My fannish history began in the 70s, with Star Trek and my aunt taking me to a convention. I was very into a lot of other fannish shows like Starsky & Hutch, Battlestar Galactica, Hawaii Five-O (originals), but never connected with other fans outside of Star Trek and never realised other people wrote fanfic until much later.

In the 90s I found the internet, and found real life fans as well, and got into writing for zines and a few mailing lists. Still into Starsky & Hutch, I was also into Forever Knight and The Sentinel, and from there things basically went into full speed.

Over the last mumbley-gook years, I've been into and out of dozens of fandoms and written hundreds upon hundreds of stories. In the last few years I've basically stopped writing except for a few exchanges, and more or less stopped reading voraciously as well. Right at the moment I would say I'm enjoying Good Omens, and some MCU, as well as forever holding out for more Ivan Vorpatril fic.

Fandom (and life) has been full of both good and bad things, things I wish I could take back and tings I wish I could do again and pay proper attention. But until someone invents (and shares) a time machine, all I can do is look forward to something new to come along.

So many similar fandoms over the years! Thanks for reminding me of the original Battlestar Galactica - I loved that show!

IVAN VORPATRIL. OMG, why haven't I looked for fics about him before? Can you point me to any you love?

That is super cool that you had an aunt to share Star Trek with you. I grew up watching Voyager with my family as it aired, but conventions didn't happen until I was an adult!

Same here, Star Trek was a real big start for me in the 70s and 80s
