what the heck is an actual career, or an actual job for that matter? I have no idea, but my mom's making it clear that it is not art. bein a curator at a museam or the owner of an art gallery is just toes length away from pushing the line for her but my question is that even if i wanted one of those jobs (maybe i do, maybe i don't... it's really not active enough) how the heck would i get into them if not by knowing about art? for my way of seeing it the only actual careers there are are thing like becoming a doctor, or lawyer, or business person. that's what's been implied my entire life. My mom said it was fine for me to study art, but i don't think she means it anymore by how she goes on about how my dad "screwed around" for the first 26 year of his life before going into MD school. I would happily (maybe that's a stretch) become a doctor though i doubt I'd be enjoy being any one but a surgon or possibly a psychiatrist, yet she says no and complains about money. I'm ofc the "dumb child" and so i decided to go to a cheap school so that they could save money so that my "brilliant" sis who has even less idea what she wants to do with her life can go to Brown or what ever other Ivy she decided upon going to. they should be glad I'm saving them that $30,000 + a year not being yelled at for wanting to futher my education. That's my reason for asking what the heck is an actuall career/profession/job then? obviously my mom (and myself to be honest) has a very high and narrow oppinion of what it means and i haven't even began to explore the options yet. if anyone has any suggestion of jobs for an art/global studies/ business major let me know please!
(another side note why is my mom getting PO'd about my taking, probably, 5 years for college, elezibeth did nd it's not like I'll be graduation with only 1 major, I'll probably be graduation with 3 majors and a possible minor or two!and I've always said I'd do study abroad so why's she complaining now of all times? Studying iN New Zealand is at leas 1/3 as cheap as it is here even at my cheap college. it would be about 1/10 as expesive as any privite liberal arts college here in the States. what he fuck I mean really. I'm getting a good all around education for a very inexpensive price, according to the US that is, and here she is griping about it. I just don't know!)
I'm just writing this here becaus i feel i have to get it off of my chest and fb doesn't seen quite the place to post a rant like this
I'm going to the University of Minnesota next year. also BT got 5th at the nationals for Acadeca. My last day at school was friday and I graduate on Memorial day. I'm going to miss everyone so much next year. I really got to know a bunch of people really well over hte last few years and it'll be difficult not to have them around all the time anymore
ok so i promised people an update on how everything went... well not everything because the end of my japanese class is today but we'll all live with not knowing my that grade.
In State Acadec (aka. Academic Decathalon): i got 9 medals: 2 golds, 2 silvers, 2bronzes in the regular. The i got a bronze as part of the super quiz team that came in 3rd, a silver for being the 2nd highest scorer in the varsity level, and a gold because our team got 1st at state!!!!! We're in the small schools division (actually technically we're in the very smalls division but we have to compete with the small schools as well) wich mean that we don't get to go to hawaii for nationals, phewey!!! but at least we got first!!! yay!
In state diving i got 13th. i missed 12th by 3.5 points. most of my dives were amazing, however I messed up on my 2 best scoring dives. If i hadn't done that i probably would have been in the top 10. oh well i was diving with an injured foot so i guess it's amazing that i even did that well. besides i ended on a good dive, so what else matters! lol
In the state wide Art comp I got 2nd for my "sculpture" really it's jsut a big box with things in the middle but what ev.
I think that's all there is to say, except that i finally came out of the winter season (which was busier then ever) with a gpa higher then 3.1 infact it was is alot higher!!! yay me!
spring should be busy too!!! but not this bad thank got! i might actually be able to get more then 4 hours of sleep per night!
I'm so happy. i feel like i'm finally getting the chance to stand on my own 2 feet and I'm doing pretty well at it. While not everything has gone smoothly that's only to be expected. Now i only have a week left to survive. It will be the hardest one yet but with all my friend's support i believe i can make it. I'll let everyone know the results of all my State meets/compatitions when its all over. However i will say this, even if i fail at the diving one i think i will be pleased with how this season went. Wish me luck!
I GOT INTO COLLEGE!!!! THANK YOU UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA! other then that I'm frinkin' busy!!! it sucks.

Some how i get invited to some college grad party, it's kinda funny cause everything about it how i got invited was so random... i love talking to random people they always make you view life from a totally new prespective.
Also we have Homecoming today so that should hopefully be fun.
