On the userinfo page, you'll see a bunch of mini-icons on the right. You'll have two ways of adding people from there. "Grant access" if you want to grant access to your friends only entries. And "subscribe" only applies to them being able to read your public entries. Did that help? :>

And yes! Every OpenID user with a validated e-mail will get an invite on the 30th. :D
