Origami lights

Finally! I use my origami skills for goodness and light! ...Light, get it? Christmas lights? Aaaanyway... Always fun, what one can do with scrap yarn and quick-n-dirty origami ornaments. A little double stick tape (to make the green rings; I'm out of glue) never hurts either. Not bad for a half baked idea I had yesterday afternoon.

Life's little things

On the way to the station this morning I caught some colorful black and red bits amongst the foliage. When I investigated, I found that one of the wild blackberry (yes, yes, it's actually a black raspberry or something. Whatev') plants was already starting to ripen. Most of its mates are just at the green berry stage, so a week or two and they'll be fair game. Technically these are invasives, so I don't have to feel guilty for denying them seeds, just that I might be stealing food from - Hmm, let me see. Squirrels? The overabundant deer? Actually, I'm probably taking them from another human berry hunter; there were already a couple paths trampled in the grass around the plants.  ::shrug:: Time to start packing the tupperware :D

When I got to work, there was breakfast. Yay! It's Bike To Work Week, and to celebrate The Company decided to feed participants with fruity yogurt and bagels and stuff. I just think it's cool getting credit for something I do just about every day, weather and schedule permitting. And, ya know, free food!

Here's hoping the rest of today goes as it has begun. That, and actually getting some solid sleep tonight would be awfully nice :D

MS Augh!!!

...First amusement will be wondering how many people read the subject and think "Manuscript" ...

Excel and I are having a -- discussion. Collapse )

...And if not, I'll just have to stay secure in the knowledge that many things are possible if one just plays Hide The Column.

My week in review. 2 weeks, really.

Week plus of vacation over, and very little to show for it.  I did finally start Shadow Hearts, though, and I still have a crush on the lead character.  Just my stupid fixation on flawed heroes.  I also - finally - got the last 'quest' in We Love Katamari.  Whether or not I'll ever finish is a different issue, as it's little more than an endurance test.  Collect a million roses, my arse...  I see some random tests with rubber bands in the near future.

I got a little costume work done, although not nearly so much as I should have, and none on projects for other people.  I even remembered to take pictures, so maybe later this week I'll work on posting them somewhere.  Just so I have tangible proof that I did *something* besides goof off.  Saw Golden Compass w/ rowandoll .

flechyr got me the fourth set of Voltron.  It has the return of Sven, and seems to be roughly where the Americain producers ran out of the original Japanese footage and had to start writing there own stuff.  I'm waiting to see if *this* is where I actually gained appreciation for the show, or if it's all just a goofy nostalgia trip.  Not worried either way, it's a fun ride.

Time to go see what programs they lost on me.  Fun...

Addendum: All of them.  *sigh*  Shoulda known...  Thankfully I got most of them back first thing, but there's still settings I'm missing on a couple that I can't *quite* remember, and I don't think I'll care until my boss/ department PC coordinator gets in Wednesday.  I got all the crucial stuff done before they swapped machines, and the rest can wait til next week.  I've enough to keep busy.

Aahhhhhhhh. Much better! Happy-happy (no, I'm not being sarcastic. For a change.)

I've been hunting for cheapy PDAs on eBay for the past -what, 2 weeks? Always geting outbid at last minute, really annoying, but I just didn't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a cool toy to write in and take notes on. I'm still not sure it wasnt' some wierd scam cuz they all seemed to go for the same ending price, but whatever. On a lark, while I was sewing last night I threw on the laptop and popped into eBay. Yet again, outbid, but what the hey I plodded on.

Happy number one - I have no excuse, I saw myself type it in and didn't think anything of it, but I bid nearly double - $225 - what I had been. Not that the machine isn't worth that, it's just more than I'm interested in paying. The happy part is that my mistake won't end up costing me.

Happy number two - I won the damn thing anyway. Whoo hoo!!! My bids had crept up to $125 when I realized I wasn't going to get anything working for less. Nothing. Then I put in the bid from stupidville. I'd been thinking of upping my limit again, but not that much!! But the win came in at just under $150, which was to be the new maximum. Shweet!!! 'Paypal'ed it and hopefully it'll be here in the next week. Then I get to download the handwriting recognition program I want (Calligrapher) and we are Shmokin'!!

Happy number three - unrelated to the above, except very peripherally, it's a week til my best friend starts working right next to me. Whee HAH!!! It'll make discussing things like anime, stories and silly mutual friends MUCH easier. ::Happy snoopy dance!!::

Read a couple good books. Finally got "It Takes a Thief" (Mercedes Lackey) and one by Tanya Huff, both of which rocked. Thief rocked more, but only because it was back story on an already interesting character in a world I know better than I should. Now playing: "Protector of the Small", Tamora Pierce. Technically she's kids/young adult, but then so is Harry Potter. Good story, good writing, good character. 'Nuff for me.

Have to sew for Pennsic, remember cat food (or else become it), study for my SCA martialate test, see how screwed my character will be if we switch to D&D 3.5, swallow my terror of fancy fabric so I can make doublets for friends, find Nightwing 82, start exercising at least 2x a week again (I'm paying after all), love, be loved, accept things that go well in life, accept that sometimes crap happens, realize the sun *will* rise again, and be happy for what is without fretting overmuch about what isn't. And cat food. Did I mention cat food?
