Fractal Musing of a Confused Nut

Geez... okay, first things first for everyone else seeing this - my life has sucked for the past couple of months and I've been doing my best not to go insane with dealing with it. While I'm willing to discuss it, I'm not sure I'm up to doing it in a LJ post, so if you're really worried - email or IM me sometime, 'kay? Otherwise, I'll be back as soon as I get my life together. Promise.

Secondly, because my life isn't crazy enough - I signed up for Yuletide. Frankly, it was a tough decision but I've been doing this for over five years and I didn't want to stop now. So wish me well!

Now.. as I'm stupid late (Sorry dear Yuletide Santa!), I have a Yuletide letter to get out.

It's more a notification that I'll be even more offline for a bit than normal. My grandfather had a heart attack last Friday and while in the hospital for observation, he flatlined. They since put a pace maker in him and he seems to be doing better, but I'm going with Mom to visit them because this long distance worrying ain't working for me. So from Friday on, I'll be hard to reach for at least a week, maybe more. If I'm lucky, I might have spotty wi-fi from a neighbor, if not I'll be stuck with occasional dial-up and that'll be at night for very short periods of time so not tie up my grandparent's phone line.

I'll check email when I can and I'll have my phone. Otherwise, I'll get to it when I get back. And once back, I'll try to put up a real update.

For those of you who haven't heard, Robert Asprin passed away yesterday morning. No word yet on why, but he was one of my favorite authors growing up, one I still love to read on a day I need cheering up, and one I will sorely miss. If I had alcohol in my home, I would have been drinking to his memory tonight. People are sharing their favorite stories about him over here and here.

Now off to snuggle the Wren and be sad over losing such a wonderful influence on my life.

Singing Egyptologists! Giant Squids! Hot Magma! Stephen Hawking!! And as the slogan goes... "The World Is Just Awesome" and well... I know quite a few people out there (myself included lately) have been having difficulties, so sometimes it's nice to be reminded. :)

So... it's Lurker Day.

Well... um. Yeah, I lurk. Quite horribly. On practically everyone's journal, even my own. *sheepish* And since I barely remember to update it, pretty much all I have are lurkers. Hopefully. ^^

So! In celebration go all lurkers, including myself, and in the hopes that somebody other than me is around... hiya people! I'm Gen! I write Detective Conan fic and read all sorts of things. As for the two people who probably read this and care... introduce yourself! Ask for a fic drabble from a universe of mine! If you're one of the lurkers who aren't friend by me, ask about a fic you're curious about that's been locked away - I'll post a piece of it for your enjoyment! Ask what the hell I'm doing with X! Whatever you want! Talk to me! For the next few days, I'll do my best to reply to anything asked in here.

So...

The dust seems to have somewhat settled on the whole LJ mess of last week. And I've sat and done some thinking about what I want to do with this journal and what will remain under friend's lock.

First off - everything about my personal life definitely will be under filtered f-lock. So, if for some odd reason, you're interested in my life and you don't currently have me friended - drop a note here, tell me how I know you (in case it's not obvious), and I'll get you friended and added to that filter. And if you are currently friended and you're interested in my real life, let me know and I'll consider adding you to that filter. Please be aware that you may or may not be added depending on how well I know you. And all of you already on that filter - unless you say otherwise, you're staying on it.

Secondly - All Works-In-Progress fics will be f-locked. Many of them may be under a special filter f-lock to the people who've nicely volunteered to help me polish them up so I can post them publicly in fic journals. These include a lot of my older fics. I apologize for the inconvenience, but wren_chan has promised to beta many of them this summer so they should hopefully be visible in a month or two. Any of you out there that are willing to help out (and I'm talking serious help - I need someone to help me figure out characterizations, grammar, story flow... the whole nine yards), please drop a note and mention what fic you'll be interested in helping.

Thirdly - Feel free to friend me and when fics are finished, they're will be a link posted publicly to the fic if I don't post it on lj directly. I'm currently not that interested in friending many people back as I don't have spend a lot of time to follow my flist now and I'm going to have a guest for the summer, a new PS2 to play with, and lots of fics to clean up.

So, there ya go! If you have any questions - well... as I keep saying, let me know and I'll try to get back to them in a timely manner.

Okay...

Considering my favorite fandom and pairing of choice and the recent mess regarding communities being suspended, I've switch this journal to Friends Only. When I have fics written and beta'd and happy, I'll post them to various fandom communities. Otherwise, I'll probably use this journal for commenting mainly on my rather boring life.

This may change in the future after this mess has blown over, but I'm not sure and don't count on it. I may also start looking at posting fics on a non-LJ site and for any of you lurkers who are interested in just reading my fics, please let me know through email or by commenting here and I'll let you know if that does happen.
