I'm back on teh livejournal. I still probably won't post regularly, but oh well. Not much has changed since I last posted. I'm still at WCC, though full time now. I'm in the second year of the tenure process. It will be over next school year, which will KICK ASS! I'm really getting tired of the process. Taylor is also working at WCC now in the bookstore. It's nice having him out on campus. Right now I'm pretty much horribly busy all the time, but it's always with really good stuff, so I shouldn't complain. I really need to put up a new userpic. That one is really outdated now... Perhaps I'll get to that sometime soon. :-) Oh well, off to bed, and then to the gym in the morning.
Hey all. How are things? Things with me are good. I had this job interview up at WWU on Friday and I think I totally kicked its ass. This would be a really good thing because the husband and I can really use the money. And I think it would be slightly less stressful than my current job, though it's hard to be sure. I got to see laurajerrytoday which was hella cool. I'm also working on making some homemade chicken noodle soup. I'm not really supposed to have meat due to the whole IBS thing, but organic chicken is usually okay. My GI doc is having me take some more tests this Friday, and I think I will also be tyring to see a nutritionist/naturopath soon to get some more of the IBS stuff straightened out. Anyone have any recommendaitons of who to see? I've been really tired today, and I'm not sure why. But, I'm going out with my mom in a couple of minutes to the Fairhaven to see some music and get some snacks, so that should be cool. Anyway, that's about all that's happening in my life right now. Hope it was entertaining.
P.S. Saw the DaVinci Code last night...it was AWESOME!
Hi Everyone! Sorry about the serious lack of updatage lately. I've been having some massive health/happiness/stress issues that I've been dealing with, not to mention an overload of work stuff and other responsibilities. Anyway, most of that is looking up now. I don't think I really feel like writing much at this moment - just wanted to check-in briefly.
Hey jollies and dollies. I had a completely fabulous day. To begin with, it has been snowing most of the day, and is really pretty and such. tbone_taylor had his first Fairhaven advsing appointment this morning, and I went with him to that. It was really great. I told him if I ever leave WCC to teach anywhere else, it would be at Fairhaven. Then I went to work, taught my first class, and sat at the NQA World AIDS Day table so everyone else could go to class. Seems like I spend a lot of my time lately defending the name change to various people. Oh well. After that, I went to teach my second class, but only three students showed up, so we called it early. I was supposed to teach a 99 class from 6:30-9 tonight, but WCC cancelled all classes after 4, so I got the evening off. So, I went and got my hair cut, came home and made some yummy dinner, watched the latest episode of Invasion, and got some work done. I'm so happy this quarter is almost over. I never want to teach math 130/131 again! (Well, don't hold me to that, because I probably will again someday, I just don't want it to be soon). I have no idea what I will do now. I'm kind of tired, so I may go to bed and put a movie on, though I need to get something to drink soon. Having the heat on in the house makes me hella thirsty. Oh, and I got new cargo pants yesterday that I'm wearing right now. They're great. I simply cannot survive winter without a pair of men's cargo pants (has anyone ever noticed how stupid and pointless women's cargo pants are?). Oh, and on a completely unrelated sidenote, I'm pleased to see that the WCC cafeteria is regularly making vegan soups now. I have been complaining regularly about the lack of vegan/vegeterian options there forever, so it's nice to see some changes finally being made. The biggest thing I miss about WWU are the Microwraps. I can almost taste one now...
So, it seemed like it was time for an update. I know it's been eons since my last one, but a lot of shit has been going down. In August, I was hospitalized with pancreatitis, and just about the time I got over that they found out (though some incredibly cool nuclear medicine) that my gallbladder wasn't working, so the second week of the quarter I had that taken out. (Mind you, I'm teaching three classes this quarter, two of which I've never taught before, so I'm having to prep for them as we go along since I didn't have time to prep in the hospital over the summer). Then, since I was still hvaing some nasty health problems, they wanted to do a colonoscopy to rule out cancer and ulcerative diseases of the bowel. This was my second cancer scare this year. A while back they found some suspicious tissue in my left breats, and I had to have an ultrasound on that. It turned out to be benign. Anyway, the colonoscopy (which, by the way, the prep is as bad as they say...) came back normal, so now they are testing me for celiac disease. If that comes back normal, they'll confirm diagnosis of IBS, which we have thought I've had for a while (about 3 years). (Although it could be endometriosis). I have been on an IBS diet, which is basically vegan, and I'm still on the weight watchers diet. So far, I have lost a total of 36 pounds, which is great. I am now 1.5 pounds below waht was initially my goal weight. I am going for 135. I only have 8.5 pounds to go. Wahoo. Also, I had some crazy things going on at work this quarter, althought nothing I can go into on my LJ. If you want to know sometime, just ask. Oh, als we had a bug infestation here at the house, so I was dealing with that too. So, that's why I haven't updated an a while. I will try to update more regularly from now on. I miss all you guys. Oh, cool news. I am going to be co-advisor for the WCC New Queer Alliance beginning next quarter. I'm really excited about that as well. They have an LJ, and if I could remember the name, I'd post it here. It's on my friends page, so you can look for it there. I hope this post finds all of you well and happy. Talk to you soon!
Okay, so I haven't updated in so long that to fill you in on everything would make your eyes hurt. So, here's the highlights:
Went to fenchurch1022's bachelorette party, had a stupendous time, was hungover a little the next day. Started getting sick Sunday night. Still sick. Worked most of the week, but cancelled my night classes cause I was sick. My grandpa is driving my mom insane, and her stress level drives me insane. Made tests for my math 240 students. Last night, Taylor was running through the kitchen to take the dog out during a commercial break from South Park when he slipped and fell in the HUGE flood of water issuing forth from our laundry room. He hurt himself and we almost had to take him to the hospital, PLUS (lucky us) we flooded the kitchen, my Mom's bathroom, and the back porch. We were up until 1 this morning cleaning the whole mess up. We used every towel in the house, and can't wach them until the new washer and dryer arrive on Saturday. So, I was standing in bare feet in freezing water for most of the night last night (did I mention I am still sick?). I have a meeting tomorrow with the people who are giving me a second job for the next few months to help cover expenses. Also, tomorrow we begin moving my mom into her new condo. I think that's about it. Any questions? ;-)
P.S. Weight loss update: I am currently down 27 pounds. 17.5 more to go!
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the official running weight loss total. So far (in about three months time) I have lost 20.5 pounds. So, I'm about halfway through where I want to be. I want to drop another 24.5 pounds. Unfrotunately, my weight loss has slowed a little. Now I'm into the pounds that have been here for a while and have gotten quite comfortable. Add to that the fact that I haven't been able to exercise since I got sick, and yeah. As soon as I get well again I'm going to bust my butt exercising to take this weight off quicker.
