Obviously I have not updated this journal in forever, and probably will never keep up with it again. :-( I've decided to take my site down (www.truthbetweenthelies.com) within the next month as well, but before I'm out of the slash and LJ world forever, I just wanted to say thank you and goodbye to all of the great people I've met in this community, both online and in person. Joining LJ and finding comfort here and with all of your story sites helped me through a very hard time in my own life where I went through a lot of changes. I was able to see my true self through you all and for that I am truly grateful. If anyone would like to keep in touch on a personal level, you can always reach me at jennrandall1042@aol.com.

It's funny how I'd had the best of intentions to update my lj LAST weekend after I had FINALLY made my first post in months, and yet it took another week to actually follow through. ( Such is my life nowCollapse )

Wow. I don't think I've been on lj at all this year. I also haven't read slash in what seems like forever. Months, at least. That makes me sad. There's been life, and stuff. Work. Family. Changes. No free time. I miss it here.

How is everyone? Coming (here) for CFTC? I'm looking forward to seeing some friendly faces again this year. I hope all of you are well. Perhaps I'll read the flist and see, eh?

Oh, and if anyone has any good story recs from the last few months, I'd be very appreciative.... ;-)

Trying to catch up on the flist, but doing a pretty piss poor job at it, I must admit. And I have a very busy weekend to boot, the 21 year old brother is graduating college tonight, the gf's sister's wedding is tomorrow night, and the best friend is coming in from Tampa this weekend to go see Jayyyyyyyy Ceeeeeeee (actually, she's going for Clay Aiken, but I'm overlooking that...) on Sunday night. Sad to say, but I'm sort of looking forward to the busy weekend of hell to be OVER more than any actual event in it, but maybe that's just the PMS talking.

In other news, I have a spiffy little Christmas tree. It's barely taller than me, and sure, in the daylight you can see the ornaments are all thrown on randomly--and mostly around the bottom due to the shortness of the little brother--but at night with all of the house lights off and the tree lit? Pretty. Maybe I'll go look at it for a few minutes before heading out to work to cheer myself up, heee.

Goal for the weekend: Catch up on fandom! Write and record, write and record. Must repeat as necessary. Stay away from the gift wrapping Jenn, you have work to do!

Yesterday I had an actual day to *myself,* something I haven't had in a long while with the 6 year old brother living here, and family functions, and spending time with the gf. Not that I mind any of that, it's been good having a life and being with the people I love, but sometimes you just need a day to yourself. So, yesterday? I shopped. Andshoppedandshoppedandshopped. In fact, I got at least 1/3 of my Christmas shopping done! Whooo!

I can't believe on a night where Justin, JC, AND Nick are all on a show, a rarity lately, my fucking cable box is out and I can't tape it. It's been out for a few days now, which actually doesn't bother me since I don't watch TV all that much, but on nights like this? Grrrrrrrrr. And my other VCR is busy taping Aaron, so. Guess I'll have to wait until 9:30 if I want to tape the other three. Although I *did* manage to see Justin's acceptance speech for Top 40 while screwing with the box. (And then it went out again.) Fucker. Reminder: CALL THE CABLE COMPANY TOMORROW, YOU MORON.

In other news, someone was in my apartment today. I'm sure of it. When I came home the garbage can was in the wrong place and I thought, weird, but maybe I moved it in a sleepy daze this morning. But then when I went out on the porch to do laundry, the washer and dryer were moved. The only people who have the key are me, the gf, (and it wasn't her) and the leasing people, but when they come in they usually leave a note. Guess I better call the manager tomorrow too. Jeez.

In better news, I got sparkly mail! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to ramblinround for all of the BSB swag. I loved it, as did the 6 year old brother. (Although, the German teen magazine? What was *that* on the cover? He looked at it and asked why they were naked, hahahahah. Oops. And I made him try the "spunk" first, too. Heee.) You rock! I also received the cutest Halloween card from the wonderful msktrnanny so thank you, sweetie! That made me smile today. :)

Nick's in Vegas (hey, eponymous, that's got JuNi written ALL over it! :) for the RMA's, and here's some highlights of his interview (sorry if I don't have things exact, I'm typing as he talks...)

-He's been in the studio lately

-He WILL be doing more dance music and music "suitable" for clubs on the next album, as opposed to a full-on rock cd

-He did NON the way he wanted, because since he was a kid he's wanted to "rock out"

-He thinks that BSB fans---not the hard core ones, of course, who still supported him by coming out on his tours---were confused by the image change the last time around so he's going to get back to "what he's good at"

Additionally:

-He was razzing the local DJ here, Michael Yo, for not returning his phone calls. "You must be a P-I-M-P now, I can't even get a phone call back!" then, in a whining gay voice, "Take my number, man, Call me!" and "I'ma give you my number right now!" (hahahha, the ghetto speak lives on, I was cracking up.)

-He wanted the Cubs to win the World Series, but is still happy the Marlins took it over the Yankees (trader!)

And that's about it, he sounded very cheery, says there's a lot of love going on in the press room there in Vegas, things are good.

Yay, Nick! That was a nice surprise. :)

And now it's back to work.

Came to work and started to tell my sister all of the events of last night and today, and then I proceeded to start bawling in the middle of the office during the story. In front of everyone, too, and they all just sat around with shocked looked on their faces as I cried.

Tonight on Eyewitness news we have an exclusive! "What To Do When The Boss Loses Control!!" Updates at 5 and 11. Jeez.

After many hugs and talks of encouragement from everyone here, including *my* boss, I'm feeling a bit better. Thanks to msktrnanny and kiffle who are TRULY two of the nicest people I've met in fandom that continue to stay sweethearts online AND in person. You girls rock.

In better news, happy birthday to embitca. Hope it's a great one! Also, the gf rocks, thank Nick's ass for her. There was a pretty little card in my email that made me smile this morning. I needed that. :)

What had started out as an actual good day at work today (I heard BSB 4 times. F-O-U-R!!! I rarely hear them once but while channel surfing today I heard them FOUR!!!!) quickly went to shitastic once I left.

First, the TRAFFIC was horrid due to the 13513535613861891 people going to the Marlins/Yankees game. It took me 45 minutes just to get to my Aunt's to pick up the brother. Then I had to go to the dreaded grocery store of doom because "Sissy, I need those little bottles of water for my backpack because I have P.E. all week and the water in the water fountain is groooooss" (kids today are fucking spoiled, yo. Oy. Back when I was a kid, we had to drink from the garden hose, dammit! :) which made the schedule of dinner/bathing/homework run laaaaaate. Add to that, said little brother is quite the ornery one today, completely annoying me every five minutes, and ugh. But, you know, I breathe, I collect, I try and be patient.

Until!

Until I *finally* get him to bed (late!) and go to watch TV in my room-coincidentally, it's the TV that was set up to tape Justin today-AND IT'S SQUIGGLY!!!!! Rewind the tape, smile when I see Justin pop up on TRL, but then, that's right, 10 minutes into it the TV went squiggly. *sigh* No cute JRT antics for me today.

Possibly the most annoying of all, besides the pain in the ass brother, the late schedule, and the JRT-less ness was that after FIFTEEN minutes on the phone with the cable company, I finally fixed it by merely UNPLUGGING the damn digital cable box.

I say it again, oooooooy.
