So here is what I wrote for the last author standing. Prompt was "Running out of time".
Show: Psych Story Title: The Plan Character/Relationships: Shawn, Gus, Shawn/Juliet Rating: PG Warnings: Episode S05E09 - One, Maybe Two Ways Out, season 5 mid-season finale.
But I joined a Last Author Standing contest. Looks like fun though! Here's hoping I can hack it. :)
Do You Like To Write?
Like to write? Love any of the USA Network shows? Great! There is a new challenge, called usanetwork_las, where you write a fanfic of at least 100 words every two weeks based on a different prompt. Then they get voted on and the person with the least votes is out that week and the person with the most is safe next week. Till you have one author standing who wins! What do you win? A snazzy graphic and a $10 GC to Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You don't even need to be a GREAT writer!
So my new job is completely awesome. I mostly just run reports on various computer programs, but I get to juggle various tasks and it's a fun puzzle. I do tasks for the analysts and the schedulers, which is why my post was created. To take some of the pressure off of them of regular daily tasks so they can do more stuff related to their jobs.
I'm looking into going back to school. Getting an MBA. I never thought I would ever type such a thing. I always figured I'd get a Master and then a Doctorate in Geography and then go on to be a professor. But my grandpa always told me I had a head for business. I guess it's my heart that's in science and anthropology.
My company pays 75% of tuition, but as long as it's in a field that would help the company. It looks like I won't be going back to school until summer or fall of 2008. But I'm okay with that. I have other things I need to focus on now, like getting my cholesterol down and maybe actually writing a novel.
So today is my friend Jessica's birthday. Yesterday, like most Saturday nights, we hung out to watch Doctor Who and/or Torchwood. And last night, we had already planned to go see the midnight showing of RHPS even though I had never seen it. It was one of the ones where a group performs in front of the stage and others in the group sit in the audience and yell out lines in between dialog. Jessica made me watch the movie before we went to the show, but I had a ton of fun.
Of course, I got home at 3am. And stupid me, I switched shifts at the airport and had to go in at 8am instead of 3pm. So I am currently operating on 4 hours of sleep. But it was worth it.
I really need to keep up with what I've watched. I can't even remember what episodes I'm up to on most of my shows. I constantly have to check tv.com or some other site to find out.
Anyway, I bought a writing book. I mean it this time, I'm going to write something. It's a writer's boot camp style of book, so I'm hoping it'll kick me into gear. So far so good...
Just caught up with the lastest in Marjorie M. Liu's series Dirk & Steele. The last one took me barely over a day, I couldn't put it down. I'm tempted to reread the Dresden Files again, but I only finished them less than a month ago. I should wait a little while longer.
Still have a pile left to read but it's nearing the size of the read pile, so I'm getting there.
Got a promotion! Working 8am to 5pm, instead of the night shift, and I'll be in the Business Planning dept. which I'm quite sure what they do yet, but just needed someone who is good with computers and especially Excel.
Quick post, because Dresden Files and Blood Ties come on soon, both of which I love very much.
Been knitting a lot while watching the new BBC Robin Hood. Lovely show, crushing hard on Robin of Locksley. Also recently read J.R. Ward's new Black Dagger Brotherhood book, Lover Revealed, which just increases my love for the series.
I will post more later, I can't believe I let six weeks go by without updating! I have been going to the gym for at least an hour a day, four times a week. At last check (end of Feb.) my cholesterol was 262, still too high, but lowering 15 points a month is a good trend.
