The People in Your Neighborhood Meme

Lots of characters have jobs. But just what do they do all day? Who are they working with? Are they serious about it, or do they just goof off? Let's do some sharing and plotting.

1) Find your character's job thread! If it's not there, make one. Post a thread with your character's job in the subject line.

2) Post what your character does at work. Do they actually do their job? Do they sleep all day? Are they building the greatest paperclip chain known to man? The world needs to know.

3) Comment to your coworkers! Comment to places your character goes to regularly! Get some workplace CR going! Plot things! Be awesome!

Elmer here works at the car lot, and is a little too good at it. He just seems to hit the drone wavelength.

Elmer is pleasant enough to work with, except those time when he's annoying and trying to get you to smile. Which is all the time.

Ky's a used car salesman! He... doesn't know what a car is. But he does smile, sometimes.

I feel like there's not too many of us, or elementary students either. I'd love more to do with this. Let me hear from you!

Aurora here teaches art. She's enthusiastic and a good artist, but tends to go on rambling about things and loses track of class time. She's also a ghost, so often your teacher will be levitating or passing through solid objects. :V

On a side note, and I will repost this for the High School teachers, I am going to post a Parent-Teacher end of the school year log on this up coming Monday or Tuesday. Where people can come check up on those kids they protect/watch over/spy on, or can be pressured by drone children into attending and meeting the lovely teachers of Mayfield!

I'd LOVE to do some sort of parent/teacher conferences. This idea was brought up on plurk, and I'd like to figure out how this will work logistically.

Quinn teaches calculus. Barely. He KNOWS the subject, but Quinn is lazy, and figures the students have more to worry about living in Mayfield than their damn calculus grade. So the class is mostly a free period and everyone gets a B.

I am going to post a Parent-Teacher end of the school year log on this up coming Monday or Tuesday.

Scout mostly sleeps at his desk, or does things like build paper clip chains, make paper airplanes, etc. He also loves to prank his coworkers. I'd love to do a thread about this. <:

Grimsley takes his job to mean 'joyride on his motorbike all day' which is mostly what he does. When he's in the station, he's reading the newspaper, mostly, or tending to his Pokemon.

Barton is a candy striper. She HATES it. She works in the gift shop and looks miserable, and regularly steals from the register since this isn't a "real" paying job. She also refuses to wear the uniform dress. Suggesting she should may be hazardous to your health.

Date's one of the doctors at the hospital and despite having to treat the same people over and over again, he actually enjoys his work since being a doctor is his dream job. When he's not talking with the non-drones, he's also being an actual good doctor for everyone involved.

In his two years, Crowe has barely missed a delivery. He's very diligent about handing out papers no one gives a damn about. He also will leave copies of Dist's intro pamphlet to newbies or anyone who wants them as he goes.

Not a paper boy anymore but I don't think Zidane ever got one of those pamphlets.

Norway's been working in the tailor shop, for little more reason than he needs something to do to occupy his time. He enjoys the relative quiet and monotony, since it allows him some time to think.

He overhears a lot of gossip.

Theo used to work at the library, which he actually liked, because it was quiet. Now he's a loan officer and he hates it. Woe to all who comes to his office. Good thing no one in Mayfield really needs loans (except drones).

Does anyone else work at the bank?

Zidane is a boy scout troop leader. It's pretty dull and all the drone kids seem to want to earn badges for things like doing good homework or cleaning their bedrooms for their parents. Sometimes, he sends them to just go and clean their own bedrooms or whatever to earn their badges so they can leave him alone for a few hours and he still won't get droned. Zidane wouldn't mind having some non-drone boy scouts that he could teach useful things to, however, like pickpocketing or burglary. ALL FOR THE GOOD OF MAYFIELD. :D

Didn't know if it's a separate heading, but since the women usually don't work at the tailor unlike the men, Hayate goes here. She's quirky, and does things for free for non-drones while earning her keep by servicing the drone women who come in for frumpy 50's fashion.

Kreutzer here loves being a seamstress, but she constantly finds herself bored at work since the requests drones make are absolutely boring and she gets them done too easily. She makes clothes for anyone who leaves a request and even takes her work home with her.

My character is actually a high school student but elementary school characters can plot here. XD

Ako's 11 now and gets along with most students. Come at her.

Oh and she's a magical girl too. Of the extreme violent kind. Go go precureness.

Ilsa is a secretary at the law office, which involves very little effort. However, she always appears to be busy. The secret is she is typing reports from investigations when she isn't needed to make minor corrections to assignments from the drones.

There's bound to be a conference room somewhere in the office, and it might not be a bad idea for the aware employees to get together to discuss things found in town.

Rin was put into the Elementary at first but now she's at the High School. She and Nozomi go there even if Rin has to drag her best friend.

Also, Rin's been recently promoted to Popular so expect to see girls mobbing her soon too.

Nyanpire and Keroro have come up with an idea of a pet union of sorts since being a non-human is suffering in Mayfield. Expect a post in the future.

Keroro himself spends his time around town or if he's really bored, cleaning up his house.

Luna would be all over a union for non-humans that are suffering. This discrimination against other beings is just ridiculous!

Most days she's just one bored pony, trying to figure out what to do with no job, no kingdom to protect, and a moon that raises itself.

Bottoms up!

Crowley mostly makes and serves drinks.

However when he's bored (read: all the time) he tries to get the drones absolutely fall down drunk. This may or may not have included introducing them to beer pong.

He also tends to make vodka infusions so he can make more interesting drinks. That recipe calls for chili pepper vodka? He's got a bottle of vodka sitting around with a couple of chilies in it.

He's god big white wings, and he's (mostly) learned to work behind the bar with them, but sometimes there are small disasters involving them.

A truly noble profession. :p

Wes tends to do this job with as much flash as he can manage. He usually wears his ridiculous video cloak to work, so my apologies to his coworkers' eyeballs. He tries to talk the drones into something more exciting than what they default to. Like racing stripes. He thinks everyone's car should have racing stripes. Or flames painted on. When he's particularly bored, he brings a life sized stuff Ewok to work and hides it in the cars. He doesn't do it as much now that he has his speeder, but he's been known to sit in cars and make X-Wing noises.

A truly riveting occupation.

Balin's been acting subversive for the past few weeks now that his attempts to synthesize homebrew C-4 has borne fruit. He's taking blasting caps and other related demolition equipment from the construction yard whenever he's at work and needs some for the stuff he's working on.

Other than that, he tries to at least act productive ... but really, working at a construction yard for a Demolitionist is like an ironic Hell.

SHOW ME YOUR FIRETRUCK.

Speaking of which, one of these days, Gat needs to take the fire engine out on patrol just for fun and neighborhood hijinks. Most of the day he just keeps the engine in running condition or makes sure other equipment is ready to be used at a moment's notice.

As long as you can pay for it here, the cake isn't a lie.

Chell works her hardest at the bakery, she'll keep at learning how to make something new until it's just right.

She's learned how to make most of the various treats, but she enjoys the cakes the most. She has fun decorating them and coming up with new things to try doing.

She doesn't eat at the bakery, instead she usually has lunch in the park.

So Hajime's a butcher...and he is probably the grumpiest one in town. He's rarely, if ever smiling, but he'll get stuff cut and packed pretty quickly. Just don't expect him to make small talk. He also practices throwing knives in the back.

Jormungandr works here. Well if you can call staring at the paperwork he's been given, scribbling on it, and handing it to someone else "working."

Like literally he just scribbles. Or he stares up at the ceiling. Or he crumples up paper and throws it at the wall or at drone workers.

He hates it here.
