Do you think kids made fun of John Candy at school for being a fat boy called "Candy"?
I've always been a fan of John's,from the early days at a cast member of Second City Television (SCTV) right up until his final offering CANADIAN BACON...do you realize that he was born in Canada, died in Mexico, and is buried in the United States? For an in-depth study of John's career and life,I highly recommend the book LAUGHING ON THE OUTSIDE: THE LIFE OF JOHN CANDY by Martin Knelman.
Did anyone else ever see the film PLANES,TRAINS,AND AUTOMOBILES? It is,in my opinion,John's finest piece of work --- followed by UNCLE BUCK and THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Spaceballs is a good movie, I'd say it's the shit.
Who is Harry Crumb is a shit film
"Q. Obviously John had alot of friends, but did he ever have one he acted with that was close to him?
A. Yes - friend and collegue Eugene Levy and John were very close. Levy (also a great actor) was someone whom John started with, and is also godfather of John's kids.."
Eugene Levy! That's the dad in American pie who says "Jim, I just wanna talk about masturbation"! Ha!
What's your favorite John Candy role? Maybe it's too obvious but for me it has to be that guy in the yellow jacket in Home Alone. The best bit is when he starts singing "Polka polka" and dancing and then kevin's mum says "Oh, these are songs?". Kevin's mum is pretty good too, did you see her in Six Feet Under? Pretty good. i think if JC was alive today he would have been in Six Feet Under. He could have played the part of that fat guy who slipped out of the coffin, remember that? Obviously they would have to change the part so JC could get some wise cracks in there...as long as he gets to do that nodding laugh it's a winner in my book.
To me, John Candy is the Christmas season.
