Because posting this on Tumblr is just not enough

In related news, I have yet to see a Humphrey Bogart movie I didn't like enough to watch again. I watch an awful lot of shit for actors I love (The Serpent's Kiss, Spooks, god, Dharma & Greg), but I have yet to come across a Bogie picture I wouldn't be willing to sit down and re-watch with someone. The Return of Doctor X included. (Actually, I'd say it's better than Dark Passage, and that's got Bacall, too. But you have to appreciate a Science Vampire who has blood type requirements.)

Reasons I Love RayK

I've been feeling a little guilty about my last due South post; I think it made it sound like I don't like RayK at all. I do, though! He's hilarious and dorktastic and adorable! It's not his fault he's not Ray Vecchio. So, in penance, a post of Things I Love About RayK.

pics!Collapse )

Yaay due South. And now I will be taking it with me to corrupt my family over Christmas, bwahahaha.
shallow fangirling

it's an illness, I know

As I explained with my previous fandom, I have a disease which causes me to go through the back catalogs of actors who have appeared in stuff I like. Unfortunately in the case of Criminal Minds, except for Mandy Patinkin most of them just don't have much back catalog. (Okay, but I am wondering if The Gube was the intern who got eaten by the shark in The Life Aquatic, so I am probably going to have to see that again.) And there is no power on earth that could make me watch Dharma & Greg. On the other hand, while reading Elizabeth Bear's CM recaps, I also encountered the character string OMG ICKLE TEENY NEKKID THOMAS GIBSON, so I tracked down a copy of Tales of the City. Fortunately, unlike my previous fandom, it was actually pretty good.

and then I made u a screencapCollapse )

And okay, I probably wouldn't have if Thomas Gibson wasn't also in it, but I requested the second season of this from the library after I'd seen the first part, and now I cannot wait for it to be in. Because Michael and Hot Gynecologist need to get together, and Mrs Day needs to dump her asshole husband, and Chloe Webb and Olympia Dukakis basically need to just keep on being awesome at one another. Highly recommended (and I note that while none of the gay relationships ended happily in this part, neither did they crash and burn.) (And apparently this whole series, books and TV, is some kind of cultural phenomenon I'm totally missing out on? But I love it now, yes.)

your connection speed * will* be eaten by vampires and set on fire.

So as I mentioned in my previous giant picspam post, on Wednesday I watched, for the sake of Mark Ryan, a movie called The Thirst: Blood War. And oh yeah, it is exactly what it sounds like. Budget that includes the change from between the couch cushions, check. Actors doing double-duty as producers, check. Ridiculous levels of earnestness on the part of everyone involved, check, oh, check. I believe that someone has been dreaming of making this movie since about 1982. Hey, at least the vampires don't sparkle.

low budget vampire movies for the...somethingCollapse )

This does pass the B Movie Test of Awesome, which is basically that yes, at at least one point in the movie, I did do giant arms of win. I think for Tony Todd Vampire's amazing gestures of awesome, actually. Though it might have been for Mark Ryan's specs. <3
ros: pretty angry will

For the sake of god, do not do what I have done.

So when I discover a new fandom, as soon as I've exhausted the canon I like to poke around IMDB, figure out what else the actors have been in, and watch that. Unfortunately, Robin of Sherwood appears to have been the high point in the careers of...yeah, pretty much everyone in that show. So that you do not have to do as I have done, I offer you screencaps from some of the travesties (and some stuff that does not suck at all, and one or two things that suck so bad they're good) I've been watching lately.

beware!Collapse )

Alas, my trials are not over; but at least it looks like I've got through the worst of it. IMDB tells me that Nikolas Grace was in some episodes of My Family and Sharpe, so those are torrenting now. And please, if you know of any other truly horrible works of film that these guys have been in...don't tell me.

Robin of Sherwood Picspam: Part the Final

Last one, I swear. (Until I do the comparison picspam where Robin and Darien have a hair war.)

A few more things I forgot to mention.Collapse )

And that best part I promised, eyecandy.Collapse )

So there you have it: Robin of Sherwood, in very few words but many, many pictures. Any further lack of inclination to watch this show on your part is entirely your fault, and cannot be blamed on my lack of trying.

Robin of Sherwood Picspam: Part the First

It has come to my attention that the vast majority of my flist does not know the awesome that is Robin of Sherwood. But you really, really ought to. So why should you watch Robin of Sherwood, you ask? But why shouldn't you? It's got everything!

Everything, I tell you!Collapse )

What, that's not enough for you?Collapse )

How about the ridiculously adorable camraderie?Collapse )

Awesome, you say? Why yes, yes it is. But I am not done.
educational

Robin of Sherwood (or, I think I know what Noel Fielding wanted to be when he grew up)

So due to the influence of Jason Pitzl-Waters, lesbiassparrow, and the complete failure of the new BBC Robin Hood, I finally Netflixed Robin of Sherwood. I was promised all manner of happy cheezy 80s fantasy, and I was not disappointed. (Clannad does the soundtrack, guys! Clannad!)

But there is something I find a tad distracting.Collapse )

I really do love this show. It's fun, and is not dripping with faux-clever anachronisms, and does new and interesting things with the mythology without screwing it over entirely. And there's swordfighting. And Ray Winstone.
