 hi there!! i'm avocadomoon on ao3. thanks for writing for me. i've been around awhile, doing exchanges for a long time, so chances are you might have seen me around. all my previous letters still apply, and i've requested these fandoms in past for other things, so feel free to poke around my DW here and take a look, that's pretty much the only thing i use this journal for. you can also find previous letters at my other DW account, including past yuletides (no i don't know why i have multiple. well, yes i do but it's not important.):moirariordan 

generally speaking i really like character-driven stories, i love unexpected pairings and odd couples, found family dynamics (particularly between people you wouldn't expect to get along), romcom style tropes, and humor. generally speaking i do enjoy AUs, even ones that change the setting completely, but as i've spent most of my career working in the types of jobs that fandom likes to use for romance settings (barista, bookstore employee) or have good friends who do them who like to bitch about their days to me (tattoo artists, full service restaurants, teachers), the shine has kind of worn off of that lmao. (if nothing else, please do not write me a coffee shop or bookstore AU, because i guarantee i will not be able to enjoy it haha.) basically i'm more into AUs that do something more interesting with the premise than just situational (aka, an AU where they're teachers, and the conflict is their jobs). canon-divergence AUs, or in the case of fandoms that take place in a historical/fantasy settings, a modern AU that tries to translate it faithfully and builds upon the canon to do something new - that's way more my style.

my only hard DNWs are: rape and the aftermath/trauma that comes afterwards, and alpha/omegaverse. there are some fandom-specific ones too that i specified in my sign up. also - i don't mind smut being present but i'd rather it not be the main focus of the story, if that makes sense, but that's not a hard DNW.

hi there, thank you for writing for me! i love all sorts of trope-based plots so don't stress too much. my one hard DNW is rape/discussion of its aftermath but other than have fun! i prefer character-based stories but i do love worldbuilding and plot, i prefer happy endings to sad ones (like most people i would bet) and i'm not huge on sex scenes (especially porn without plot type stories) but feel free to include that as an element if you want.

obviously this is largely a canon divergent AU request, but i'm not opposed to complete AUs if you want (Buffy AU would be fun, i think! also i am ALWAYS down for an academia-themed AU). it's also probably pretty obvious who my fave is, so something involving chris would be great. i love chris/bianca a lot for the concept and the potential (and frankly, the fact that we don't know much about her lets me do whatever i want), so a lot of these ideas would work for them. i love the idea of people from the original timeline waking up in the changed one and having to adjust, i also am a total sucker for lovers reuniting in a different universe. i also really dig the idea of bianca traveling with him to 2004, i feel like you could do a lot with that too.

but! i also love prue! and i think there are so many similarities between chris and prue that it's eerie (did the writers plan that? probably not. but i See It). so the idea of chris being her son in an AU is BOMB and i am writing it myself but i would love to see someone else's take on it. (like for instance - what if prue was pregnant with chris before andy died? or, alternatively - what if bianca and chris had children already, when he went back? cool plot ideas)

Same goes for a lot of these other combos - i like exploring different combinations of people that chris could have grown up with in the original timeline. cole hanging around as a family ghost is a KILLER concept and one idea i've had for years was: what if chris was the only one who could see him? same goes with billie and phoebe - two potential family members that could have raised him - that i think have the potential for some really cool dynamics. (same goes for the bianca & piper combo - whether in a changed future or the original one, that relationship seems like it'd be a thorny, complicated, interesting one. who could approve of their youngest son falling deeply in love with a demonic assassin? not piper halliwell! now phoebe, on the other hand, might think it's cool, just spitballing)

also just saying, andy and chris interacting at all... that'd be REALLY fun. ok i'll shut up now. have fun!

lol, what i actually intended to include here was that tag about characters being on a TV cooking show, but i didn't know there was an actual AU tag for that. you see, i was rushed!!

so i love this pairing. enemies to lovers!! banter!! my secret sauce. one thing i do really enjoy about this show is that it allows for so much grace with these characters - both in terms of forgiving them for mistakes (without downplaying them either) and allowing them to grow. richie i think was misinterpreted quite a bit in season one, since we met him when he was in such a hysterical state of grief and stubborn, misplaced anger, but s2 was a readjustment of sorts, showing us what a caretaker he is, how much he cares, how warm he can be. the potential (and chemistry he's got with syd) is THERE! i have been on the ground since THE BEGINNING! join me!!!

anyway, the "unexpected romance with someone you never considered" angle is what really attracts me here, so in terms of canon divergence AUs: i think it'd be really interesting to see a version of the show where mike is still around in some capacity. or, alternatively, an AU where syd knew mike as well, and feels her own grief (muted, obviously, since she still wouldn't love him as much as everyone else) for him too.

but in terms of total AUs....... i'm thinking, richie as a chef? (incredible idea, imo!!!!!) competitors on top chef/some other reality cooking show? amazing. incredible. also: what if, just spitballing, but maybe the beef gets nominated for like a gordon ramsay kitchen nightmares type thing, and syd is like.... a producer? THAT'S A MAGIC CONCEPT, BABY.

i also really like the idea of them hooking up once and then finding out that they're coworkers like a week later after carmy hires her. lmfao. classic trope, can't go wrong with that.

also: i've had it in my head for ages that syd probably KILLS it on instagram, so maybe... she's like an insta/tiktok chef that carmy hires to drum up PR for the reopening? or, if you just wanna lean in on social media as a concept, one idea i've really liked for ages is syd and richie beginning to hook up on the down low, and then he starts popping up in her insta stories or something and everyone is like, dude, what the fuck.

either way i'm sort of rabid about this pairing atm so i'll like anything you do. have fun!!

i am the CAPTAIN of this rare pair and very proud of it, lmao. for some reason i just love this combo - mostly because these are my two faves from the show, no surprise there - and i honestly think that they would be very compatible together. (i also am just so profoundly bored by colin. SORRY)

obviously there's lots of complete AU ideas here that i liked (90s grunge benedict meets buttoned up prep school penelope? or a fairy tale concept, borrowing benedict's book romance trope? MODERN POLITICAL AU?) but if you wanna just go canon divergence i think there's a couple really good ideas for you to play with! how would edmund change the family dynamic, for example? and colin marrying marina is a pretty obvious AU divergence that you could definitely get a story out of. 

i love the idea of benedict and penelope writing letters to each other, not knowing who each other is. maybe benedict writes to lady whistledown (angry, perhaps, about something she wrote?), and they start to correspond, and (natch) start to fall in love, all while penelope is agonizing over the fact that he doesn't know it's her? the hanahaki tag is really interesting - i normally don't go for that trope but i'd be down for some whistledown-related angst with that, if that's the way you wanna go. 

secret relationship, secret marriage - i honestly just love stories where the main pairing is surprising in some way, unexpected, a shock to their family, etc. and i've honestly NEVER been the type of fandom reader/writer to go for primarily sex-related stuff like the brothel tag, but i had this brain wave of benedict as like, an expensive escort and penelope as a reluctant, skeptical customer and i can't get it out of my head. have fun with that if you want!!!

also - i've had this idea recently of benedict having an illegitimate child, from a previous relationship, for ages and i think it could be really interesting. historically, tons of rich people in the regency era had illegitimate children (men AND women, actually!) and while they obviously weren't allowed to inherit titles, depending on the person they could still be treated fairly decently, and left an inheritance and such. (some even tried to pass them off as legitimate, which led to some political troubles for them later on - a prime minister of england once had this rumor following him for years!) so it wasn't necessarily a situation like game of thrones, where being a "bastard" (that term wasn't really used lmao but it's quick) meant you were exiled to the zombie wall, or whatever. i think benedict would probably try to treat his children with love and care whether they were legitimate or not, but a situation in which he perhaps has a son already when he marries penelope could be really interesting, in terms of how that might change the dynamic between them. both benedict and penelope are portrayed as... not completely accepted by high society (the main difference between them being, in my opinion, that penelope deeply craves that acceptance, while benedict seems disdainful of it) so an unconventional situation, where penelope accepts her stepson/daughter completely, might be an avenue for them both to connect, as well as realize some things about the life/family they want.
