loves celebrity drama. i’m pretty sure people are canonically shipping these two online lol. the darker, less fun side of that (especially when you consider how much fizz still desperately cares what people think of him) is that not everyone is going to have a nice opinion, and they’re all going to be really loud about it!
i’m imagining they have a really sweet, private engagement and they’re both over the moon for about 48 hours before what they’re choosing actually sinks in, at which point the news is promptly leaked in the hell-tabloids. and it’s a lot of “it’s about time!” and “invite me to the wedding!” but also a lot of “ugh great yet another imp ends up with demon royalty that doesn’t respect him” and “does this seem a little exploitative to anyone? i mean, fizz literally works for ozzie’s club…” etc etc etc.
like, blitz in the aftermath of the trial is pretty easily capable of brushing that stuff off on account of the everything about him, but fizz is really, really not. so it gets to him! and it gets to ozzie (who is getting flack from both ends because no one but Bee is really in a position to understand his relationship. and we can also assume from what we’ve seen in canon that there are other social consequences of ‘tying yourself down’ when you’re supposed to be the Lust Guy). also maybe this is uncharitable of me but I can see blitz and barb airing out some of their own Concerns about the engagement and like. when it feels like you’re being told what a bad choice you’re making from all sides, it really does turn the pressure up. even if you aren’t actually being told that (I’d like to think blitz is just having a Residual Childhood Jealousy Moment and Barb just genuinely wants the best for Fizz and needs to make sure he’s thought it through).
so anyway. tensions rising. i imagine that would put strain on any relationship. i think they probably fight more over stupid things. i think fizz would start perceiving anything ozzie does to express care towards him as an act of control and ozzie would start perceiving any attempt to put (healthy) distance between them from fizz as a lack of commitment which! that’s gotta feel like shit when you’ve thrown your reputation as Lack Of Commitment Sex God out the window for this.
eventually they have a big blowup fight. very much “well if you think I’m so [whatever] then maybe we shouldn’t have the wedding” “well if YOU think I’M so [whatever] then maybe we shouldn’t!” type beat. then i think it would be nice if fizz went to stay with blitz for a few nights, and either blitz or stolas helps him work through things a little while whichever one of them not doing that goes to deal with ozzie. i think you could do very interesting things with either configuration of pairs. and they don’t need to stay engaged by the end but i would want them to stay together because i’m a sucker for a happy ending even if I don’t particularly care about fizzmodeus lol
Opinion of Husk mpreg? Because I think it’s a shame that the fandom always goes for Angel being the pregnant one.
I wholeheartedly agree.
First of all, I love trans Husk headcanon (I still can't believe they posted that merch and then claimed it was accidental TT^TT). Ofc being trans is not necessary for fictional mpreg, but I think it's nice to explore this headcanon so we can put it together.
I get that people see Angel as the more feminine one and want to put the baby in him, but that's exactly why Husk mpreg is interesting to me. This guy would have to go through a lot of issues to get to the point of accepting that he's a pregnant man.
Besides, I'm only a human. I wanna see pathetic Husk. Husk going through alcohol withdrawal for the sake of pregnancy, Husk having morning sickness, Husk grumbling about how tf did he let Angel put this thing in him. And take away his alcohol. Let him struggle a bit
Compareing Alastor and Husk with Vox and Val
Yes this is a bit cursed.
1) the first time we see Vox and Alastor interact with there winged pansexuals there calming them down. In the pilot Alastor actually manages to do this with booze.
While of corse Alastor has the power to make Husk do what ever he wants he choes to convince Husk to cooperate.
2) Vox and Alastor blow up at them when they feel like there power is being challenged.
Neither of these where nessiary. Both Vox and Alastor are reacting out of insecurity amd feeling like they loss control.
3) Val and ahusk are so fucking dramatic about there serial killer leaveing them.
They both had to be draged out of there spiral. Which is werid becuse they both should be able to be independent overlords respectively. Like there both like "I cant belive my serial killer is bossing me around" then when they stop there like. "I no longer know what to do with my self."
Obviously Val can theoretically leave Vox and Husk can't leave Alastor. Though I do wonder how much Val feels like he can leave Vox considering how integrated there lives are.
What do you think Angel thinks about Alastor? (I have 1 brain cell and im not sorry)
Angel also has one brain cell. In both the poilt and the series his reponce is giveing. "I could top that actually." (Yeah he's a bottom but he'd make a exception for Al.)
"He looks like a strawberry pimp" is still one of the funniest lines in this whole franchise. Fuck pilot Alastor I want pilot Angel back.
It is so funny that Angel clames to not know Alastor when Alastor has been fighting Val for decades. I guess it's not really any of Angels business who Val fights.
We know he feels bad for Husk being owned by him. I don't think he's makeing any assumptions about Husk and Alastor's relationship. I don't think he prys becuse he dosn't want Husk digging into his truama. He can see that Husk isn't scared of Al the way he is scared of Val. Pluss he knows Husk lost his sould becuse of gambling not overt manipulation so there relationship is clearly less personal.
I think Angel sees Alastor as more of a cryptid than a man which is how Alastor likes it.
I like to think about it, so I'll add my three cents. Though to be fair, I may be reading too deep into Angel lmao
First of all, Angel sees men in general in a whole different category than any other gender. Because, sure, while he expects everyone to be attracted to him (how is this guy so proud and confident and so self-loathing at the same time come on??), he's openly gay, and his audiences know about it. So, he expects everyone to find him hot, but he thinks he's expected to perform for men specifically.
His performance for men can go in various different ways (especially at the beginning, when his porn star persona was the most flashed out and he was the least sincere). Sometimes, men look down on him, sometimes they fuck him, oftentimes it's both. At the beginning, Angel is convinced that if someone likes men, they have to want to fuck Angel. (Because if they didn't, that would mean Angel lost the last of what he's worth in his head, and that sort of mindset, as toxic as it is, is protecting him.) Now, there comes Alastor, who is so clearly not attracted to Angel (I'm sorry, RadioDust shippers, it's myyyy interpretation). Which. What the fuck. Now, Angel's from the 1930's, I wouldn't be surprised if he had some internalized acepgobia going on, but I think it's more of a "this guy doesn't want to fuck me??? What the hell?". Of course, Angel technically knows about the existence of straight men, but he doesn't believe in them anyway. I mean, I wouldn't either /j
Alastor does have the efect on women of "this guy feels safe because he isn't pursuing me in a sexual way" that is normally reversed for gay men. Alastor really wants nothing from Angel.
This does make me wonder if part of why Angel felt so confortable around Husk is becuase before he knew Husk he knew that if Husk was agressive towards him Alastor would step in. Alastor is kind of like the hotel bouncer in that way. In that way Alastor is a major part of why Angel felt safe at the hotel in season 1 which is kind of crazy becuase he isn't trying to do that. Alastor is so good at being accidently good.
@justsomewritingcat as a certified Alastor girlie (tm) I honestly see no evidence that Alastor doesn't see the parallels between how Rosie treats him and how he treats Husk. Note that he only starts copying her (petting his ears) after Husk reminds him of her (where were you for seven years). I think Alastor is well aware that he's taking out his frustration with Rosie on Husk - and this doesn't seem to be a regular occurence? Husk didn't expect that reaction, he's used to Alastor just letting people talk shit with a smile.
I do also think Alastor ~forcing~ Husk to be at the hotel is an instance of Alastor taking care of him actually. We know he dragged Husk away from a gambling table; we know Husk thinks of his ganbling habit as an addiction that's bad for him; we know Husk didn't go wild while working at the hotel until he decided to "quit". Even though Alastor "bought him with cheap booze", this job is effectively an addiction recovery program for Husk.
Now the question is. Does Angel recognize this, and harbor quiet envy towards Husk for having what Angel had once thought he'd have with Valentino? Or does Angel expect Alastor to be "showing his true colors" with Husk where Angel cannot see? :D
That's fair, I didn't give Alastor enough credit. I just always assumed he's not really aware that he treats Husk the same way Rosie treats him, but looking back at it, it makes sense as well. I think it's one of those things that's left for the interpretation
When it comes to Alastor helping Husk, I disagree.
On one hand, I think Alastor does care about Husk in his own way. After all, Husk and Niffty are the only Overlords whose souls he didn't tear into shreds, and that means something. While Niffty is absolutely Alastor's bestie, I wonder why he did the same for Husk. I guess they were some sort of friends (though Alastor wouldn't use this word) once, and even though Husk doesn't like Alastor now (maybe to the point of hate), Alastor still carries some kind of sentiment towards Husk.
That said, it doesn't feel enough for Alastor to specifically take Husk into the Hotel so he could do something with his addictions. Alastor needed some staff for the Hotel, any staff, and as I see it, he didn't have much options. Sure, he's got his shadow guys, but we all know Charlie would prefer for real people to work there (especially since at the moment, all people at the hotel were her, Vaggi and Angel). So Alastor chose Husk and Niffty, two people who probably helped him with some shit in the past (willingly or not), and now were needed for another job.
Besides, Alastor from the start didn't believe in the hotel's mission. Not only that, I don't think he believed the hotel could help with addictions. Especially since he just saw Angel going back to his old ways on live TV (and Angel's old ways include drugs). That, and he provided Husk with booze. That's not something you do when you want alcoholic to stop drinking. I agree that Husk ended up drinking wayyyy less than he used to (season 1 vs season 2 gives us a bug contrast on that), but I think it happened rather unexpectedly for both Husk and Alastor.
When it comes to gambling, it feels to me like Alastor wanted Husk to actually do his job for the most part, and he knew that if he let Husk come to the casino, he wouldn't see him for the rest of the day. Or week. (And just btw, right now, at the end of season 2, gambling seems like a bigger issue for Husk than alcohol. I mean, he's drinking way less than in season 1 overall, but he goes gambling the second he gets the chance to. He's still really addicted, just mostly doesn't have the ability to indulge in this addiction.)
I still think Angel being jealous of Husk's deal is an amazing idea. Maybe not that he sees Husk's (platonic) relationship with Alastor as what he could've had with Valentino (even ignoring our different approaches to this relationship, I feel like Valentino and Angel had some sort of sexual and/or romantic past together, and that's not the case for Alastor and Husk). But Husk still got way more lucky when he lost his soul. I mean, obviously Alastor's approach isn't the best, but it's not that bad compared to Valentino's approach, which is just straight up abuse and emotional manipulation all the time. Especially if, sometimes, Husk and Alastor are actually on good terms. Maybe they share a dry joke or two, maybe they drink together, sometimes Husk doesn't hate Alastor all that much and Alastor enjoys Husk's company. Angel would give a lot for that, because in his case, any kind of bonding moment with Valentino turns against him sooner or later.
So as I see it, one part of Angel feels sorry for Husk, but another envies him. And boy, does he feel wrong for it and absolutely hate this part.
yessss you see the vision!!!!
And Husk did not go gambling *immediately* once he had the chance. The moment he could is, at worst (as per his own words), the minute Alastor quit the hotel. And I suspect he could have honestly gone any time, just ask for time off, it's not like Charlie would deny him. Instead he's pretty much clean until Charlie and Vaggi drive him to quitting with their drama.
The reason I think Alastor did this on purpose is, Mimzy says he used to habitually have Husk be his bartender. And Husk falls into the habits of the job very easily, he appears to genuinely like it: he's ornery towards customers, but he's ALLOWED to, he's pretty much his own boss at the bar. And he goes all "sounds like you need a bartender" to Angel when very much not on the job, so he clearly enjoys the role.
He is, however, in firm denial, because he sees working a customer service job as beneath him (established in between Love in a Bottle and Losing Streak).
Does this not sound to you, at this point, like something Alastor would do knowingly and on purpose, teasing him with "cheap booze" at that? (Which does sound different in the context that Husk is RICH and OWNS a drinking establishment, doesn't it?)
My bad, I forgot about the lesbian drama Husk decided he wants nothing to do with anymore right before he relapsed. Sorry for that ^_^" I guess it really could be called a relapse more than going back to his old ways the second the could (good for him :D)
I agree that Husk sees himself as a bartender, but that doesn't he mean he automatically likes his job. "You actually think I'd be cleaning bottles and listening to you fucks bitch and moan all the time if he wasn't forcing me?" or "now this is living. Not wasting my life behind some bar." To me, it seems like he just really doesn't particularly enjoy this job instead of thinking it's "below him". I mean, at this point in his afterlife, he openly calls himself a loser, I imagine there's not much he thinks he's too good for. Sure, he's rude about it, but as far as we know, he might enjoy mixing drinks from time to time (for example for people he likes), but especially at the beginning, ha hates the idea.
It doesn't seem like the mere routine makes him drink less, since in season 1, we see him with a bottle/drinking almost every time he's on a screen. I think it's not the job itself (providing him more or less free alcohol at any given moment), but rather the hotel itself.
Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
one of the best decisions I’ve made was leave wattpad for archive of our own
“what’s the tea?” wattpad is pro censorship and driven mainly by capitalism, any work that is taboo and work that is just “smut without plot” is considered against wattpad’s rules and it can get removed if someone reports it to wattpad.
wattpad is also literally full of ads. if you want an ad-free wattpad experience, you will have to subscribe to wattpad premium. this won’t protect your works from censorship, it will just remove ads for you — so you can read fics without getting interrupted by ads every time you move to the next chapter.
also I guess wattpad premium allows you to download as many works as you want to read offline. whereas if you’re on free plan, you can only download a few works to read offline.
I believe the platform recently updates their rules. nothing changes. you still get ads and censorship. but they just make the rules more strict in regards of smut without any real plot. so basically their new policy just makes things even worse for their own users.
mind you, on ao3, there’s zero censorship. you can post the most filthy porn without plot fic on ao3. you can post the most taboo fic on ao3. ao3 was created specifically to host this exact type of fic. and also. no ads. you can download as many fics as you want to read offline. and everything is free.
as a former wattpad writer, I do not regret leaving wattpad for ao3. it’s a whole new world of complete freedom and creativity here. literally made by fans for fans. no ads. no censorship. no capitalism bs. thank you ao3 ♡
cradling the em dash in my hands what the fuck have they done to you
