I've been musing. I make resolutions, heroically, every year, and in the grand tradition, fall down by January 3 because I'm lazy.
This, apparently, isn't enough to stop me. But I'm going to go vague instead of specific this time.
The main thing I want to do, and I've been thinking about this for a while, is make a better effort. Not MORE of an effort, but a better effort. Especially at this whole being a mum thing.
Spawn is six now, and I freely admit, I'm not really the world's greatest mother. Don't get me wrong, he has everything he needs/wants - love, shelter, food, toys, cats ... I would walk in front of a train for him, but I lack something. Patience, mostly, I think. And I prioritise odd things.
So. For spawn's sake as he goes full tilt into his seventh year on the planet, I'm going to make a better effort with him.
Other than that, the usual things are on my list - read more (books, I mean); write more; finally finish at least one cross-stitch project. Eat healthier; listen to more music. Spend less time on the internet at work.
You know, the usual.
My Goodreads goal this year was 75 books, which I think is doable. I read 52 books which isn't too bad at all. I'm going to set the same goal for 2014 because aspiration is good. :D
I wrote .... nine fics this year, including the last paperlegends.
Fandoms were:
One Direction - Five fics
Night Vale - One fic
Merlin - Two fics
Hannibal - One fic
That's not bad, I don't think. Most of it, apart from Paperlegends is pretty lazy PWP. I want to focus on story more in 2014 I think; and character. I had to drop out of the 1D big bang, but I still have 7k of words, so I'm going to definitely dig into that.
I also have 3k written of another fic that I'd like to finish. So that's what I'm starting the new year on. That's not too bad at all.
I'm doing my annual re-watch of The Lord of the Rings and starting a new cross-stitch project, which is going pretty well.
My plan for tomorrow (January 1 here in the ~future) is to hang out with the spawn, and start The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton.
Happy new year!
