Thank you!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Absolutely. And what’s fascinating is that there are examples of it being done. Games like Bokura no Kazoku and Volcano Princess (within a whole genre of princess-raising sims) show there’s still more spaces left to explore.

Thanks for the rec! It’s true that there are plenty of great examples of NPC fathers in games who are caring, sensitive, and complex, but my focus is on playable father characters. When players are granted control of those fathers, their range of expression is much more restricted to the designer’s and writer’s (often regressive or conservative) ideas of fatherhood. Why should all the good dads (or parents and grandparents, generally) be relegated to side characters?

Oohhh I really love what you did with this manifesto. Well said!!

Really great manifesto and execution!! Gonna be sitting with this one for a while.

This is fun! And also, you’re right for saying it!!

Very well said!! I love the execution here too

Concise and powerful!! That last line is so good

Ahhh you’re welcome!! 😭 I’m happy it inspired you to share it!

Break the rules of the game that says it’s everyone for themselves.

Amen to that!!

YESSS 🔥🔥🔥 Great manifesto!

Thank you so much! <3

Great post! Was linked here through this blog post: https://blog.lauramichet.com/cute-little-pokemon-esque-roottrees-alike/ I really enjoyed playing the game and FWIW, I think the game is great on its own. I do understand the desire to keep at it and build it into something bigger, but I hope that if you do follow that path that you still manage to do it on your own terms, and at a scale that works for you. Regardless, I'll be keeping up with Jamwitch's games from here on out!

  • everyday whimsy
  • spark of hope
  • limits
  • new beginnings

Thank you! I really enjoyed your bitsy jam entry  too!

Thank you! I had a lot of fun drawing out all the tiles and laying them out.

Great work on the writing and atmosphere in this. Love it!

Going to be thinking about this one for a while. Really well done!

Bravo ! C'était très émouvant comme ptit jeu.

Had a good laugh at the ending, well done. Also love your use of colour palettes here!

This game was a real delight. Really interesting to learn about the Satellaview service, too. I'll definitely check out Koyamachou Repair Shop!

Really well done. Loved the angle as an archaeologist!

What a touching musing. Well done! Really loved the flow and the writing on this.
