Domestic violence providers in California took a huge blow yesterday when the Gov line item vetoed the Department of Public Health's Domestic Violence Program. This is a major funding source for dv providers. You can learn more about it here: www.trivalleyhaven.org

My super aweseome coworker
scendan has unveiled Tri-Valley Haven's 10K by May Challenge. If you are signed up with Facebook you can check out here: http://apps.facebook.com/causes/po….
Right now, times are tough for Tri-Valley Haven. We’ve been forced to cut staff hours across the board and are struggling to make ends meet for such basics as utility bills and other necessities. However, in spite of the economic downturn, we have not cut any services to our many clients in need—and the worse the economy gets, the more people are calling for our services. Our Food Pantry is adding an average of 90 families PER week, and served over 4,000 last month alone. Our shelters—domestic violence and homeless both—are nearly always full. We are meeting the challenge and helping those in need with fewer resources of our own.
And we need your help to make that happen! We at the Haven are starting a challenge, and are inviting all our friends on Facebook to participate.
It’s the Facebook “10K by May” Challenge! Ten thousand dollars may seem like a little or a lot to you. But here’s what it means to us—$10,000 covers the cost of telephone and internet service for the entire agency for three months. $10,000 can pay for 30 self-defense classes for ten women, each. $10,000 will pay the electric bill at our domestic violence safe house for five months.
How do we raise $10,000 on Facebook?
HERE’S THE PLAN!
I’m asking every one of you to donate $10 and to recruit 10 friends to our Cause so they can donate $10 as well and become involved in the work of the Haven! If each one of us does that, we build the strength and the power to help the Haven continue to help victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Homelessness in the Tri-Valley area and Alameda County. Please help! You’ve joined the Cause, now show your commitment to helping build a world without violence!

Hello out there in bloggy land. Ive been serioulsly neglectful of my journal due to being in the vagina monologues again and it has sucked up most all my spare time. I have been checking in on friends journals and trying to keep up with those.
So far we have two sold out show and it looks like our third show will also sell out. As soon as this is done I go into planning mode for my next big event--details to follow as they take shape--but know this...it will be awesome!
Things on my end have been maddening and yet good. I feel like I have turned a corner in my life and that feels really good.

This weekend one of my bestest girlfriends had her baby (wwhhhooooo!)
This weekend one of my bestest guy friends told me his dad was dying and had less than a year to live.
Bestest girlfriends baby was born on bestest guy friend's birthday.
Weird.
