Tony, Phill, Folke, and... Arnold?

Just picked up the Three Poplars LP of "Two Organs" and I was looking at Jim's photography, which makes the inner sleeve. The linear notes are printed there and in the notes there's this section:

"Dedicated to my teachers: Tony, Phill, Arnold and Folke."

Now, I know who the rest are, but who's Arnold?

The Nitzsche Thing

Honestly, what is "the Nitzsche thing" that people mention when in conversation about Jim? I cannot understand this. I even went out and acquired several Nitzsche productions and arrangements (for free mind you, from the public library) to see if there were any similarities. I did not really notice any, save for similar arrangements and sound when it came to strings.

Jim also thanks Niztsche in the notes of Bad Timing. Why?

Sonic Youth speak on the departure of Jim O'Rourke

Sonic Youth are interviewed as a band in this month's issue of The Wire, the UK music magazine. While discussing how their back catalog has been going through recent reissues, how they are now promoting their album Rather Ripped, etc., they discuss at length the departure of Jim O'Rourke. They were interviewed in Paris by Nick Cain.

As it mentions, Jim O'Rourke is still open for collaborations with the band. Further in the article, it mentions how Kim Gordon and Jim have their project, Supreme Indifference, with Alan Litcht also guesting. They have an album planned to be recorded for Kill Rock Stars "when schedules permit."
